Bride of the Serpent King-Chapter 53: Aiyi’s Panic
Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Aiyi’s Panic
Chapter 52: Aiyi’s Panic
Zaiyila was confused and stared at Elizabeth with a questioning gaze. She looked around the class and noticed that everyone else was also staring at her with the same puzzled expression.
"What’s the matter?" she inquired.
Elizabeth blinked twice in a row. She looked at Zaiyila and gulped twice, then leaned closer to her in a secretive manner.
"What’s wrong with you, Aiyi? Why are you carrying snakes inside your dress? Aren’t you afraid they’ll bite you?" she whispered, her voice trembling with fear. She dared not move any closer to Zaiyila.
Zaiyila frowned in confusion. "Are you perhaps talking about the snake tattoo on my shoulder? If that’s what you mean, then there’s no need to comment on it," she shrugged. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Elizabeth shook her head immediately. "Come on, I’m not talking about a tattoo. I didn’t even see one. The snake I saw was alive—really alive! It’s... it’s sleeping on your chest and... and it looked completely real," she stammered.
Zaiyila furrowed her brows and looked inside her clothes but saw nothing. "Um... are you joking? I don’t see anything," she responded.
Elizabeth gulped and leaned forward to take another look, but just as she dared to peek again, this time she didn’t gasp—she fainted straight away.
Zaiyila was stunned and immediately carried Elizabeth, panic rising in her chest. She didn’t dare to stay a second longer. Just as she reached the entrance, she bumped into a teacher.
"I’m sorry! I’m sorry! My friend fainted, and I was in a rush to take her to the school clinic," she blurted out anxiously, not even looking up.
"Oh, so she didn’t faint before I arrived? It was only after I came, huh? Something is definitely wrong with you spoiled noble children. Drop her on the ground and get back to your seat," the teacher snapped in an angry tone.
Zaiyila was taken aback and slowly raised her head to see the teacher.
The woman was beautiful, wearing a recommended wig that concealed her hair. She was dressed in a standard teacher’s uniform with matching black sandals. Her nails were baby pink and smooth, complementing her beauty. But despite her attractive appearance—enhanced with makeup—she was glaring at Zaiyila with clear hostility.
Zaiyila opened her mouth. "It’s not like that, Teacher. She didn’t faint because of your arrival, and it wasn’t intentional. Please, let me take her to the clinic," she pleaded.
The teacher’s frown deepened. "You dare defy my order!" she shouted, raising her hand to slap Zaiyila across the face—but a hand caught hers mid-air.
"What do you think you’re doing, Anabel?" Miss Girlin demanded, her brows furrowed in anger.
The woman—Anabel—glared at Miss Girlin and yanked her hand away. "Mind your own business and get the hell out of here," she spat furiously.
Miss Girlin’s expression turned cold. "You’re simply courting death if you get into her bad side," she warned.
"Oh please," Anabel scoffed mockingly. "And who is she, anyway? Just another spoiled noble brat. You should be warning her—and yourself—not to get on my bad side." She turned back to Zaiyila. "Now drop that chicken and get back to your seat."
Zaiyila’s brows knitted. "Why do I hate the feeling of being ordered around by her? I want to be the one giving the orders," she thought.
Miss Girlin looked at Zaiyila. "Your high—erm, Miss... student Zaiyila, please allow me to take her to the clinic," she offered respectfully, stepping forward to carry Elizabeth. But Anabel stopped her.
"I never thought you’d stoop so low as to take bribes and favor one student. You’ve really opened my eyes," she mocked.
"Oh, if you think that way, then thank you," Miss Girlin replied with a smile. "I’m just trying to save your life, but it seems I can only save mine."
"Crazy woman," Anabel hissed before turning her glare to Zaiyila. "Put her down. NOW!" she barked dangerously.
"I see—it’s because you’re not a mother yet that you act this way, arrogant and crazy!" Zaiyila snapped, her anger bursting out. She glared back at Anabel without a trace of fear. "If she were your daughter, would you allow someone to treat her like this?" she scolded.
"Haha! Look at that—she dares to talk back! She just insulted me. And I see you’re a new student here. You’re doomed!" Anabel retorted before storming out.
Zaiyila bit her lower lip. "I don’t want to cause trouble for my husband, but I couldn’t control my anger. Will he blame me?" She fought back the tears threatening to fall.
Miss Girlin hesitated for a moment, unsure whether Zaiyila was still angry. "My... erm, erm, pretty student, you don’t have to worry about her," she murmured awkwardly.
Zaiyila looked at Miss Girlin. "Teacher, I didn’t mean to say those things... will my guardian be summoned to school?" she asked worriedly.
Miss Girlin raised her brows in surprise. "So Her Highness is worried about His Majesty? Oh my, my head is safe," she thought. "Pretty student need not worry about that. Even if he were summoned to the school, it’s not a big deal," she tried to reassure her—but her words struck like another bomb in Zaiyila’s heart.
"My bad luck is acting up again. I’ve been living comfortably and forgot all about it. Miss Girlin is just a teacher; she knows nothing about me or my relationship with Eve. Will he start hating me now?" she thought anxiously.
"You don’t need to trouble yourself. I’ll take her to the school clinic," Miss Girlin said as she took Elizabeth from Zaiyila’s arms and left.
Zaiyila’s mood dropped. She wasn’t in the right state of mind to care about anyone else. She returned to her seat and rested her head on the table, her mind entirely focused on how to explain things to Everett—how not to make him angry.
Soon, Anabel returned to the classroom. Her eyes immediately found Zaiyila. Her brows furrowed tightly as she marched over and slammed her books down on the table, creating a loud noise that startled the already absent-minded Zaiyila awake.
