Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 223
Chapter 223: Chapter 223
"Ah, the nice, fresh air of the middle world. Man, this place is the best. The blue skies, the normal looking oceans, and no dick shaped buildings in sight. Even the birds are flying toward me at high speeds."
He took in the scenery, absorbing the feeling someone gets when they finally make it back home after traveling. The mountain tops that he claimed with his mother, the school that he attended with Lidia, the kingdom that he lived in, he took it all in. There was truly no feeling like home.
Looking up once more, he saw the bird flying toward him, getting bigger and bigger as it got closer.
"That’s one big ass bird. What, do ostriches fly now? Ha, bout time. Imagine having wings and you can’t even use them to fly. That’s like having legs and you can’t walk."
[That doesn’t look like a bird.]
"Hmm? What do you mean?"
[Look closer.]
So Zion did. He extended his sight, catching the shape of the creature flying his way.
"Is that...a person?"
[A threat, maybe?]
"Nah, judging by how fast they’re flying and the fact that they came here as soon as I arrived, it probably means someone has an urgent message for me."
[I’m not picking up any neural link in their body.]
Now that was a huge reg flag. Everyone in Zion’s circle, no matter how close or far they were, had a neural link in their bodies. Not only did this make things easy for him when it came to management, but it also served as a way to know who tried to infiltrate his ranks.
"Okay, let’s see why this person is flying at me like a madman."
However, just as the sun glinted in Zion’s eyes, the flying man vanished.
"What the fuck?! Where did he go?"
[ABOVE YOU!]
The moment Zion reacted to Tessa’s words, he was kicked in the face hard, crashing into the ground and leaving a trail of destruction behind him.
"Arghh! The fuck man. Couldn’t we just talk things out first?" He complained, getting up and healing his cheek.
"Zion Zagan, Apostle of Luminera, Goddess of Light, fertility, Gold-"
"Yeah, I get it, you know who we are. Now, get to the point. Who the fuck are you. And why did you attack me, you...angel?" Zion noticed the halo over the man’s head and his two white feathered wings.
"Hmph, at least a lower being such as yourself knows of what race I am."
"Okay, you overgrown man-chicken, I’ll allow that first strike because you’re an angel. However, you’d better tell me the reason why you’re after me right now, because if you don’t, I’ll rip those fucking wings of yours off and stuff them down your throat as I kill you painfully."
The angel laughed. "You? A mortal? Kill me? I’d love to see tha-Arghhh!"
A solid punch to the face sent the angel flying, knocking into trees and boulders as the force of the impact disrupted his equilibrium.
By the time he got up, Zion was hovering above him, already in his apostle form, his golden hair flowing in the wind.
"Impressive. I wasn’t expecting that, not gonna lie. However, if you expect that to happen again, you’re awfully mistaken."
White light erupted from the angel’s body, transforming him in the process. His white wings were encased in a golden armor that had sharp, pointed edges for feathers. His halo grew a golden bold, spikes sticking out of it as well. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
A white and gold substance materialized over his body, creating an armor that resembled Zion’s own nanotech, but more angelic.
"Fucking copy cats." He complained.
"Copy cats?" The angel asked, his voice sounding more robotic. "No, we’re the original!"
Faster than the eyes could see, the angel grabbed Zion’s throat, slamming him into the ground and dragging him in the dirt.
Zion fought back, blasting his eye beams in the angel’s face at full force, kicking him off before equipping his own armor and rocketing off in the angel’s direction.
The angel pulled out a spear, and Zion brandished his sword of forms. He wasn’t playing around and would either get answers out of the man or kill him.
"Don’t think you’ll stand a chance against me, mortal." The angel yelled, flying down toward Zion.
"I’ll make you eat your own balls!"
Their two weapons clash, creating a shockwave of holy power, as that was the power that angels use, and Zion was in his apostle form.
The sudden clash of this energy instantly alerted Luminera of Zion’s current predicament, and she quickly tried to come to his aid.
’Zion! Are you okay?! I felt holy power near you! Are you fighting an angel?!’ She asked in a panicked tone.
’Yeah, I am. Kind of busy though, I’ll catch you later.’
He dodged the rapid swings and thrusts of the angel’s spear, blocking and countering the strikes that came too close for comfort.
"Don’t tell me the Great Apostle of Luminera can only dodge and block my attack? Are the gods worried for nothing?"
That comment really pissed Zion off.
’I’ll fucking cook this guy over oil and feed him to his bitch of a mother!’ He changed his blade into a whip, wrapping it around the angel’s spear, pulling him in close, then punching the man so hard that his faceplate cracked.
The angel was falling toward the ground at high speeds, but before he landed, the whip wrapped around his throat, and he was pulled back up, right into Zion’s fists as he was clobbered right back down to the ground.
This happened again and again, each punch getting faster and stronger the more he was pulled back up.
The angel’s armor shattered, and his face was greatly bruised.
"YOU FUCKING MORTAL!" Transforming into a beam of light, he escaped Zion’s whip and rammed into his back.
"Agh! You fucking animal!" Zion pulled him off, headbutting and blasting him with his laser vision.
But the angel didn’t back down. His wings extended, and one of the spikes acting as a feather shot toward Zion.
It was so fast that he almost didn’t react in time, but that wasn’t the worst part. The spike collided with a mountain and completely reduced it to atoms with the sheer might of the explosion.
"What the fuck?!"
[Zion, look out!]
He dodged quickly, avoiding another spike coming his way, then another, and another, and another.
Rising higher in the air, Zion saw thirty spikes flying in his direction, following him no matter where he flew.
"Use the lock-on feature!"
[On it!]
Tessa locked onto all thirty of the spikes and a gun formed on Zion’s shoulders, shooting them down from the sky as he continued to fly around to avoid being hit by them.
However, that only worked on a few of them, and the rest somehow adapted and avoided Zion’s attempts at destroying them.
[It’s like they can think on their own!]
"Hahahahaha! You can’t run away from my Death-Feathers! Once they’re locked on a target, they never stop following them!" The angel yelled.
’Tessa, I have an idea. Hold on tight.’ Zion slowed down, allowing the Death-Feathers to catch up with him.
Quickly, he dropped in altitude, descending rapidly toward the ground, then, at the last minute, he narrowly avoided the ground by flying horizontally.
The feathers still followed him, but that’s exactly what he wanted.
Without realizing it, Zion was right behind the Angel, and before he could react, Zion grabbed the angel’s neck, used his feet to bend the man’s knees, then threw him forward, right in the line of sight of the feathers.
The result? The angel was caught in an explosion that could be seen from the other kingdoms.
