"Brother-in-law, it’s all ready. When do you want us to activate the magic to search for Shuu?"

Princess Danielle asked as she kneeled in front of Kaiden. She kept her face turned down so as not to look at him, but her heart was still beating faster and faster inside her chest out of fear of what would happen next.

But Kaiden did not give her an answer. He stood up and walked past her toward the room where she and the Saintess had started to lay out their magic.

They were not the only ones working on this project.

Lady Reina and other renowned magicians had also arrived once they realized what was happening. Some got a revelation from the goddess while others wanted to test their abilities.

No one allowed their pride to get in the way of what they needed to do.

Caelis walked toward the magic array first, and everyone panicked and tried to stop him. But some kind of force prevented them from being able to get too close to him.

He was the first to touch the magic circle and feel how firm it was under his hands.

"This will take a lot of magic to activate. Who is going to power this magic?"

Caelis asked, and everyone looked stunned to see him speak. This was the first time the young child had spoken so clearly to anyone.

But what was even more surprising was the fact that every word that came out of Caelis’s mouth was clear. It was easy to understand and definitely not something someone as young as him should be worried about.

"Prince Caelis, you don’t need to-"

A maid tried protesting in order to earn some points with the young prince. But she found herself collapsing and grabbing her throat the very next second as annoyed eyes looked at her with irritation.

"Did I tell you that you could speak? Where did you get the courage to open your mouth? Just because my father and I tolerated you all until now does not mean it will continue. Now that Shuu is not here, I have no patience."

The maid fell unconscious, and only then did Caelis pull back his pressure.

Kaiden watched this happen without saying anything. His expression betrayed his disinterest in this topic, and instead he turned to look at the magic.

"I will ask the same question that Caelis asked-who is going to power up this magic?"

There was silence once more.

Everyone had expected the emperor to power this magic because he had a lot of magic, and he was likely the only person who would not die after feeding his magic into this spell. But now that it was time to tell him, no one felt brave enough to say that.

In the end, Reina stepped forward and spoke up.

"Everyone here will power this spell as best as we can. I hope we are successful this time."

Reina declared, and no one dared to question her. Even those who were against her decision and did not like her chose not to say anything this time.

Kaiden remained silent, and that was everyone’s cue to start the magic circle and begin tracking Shuu.

Magic turned the place golden. Kaiden felt the goddess’s magic subtly mixing with all the other types of magic and heading toward the spell. He pretended he did not notice and kept his eyes on the circle instead. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

At first, nothing happened. But people chose not to give up hope and slowly continued to pour their magic into the spell. And then, it slowly began to take shape before it started to gather and form a thread.

The thread disappeared into a portal that led to god-knows-where.

"T-This thread should be connected to Shuu on the other side... wherever he is. So as long as you follow this, you should be able to find him... for the most part..."

Reina looked ready to collapse, and so did everyone else around her. This magic had taken not only their power and magic but a part of their life force as well.

Kaiden did not even spare them a glance as he watched the golden thread heading out into the unknown. Then he walked toward the portal and touched it with his bare hands.

"Yunn, take care of this place for me. I will leave it in your hands until I come back."

Kaiden spoke softly, and before anyone could stop him, he walked through the portal. Caelis and Nero followed him as well.

"Prince Kaiden, wait for me-! I will come with you as well-!"

Liam rushed toward the portal and managed to get through at the last second. Everyone who had been left behind exchanged glances and flinched.

"E-Emperor Kaiden is gone? F-For how long...? Are we safe now?"

Someone questioned, but others had no idea.

Emperor Kaiden had become a danger, but he was also their protector. Without him, the world felt like a lost place with no way to survive.

"What should we do now? W-Who will govern us all a-and-"

"My son and I can take charge-"

"Emperor Kaiden left me in charge, so I intend to follow his will. Danielle and I will make sure to hold everything together until my brother comes back. I promise you this."

Whatever Duke Inferno was about to say got stuck in his throat as sudden cheers filled the room.

People were beyond happy to have someone like Yunn officially take over as their ’pseudo’ emperor.

"Father, should we not say something? This is our chance-?"

Alfred Inferno complained as he watched this happen. But the duke just shook his head and, with a deeply antagonized expression, spoke up.

"Not now. People are too sensitive right now, and they would curse us out if we cause a scene. We will need to wait for things to settle down before we make a move. Thankfully, dethroning Yunn should be easier compared to Kaiden."

That was what the duke believed. But little did he know that Yunn had no patience for him and his cheap tricks.
