Building An Empire Starting From The Labor Camp In Exile-Chapter 276: Now then
First thing he did was remove Slya and Tiber from the Tower. He had left the two of them in there so they wouldn’t do something as stupid as trying to fight Thrain or Terrix because he knew it was something they couldn’t do. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
As expected, Slya turned to him with a glare. Her eyes were dark and wide. "Atrox! Why did you do that? You nearly died! You shouldn’t have played around since the beginning."
But then she smiled. "But I must admit you are too powerful."
Atrox smiled. "I know. And you shouldn’t worry. I have everything under control. Do you like the gift I sent you?"
Tiber grunted. "The body nearly fell on me. That sword technique... it’s strong. Congratulations, Clan leader."
Atrox’s smile turned wider and filled with joy. Those two were his witnesses to his ambition, and they were still there when he was making another big jump in his plans. "Yes. Congratulations to me. Come, sit. We will celebrate after I make the Clan stable again."
"I must think of what to do next. Tiber, your input."
Tiber nodded slowly. They dragged more tree stumps closer and sat on them. "I’ve been thinking about it since you met Thrain. The first thing to do is to take over his army by killing those you can swiftly before they know what hit them."
Atrox growled. "The Chiefs. Chief Ryvlan Choxa and Chief Helena Varro. They are the two that put their army against me. But also, Thrain brought the forces of the capital here under the command of a Captain who’s a Master Knight himself."
"Chief Ryvlan Choxa won’t be a big loss, but Chief Helena Varro is a Master Knight."
Atrox didn’t want to bleed the remaining strength that’s left in the Clan. Master Knights are the deciders of battles and wars. Not only are they important, they are very massively important. The backbone of any Clan.
There was silence again. Pomora turned to the unconscious Terrix. "This guy. It would be such a waste to kill him. If you ask me, then I will say we should find a way to retain all the Master Knights that the Clan currently has. From current situations, we should be expecting clashes from the other Clans in the Hinterlands."
Tiber shifted. "Retaining those who already turned on us once before will be like using a snake as a necklace. We shouldn’t act surprised when the snake turns to bite us!"
Atrox grunted softly. "Retain them and risk future rebellion or kill them and weaken the Clan... not only the Clan, my ambition will be weakened as well... what should I do..."
Just then, Terrix began to cough as he shuddered. His body shifted and he opened his eyes. At first, he looked around him in surprise. "What... are... what’s happening."
But then the memories hit faster than they could say anything, and they watched as his body tightened. His eyes glowed a faint gold, but it didn’t flare as usual. His powers were being suppressed by the drug that Pomora gave him.
When he realized something was wrong and he was between his enemies, with a Master Knight directly there, his body shuddered and Terrix swallowed as he faced Atrox. "What are you going to do?"
Atrox was also studying Terrix and he shrugged. "I don’t know yet, but I’m leaning towards killing you and taking over the Choxa Clan directly. Or should I just dismantle the Clan?"
Terrix’s eyes widened and his face showed anger. He looked as if he would jump forward and tear Atrox apart. But a glance at Pomora and he made his body still. He said in a rough voice, "Don’t do that. Don’t destroy the Clan."
Atrox raised his brows. "I didn’t know you cared for the Clan so much. If you did, then you wouldn’t have supported a rebellion."
Terrix smiled bitterly. "Everyone has something like this to say when they are not directly in the line of attack. Where were you when the threat of the other Clans of the Hinterlands was clearly outlined? We expected them to attack. But your father already made the Soryu weak by then, so it’s not surprising.
"Thrain provided us with a new option, of recreating the Soryu Clan together with him, and we had started before you came along with your... army."
Atrox glanced at him curiously. "I see. So you are most concerned with what happens to your Clan and not the Soryu as a whole."
Terrix hissed. "The Soryu’s glory is our glory too."
Atrox leaned back. "Then it shouldn’t be a problem for you to follow me. One thing you can say about me and my late brother is the will to make the Clan stronger.
"But here lies the problem. Your Clan did betray me and punishment must be observed. What say you?"
Terrix’s face was like that of a metal mask, so cold and still, and he watched him. After a long time, he closed his eyes and nodded. "I agree, and I know what we must do."
The sun was already painting the sky a faint reddish glow when they began to rush back. Not to Atrox’s army, but to Thrain’s own.
The soldiers that followed Thrain to the place would be finding their way back by themselves.
Pomora lifted them on a water platform and they shot across the open air like a faint mist. Even Atrox couldn’t move at the speed she was moving with the Tower, unless he was combining his speed with short-distance teleportation.
So by the time the sun was already lighting the sky, they were already there. But before they reached the actual place, Terrix had switched places with Pomora.
He had recovered enough to form a cube-like platform for them to cram themselves in. This was to make it possible to sneak into the command building.
This time, Atrox had entered deep into the enemy’s territory.
Terrix directly brought them into the throne room that Thrain used to hold temporary court. At the moment, there was no one there, and so Atrox went directly up to the throne and sat.
He smiled with a hint of a mocking smile on his face. "Hail the Clan leader."
Then he turned to Terrix. This would be the first test. "Now then. Bring him here."
