Broken Bond: Claimed by My Ex-Husband's Alpha Billionaire Uncle-Chapter 26: The Angry Parents
Chapter 26: The Angry Parents
A helicopter descended onto the private landing pad near the Crimson Moon manor. As the helicopter door opened, Charlotte’s parents stepped out, their faces filled with anger and frustration.
After hearing their daughter’s cry through the phone, her father, Derek Dawson, immediately rented a helicopter to fly from Velmoria City to Northbridge City.
For five years, they struggled to stay in touch with their daughter after she married Julian. They assumed Charlotte was simply busy and tried to be understanding of her situation.
However, after learning the harsh truth, they finally realized the real reason their daughter had never come home for so many years.
Damon walked to them when they descended from the helicopter. "Alpha Derek, Luna Hattie. I—"
"Where is my daughter?" Hattie Dawson—Charlotte’s mother—immediately cut off his words. After knowing what Julian had done to her sweet daughter, she couldn’t bear to see any of his family’s faces.
Damon didn’t get angry over her attitude and tried to understand. "She is in the manor. Please, follow me."
Hattie exchanged a quick glance with her husband before following Damon without a word. Her face that had so much resemblance to Charlotte seemed cold and fierce, while Derek still had a bit of warmth on his face.
Once they stepped into the manor, Hattie’s icy demeanor cracked the moment she saw her daughter’s face in the living room.
Charlotte broke into tears and all of her strength immediately vanished when she faced her parents. "Mom, Dad ...."
Hattie rushed forward, pulling her daughter into a tight embrace. "Oh, my baby girl," she whispered.
Derek stroked her hair in gentle motion, looking guilty because he let his daughter suffer in silence. "I’m so sorry ... we should have known sooner."
"No ... it’s not your fault." Charlotte lifted her face to see her father. "I was the one who forbade you to visit me and Julian."
Derek gritted his teeth when he heard that despicable name. "It’s because of him! How dare he make my little girl suffer!"
When Charlotte announced her decision to marry Julian, her family didn’t take the news well. Julian didn’t have a steady job at the time and was too dependent on his parents.
Furthermore, Charlotte’s sudden desire to retire from the entertainment industry made them worry about her future.
They knew better than anyone else that their daughter had a deep passion for acting and had always dreamed of becoming a successful actress.
The thought of her giving up that dream so abruptly made them suspicious that Julian had coerced her into quitting.
However, Charlotte assured them that Julian didn’t force her to quit. She explained that she wanted to focus on building a family, and her career would become an obstacle to that.
Besides that, Charlotte’s savings and assets were more than enough to support her in the long run.
Though her parents remained hesitant at first, they eventually accepted Julian after seeing how happy he made their daughter.
"I let you leave our pack in hopes that he could make you happier, but ..." Derek clenched his fists tightly. "... he’s hurting you instead ... oh, my sweet little girl."
Derek Dawson was the Alpha of Moonfire Pack. Compared to Silverfang and Crimson Moon, Moonfire was a small pack with no more than 30 werewolves, but it was still prosperous.
The Dawson family ran a successful business in the fashion industry, and Hattie was a renowned fashion designer whose name was recognized internationally.
That was why they couldn’t allow their beloved only daughter to marry someone they considered a failure.
If Charlotte hadn’t been so determined, they would never have allowed Julian to be with her.
"Mom, I’m sorry I wasn’t trying hard enough to contact you. I really ... really want to tell you everything, but ... I ... I was afraid Julian would hurt you and Dad too."
He was insane and unpredictable. Who knew what kind of scheme he hid behind his sleeve.
After being manipulated too much by him, Charlotte was becoming more timid and lacked confidence. Hence, she didn’t want to take a risk by involving her parents.
"Charlotte, listen to Mom." Hattie cupped her daughter’s face. "Don’t ever feel sorry for that. You did nothing wrong and I’m glad you have the courage to walk away from him."
"But this time, your Dad and I will never let him hurt you anymore." Hattie said firmly, "If he tries to touch you, even just your hair, I’ll make sure to bite him to death."
Derek said, "You don’t have to worry about us, honey. If he wants to hurt us, then we’ll make sure he regrets it."
Charlotte finally realized that her fear had been nothing more than the result of Julian’s manipulation.
How could she have been afraid that Julian would hurt her parents when, in reality, her parents were strong and capable of protecting themselves?
But, that was not the only reason why Charlotte couldn’t tell them everything.
Whenever she called her parents, Julian would listen to their conversations. If she chose the wrong words, he would punish her severely.
The combination of abuse and manipulation from him was enough to break her spirits to pieces.
"Let’s pack your things now." Hattie said, "You will come with us to Velmoria."
Charlotte bit her lower lips, then looked at Damon through the corner of her eyes. "Mom, I can’t ... I ... I’m the Luna of the Crimson Moon pack now."
"You what?!" Hattie quickly turned her head to Damon and sharpened her gaze. "Is this one of your family trick to torture my daughter?!"
Derek growled at him, ready to shift into his wolf form. "How dare you put your mark on my daughter after knowing what your nephew did to her!"
"Did you force her to take your mark?!" Derek growled, stepping forward.
But before he could get any closer to Damon, Charlotte quickly grabbed his hand. "No, Dad! Mom! This is not what you think it is!"
"He is my true mate from the beginning!" Charlotte exclaimed. "And I was the one who asked him to renew our bond!"
