Broken Bond: Claimed by My Ex-Husband's Alpha Billionaire Uncle-Chapter 28: Audition Day (1)
Chapter 28: Audition Day (1)
Charlotte had a really good sleep that night.
She could finally sleep next to her mother after so long, her presence giving her a sense of comfort she had been missing.
As the morning came, she led her parents to the dining room, meeting Damon’s entire family who seemed a bit anxious, especially Carmen.
That was because Charlotte’s parents recognized her as Julian’s maternal grandmother and had met her several times before her wedding.
"Mom, Dad. Carmen is the one who helped me to ruin Julian’s business," Charlotte explained, hoping to ease the tension between them.
Before Hattie or Derek could respond, their attention shifted to Haven, who came running toward them with a plate of cake. Her small face lit up with excitement as she offered it to them.
"Hello! I’m Haven!" she said cheerfully, holding up the plate. "This is for you. My mom says we should always give a welcoming cake to our staying guests."
Hattie’s cold expression softened as she saw the bubbly little girl. She crouched slightly to meet Haven’s gaze. "Well, thank you, sweetheart. That’s very kind of you."
Derek smiled faintly, taking the plate from Haven’s tiny hands. "It’s not every day we get served by such a charming young lady. Thank you, Haven."
Haven offered them a big smile before running back to Vera, who watched the scene with a smile.
Charlotte let out a sigh of relief and silently gave Vera a thumb-up for letting the little diplomat handle the situation.
Because of Haven’s cheerful presence, breakfast turned out to be a pleasant affair.
The tension that had lingered between Charlotte’s parents and Damon’s family began to ease, replaced by lighthearted conversation.
The day seemed to fly by as they enjoyed their time together.
Charlotte wished she could spend more moments with her parents, but with her audition approaching, she needed to set aside some time to practice.
"Are you sure you want us to leave so soon?" asked Hattie to ensure her daughter’s wish.
"I know both of you are busy, so I don’t want to bother you further." Charlotte continued, "Besides, I also have an audition in a few days."
"Audition?" Hattie was surprised and delighted at the same time. "So you decide to come back?"
Charlotte nodded. "Mhm. Damon helped me pick a new movie that suits me."
Hattie smiled warmly. She stroked her daughter’s hair in gentle motion. "He is really something, isn’t he?"
"He is ...," Charlotte’s smile seemed so genuine when she talked about Damon. "I’m glad he wanted to accept me as his mate."
"Ridiculous," her mother scoffed gently, shaking her head with a fond smile. "Every Alpha would kill to have a mate like you, dear. Damon is lucky to have you."
Charlotte responded with a soft laugh. It never crossed her mind that she was a perfect mate for Damon.
She hadn’t even done anything for him.
Sure, she had started rebuilding her life, but Damon had been the one to guide her through it all, offering his unwavering support without expecting anything in return.
That was why the audition felt so important.
She had to nail it, not just for herself, but to show Damon that his belief in her wasn’t a mistake.
"Don’t worry too much about the audition. I know my daughter is an expert in acting." Hattie said warmly, noticing the hesitation on Charlotte’s face. "You just have to believe in yourself."
"I’ll do my best, Mom," Charlotte replied.
"Oh, I almost forgot something." Hattie reached into her purse and pulled out a sleek credit card. "Here, you can use my card for whatever you need." ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Charlotte blinked in surprise, holding up her hands. "Mom, that’s really not necessary. I can manage."
"Nonsense." Hattie shoved the card into her daughter’s hands. "Your dad and I have worked like mad dogs for years, and all of our fortunes will be yours after we die."
"Mom, don’t say something like that!" protested Charlotte.
Hattie sighed and said something more casual, "You’re our daughter, Charlotte, and we want to support you. Let us."
Charlotte, "Mom, I appreciate it, really, but I want to prove I can stand on my own two feet."
"And you will," Hattie said firmly. "But even the strongest need a safety net sometimes. This isn’t about dependency, it’s about knowing we’re here for you no matter what."
Charlotte hesitated for a moment before taking the card. "Okay, but I’ll only use it if absolutely necessary."
"Good girl." Hattie smiled and patted Charlotte’s cheek. "Now, give your mom a big hug."
Charlotte chuckled before she hugged her parents tightly. "Thank you for being here, Mom, Dad."
"Always," said them at the same time.
Hattie and Derek then went to the landing pad.
They didn’t rent a helicopter anymore because Damon had offered them to use his private helicopter and he had even told them to contact him anytime they wanted to visit the Crimson Moon manor.
As the day passed, the audition day finally arrived and for the first time, Charlotte had other things on her mind besides her divorce.
She and Damon arrived at the Luminix Studio building separately, as she didn’t want anyone to see her with the CEO before the audition.
Because she hadn’t signed a contract with any agency, Damon had arranged for her to audition independently.
He knew it would be better for her to showcase her talent first before signing an official contract with Luminix Entertainment Group.
"Mrs. Dawson, you’re here," Tatiana Petrova, the show’s director whom she had met before, greeted her.
She had just stepped into the building when she bumped into Charlotte.
"Mrs. Petrova." Charlotte smiled at her, asking, "Will you be in the audition room today?"
"Yes." Tatiana said, "Actually, Mr. Sullivan asked me to become the vice director in the movie you are about to audition."
Charlotte was taken aback. "Then, maybe we should keep a bit of distance? I ... I don’t want anyone to misunderstand me."
Tatiana chuckled. "Oh, Mrs. Dawson. Everyone knows you’re not a rookie."
