[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 123: I Missed You, Daddy!
While Arcane was busy with his students on a school trip, Julian stayed at home with Luna, playing with her and distracting her so she wouldn’t feel sad because her father was away.
As usual, he invited his adopted daughter to play, doing activities together such as drawing and playing hide and seek. Sometimes Luna also played with Amanda, Clara’s daughter whom Julian had taken care of for three days.
They were only one year apart in age, so Luna didn’t feel afraid or inferior around Amanda. Moreover, they were both girls, which made it easy for them to become close through playing the same games.
On the same afternoon that Arcane was climbing the hill, Julian was accompanying Luna as she watched her favorite cartoon while eating caramel pudding that Julian had bought at the minimarket.
"How about it? Do you want another pudding or would you like to eat a snack instead?" he asked, spoiling the girl.
"I just want to watch cartoons! Papa can start making lunch as usual."
Julian smiled because Luna understood what he usually did. But he stayed there to accompany her first.
"Papa, when will Daddy come home? Luna misses him so much," she asked.
"He’ll be home tomorrow. You don’t need to worry, I’m sure he’ll be home tomorrow afternoon. He also promised to bring souvenirs for—"
Before he could finish speaking, Julian’s phone rang, and it turned out to be a video call from Arcane. It was a coincidence that Luna had just asked about that man, and now he was calling her.
"Look, Daddy’s calling."
As soon as she answered the phone, she saw Arcane’s smiling face with a beautiful view behind him.
"Daddy!" Luna was the first to call his name, making his smile widen.
"Luna, I’m here. Are you still crying because I’m not home? Don’t worry, sweetheart. I’ll be home tomorrow. Is there anything you want me to bring home?" he asked.
"Luna doesn’t want anything! Luna just wants Daddy to come home soon! Papa misses you so much. He cried last night!"
Hearing this, Arcane was a little surprised because he didn’t know that his husband had cried last night because he missed him. However, Julian immediately denied this because he hadn’t cried at all, but it was Luna who had cried.
"I didn’t cry! You were the one who cried because he wasn’t home. Especially during dinner, you just messed with your food," Julian said, furrowing his brow.
"Is that true? You messed with your food because you missed me?" Arcane asked.
The girl’s face flushed with embarrassment, and she nodded her head, admitting that she was the one who had been crying and missing her Daddy. She just played with her food with her spoon, feeling unenthusiastic because Arcane wasn’t there.
Knowing how their daughter felt unenthusiastic without him, Arcane laughed because he found it quite adorable. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"You are so adorable. But don’t worry, Princess. I’ll definitely be home tomorrow and I’ll bring you everything you’ll surely love," he said.
A smile immediately appeared on her face, like a flower that had finally bloomed beautifully. Showing her pinky finger, Luna asked Arcane to promise to come home. Through a video call, they made that promise and at that moment Julian was so happy to see the two of them.
The man then showed the scenery behind him, around the hill he was currently visiting. There were several female students taking pictures and laughing. Julian and Luna were amazed by what they saw through the video call, and felt envious that they wanted to go there too.
One of the students turned to Arcane, noticing that her math teacher was on the phone with his husband and daughter.
"Oh, it’s Mr. Julian!" said the student who recognized Julian, having been in the drawing club with him.
Those who knew him immediately turned and greeted the man. Julian looked even happier and greeted them back.
"Hey guys!" he said cheerfully, waving his hand at them.
"Oh, is that your daughter? She’s so adorable!" said another student. They all agreed when they saw Luna on Arcane’s cell phone.
"Hi..." Luna waved timidly, her voice innocent and confused at seeing so many people around her father.
They cheered happily at the little girl’s response.
"All right, all right. Don’t bother me while I’m talking to my family." Arcane laughed as he shooed them away jokingly.
The teenage girls giggled, then returned to where they had been standing. They were still talking about how cute Luna looked.
Even Julian could hear them reminiscing about meeting her, but Arcane forbade them, although there was no firmness or seriousness in his prohibition, it was just a joke.
"They’re really excited to see you and Luna. My phone was almost snatched just to talk to you guys."
On the other hand, while Arcane was busy chatting with his family, Kyle sat quietly, looking on from where he was sitting. He watched as the man smiled at his phone, which was connected to Julian and Luna.
Meanwhile, he hadn’t received any messages from Ethan since last night. He didn’t know if he still cared about him, especially after their last argument.
Flashback
"You never have time for me. We’ve been married for almost two years, but you’ve never once asked me to go out or been nice to me!" Kyle tried to be honest with his husband, hoping he would change and start to understand how he felt.
However, he became even colder and showed that he was too tired to even talk to Kyle.
"My work schedule is very busy. I have to keep an eye on the construction workers, and I can’t just leave because I have a lot of responsibility there! If you really can’t accept me, why don’t you just leave?" Ethan replied, shocking Kyle.
The man could only remain silent, no longer daring to say anything. And since that day, he only did the things he usually did, like doing chores and cooking, but he didn’t say a word.
Flashback End.
His face, which had been flushed, looked even paler and covered in cold sweat. His body, which was already weak and exhausted, was made worse by his troubled mind.
Slowly, he closed his eyes and tried to calm himself down.
A few minutes later, a teacher sat down next to Kyle and tried to talk to him. However, there was no response from the man.
"Mr. Bernard? Hey... Are you asleep?" asked the teacher, trying to shake him. "Mr. Bernard? Mr. Bernard!"
She tried several times to wake him up, but the man still didn’t respond. This caught everyone’s attention, and the teachers immediately surrounded the chair, including Arcane.
Finally, Kyle’s body fell toward the teacher, and they realized he was unconscious.
"MR. BERNARD?!"
