Building My SSS-Rank Universal Empire: From Trash to Cosmic Overlord-Chapter 190: Not allowed!
The roar turned into a blasting windstorm that crashed into the Master Knights like a wall of force, sending them staggering. But they recovered quickly enough as the monster flung itself at them, its tail swinging like a whip.
Pomora constructed a water shield in front of them, but the cloaked monster was right behind the serpent one, hand raised. A wave of force left him, flattening her wall of water with a crash.
Her eyes widened because the serpent had already crossed the distance between them, fangs bared as it bore down on her with a roar. Her hand went to the weapon by her side, but before she could use it, lightning exploded between them.
The silver light left a cracking sound in its wake as it slammed into the serpent monster’s open mouth, sending fangs and dead flesh flying.
The monster didn’t recoil, as if it couldn’t feel pain. But it had bought Pomora the time she needed to gather more water. She shaped it into a crude, massive ball and rammed the monster atop the head with it, pinning it down as it thrashed, its tail and lower body flailing like a bladed whip in the air.
A figure blurred to the serpent’s side, claws harder than enchanted steel flashing as it went for the green liquid holding the monster. But before it could touch it, a shockwave of force slammed into Takoda, extracting a grunt from him as he was shifted slightly to the side.
He turned his muscled bulk on the cloaked monster, and the crown atop his head flared. His figure blurred, producing afterimages as he disappeared from his place—only to appear behind the monster.
Takoda pressed his hand forward. It was a move he was used to. By simply pushing his hand forward forcibly, it would be as if he were punching out with his claws, which were sharper than blades.
But this time, it was as if he were slapping a cloth caught in the breeze. It was as if the monster had no body and was made up of layers of cloth!
The monster twisted backward. Its upper body twisted to face Takoda before punching him, releasing a wave of force into his gut.
The chief grunted as he was sent crashing back so hard that he hit the ground with a thud, cracking it, while his jaws slammed together with a click.
Inside the tower, Vale winced. He and the others had given them space while the Master Knights fought.
".....wait..... it seems the monsters this time are stronger?..... Or are the Master Knights not taking this fight seriously....."
On the other side, a thick rope of lightning slammed into a boulder, crushing it. The green monster laughed as it dodged another rope of lightning. Its body was back to its solid state, and now it was fighting Steelclaw.
"....ah.... I see now...." Vale thought as he watched the fight greedily.
It wasn’t that the monsters were stronger. The Master Knights were testing them—to see if they had anything up their sleeves.
Now that they had confirmed it, Pomora had already trapped the serpent in a water ball and was slowly crushing it.
The waves of force that the cloaked monster was sending at Steelclaw had little effect now because, with his feet dug into the ground, the Chief was walking through the force with raw strength. And when he reached the monster, his big hand clamped down on its head and ripped it off.
Then he began to tear the monster apart, one cloaked body at a time.
It turned out the monster wasn’t wearing a cloak. It was the cloak! The monster’s body was made of tiny bones etched into the fabric.
And just like that, two Riftborn Titans were dead.
"...wow...."
Everyone turned to those still fighting.
It was Steelclaw, standing on a cloud and sending lightning at the green monster, which dodged with its muscular, nimble body. She was laughing as if it was all a game.
Suddenly, Steelclaw stopped attacking.
"Ahah! Are you tired already? I have time! You can’t kill me. I have the most insane regeneration of all the monsters in this Rift!"
As she spoke, she didn’t notice the cloud forming behind her. The cloud was nearly translucent as it warped around her, then solidified.
"Even the boss! Huh...!!?"
The cloud turned into Dlodus. With his hands wrapped around her, he transformed into lightning and exploded, splattering green liquid everywhere.
But the green liquid began to move, slugging toward itself.
Vale understood what was happening. He remembered what the monster had said earlier. With a quick glance at his team, Vale dropped the law he was holding and adopted another. He pushed more essence than usual into it and shouted,
"Regeneration is not allowed here!"
The green liquid froze immediately, then stopped moving.
With the law prohibiting corruption removed, everyone stepped back from the monster and watched it slowly wither away.
Vale thought he heard something like a scream, but he couldn’t be sure. Still, he was glad they had finally killed the creepy green monster.
Inside, Slya was asking—her voice laced with worry.
"What did that monster mean by saying they wanted to take you, Vale?"
Vale could only shrug, even though they couldn’t see him. Then he sighed.
"I can only think it’s because of my Mark Order."
Slya turned to look at Tiber, sitting beside her. She noticed that the shadows around him were thicker than usual, but she dismissed it. After all, the room they were in was nearly dark anyway.
"What do you think?"
"There’s nothing we can do for now," Tiber said calmly. "We just have to make sure no one takes him. With the Flagbearers here, it should be easy. And if it comes to that, then we can just run."
Slya relaxed a little, then said aloud, "You heard that, Vale?"
Vale couldn’t help but smile.
"Of course, Slya. We run if things get too hot. As you know, heat is not my thing."
Slya snorted. "You can’t fool me."
