Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 633: Come Back Soon!
Unsurprisingly, Li Zhi blew his tops when his demands for XIU to provide his statement fell into deaf ears. Even direct inquiries to the Prime Minister’s office was no use as all they received was empty apologies and the useless assurance that XIU would get back to them as soon as he was done with his business with Prime Minister Liang Yuanjun.
Bullshit, who in their right mind couldn’t see through that excuse? The two of them might not even be together right now!
Li Zhi’s fury persisted until the hour when they were supposed to clock off work, showing no sign of abating. Not a single person was spared, not even the staff who was there to drop off documents.
The whole office was shrouded in a gloomy atmosphere, though Mu Yuze’s glum mood stemmed for a different reason altogether.
Glancing at his silent phone for the nth time in the past hour, he released another long sigh.
Upon reaching home, He Juan still had not contacted him at all. What was he up to? Was he so busy that he couldn’t even send Mu Yuze a message? It couldn’t be... did he get caught up in some kind of trouble?!
Mu Yuze paced back and forth in the living room, biting his nail anxiously. But in the end, he refrained from giving He Juan a call because first, he did not want to appear too needy, and second, he feared that he would interfere with He Juan’s business instead. And so, Mu Yuze decided to wash up, whip up a simple dinner and get some work done first.
When the hour hand of the clock pointed at ten and there was still no news from He Juan, Mu Yuze finally couldn’t bear it anymore and hit the speed dial on his phone.
The dial tone only rang once before the call was connected. "Hello?" He Juan’s low and melodic voice echoed in his ears, laced with warm concern. "Do you need something, Xiao Ze?"
Sometimes, Mu Yuze couldn’t help but lament on how unfair things were— it took He Juan only a single utterance and gesture, and he could switch Mu Yuze’s mood as easily as breathing. Just like now, upon hearing the Alpha’s gentle voice, Mu Yuze could feel tension ebb away from his body, and his anxiety melted like a tiny block of ice under the blazing sun. He unconsciously relaxed and leaned back against the couch, hugging the cushion in his arms.
"Where are you?" Realizing that his question sounded a little too demanding, he was quick to rectify it, "I mean, I haven’t heard from you since you left the Bureau, so... I was wondering if you’re busy..."
He Juan let out a low chuckle, a bewitching sound that was both invigorating and unhealthy for his weak heart. "Is my little rabbit worried about me?" he teased.
"Gege!" Mu Yuze squeezed the cushion, his ears reddening.
"Alright, alright," He Juan muffled in his laughter. Mu Yuze picked up faint background noises through his phone. It sounded like He Juan was in a car...? Was he driving right now? "Gege will not tease you anymore. Sorry, I have something I need to take care of real quick, and I lost track of time."
If he asked what He Juan needed to take care of, would he tell? The Alpha did say that he wouldn’t hide anything anymore, right? Mu Yuze really wanted to try, but in the end, he chickened out and what came out of his mouth was only, "...Oh."
The subsequent silence that lingered between them felt a little too delicate, laden with unspoken words. Mu Yuze chewed on his bottom lip for a while before bringing the phone speaker closer to his mouth, as if whispering a secret, "I– I’ve prepared your room. It’s the same room you stayed in previously. Will you be coming?"
Only Mu Yuze himself understood the double meaning behind his words. The room he mentioned— it was He Juan’s room seven years ago before his departure, and also the room he stayed in temporarily after he lost his memory.
Call him cunning, but he’d heard somewhere that familiarity helped jog someone’s memory. Perhaps if He Juan were to stay there, he would begin to recall his lost memories. Of course, Mu Yuze wouldn’t pass up on the opportunity to keep the man close to him and live together again like they had done in the past.
The almost inaudible sound of He Juan sucking in a breath echoed from the other side. Then his voice sounded again, this time lower, huskier, tinged with something dark and dangerous. "You’re inviting me... to your house?"
Mu Yuze blinked once, and his face immediately exploded in crimson. His intention had been wholly pure when he extended the invitation to He Juan, but... why did the man have to go and make it seem like Mu Yuze was scheming something bad?! To make matters worse, he was once again reminded of the fact he’d learned just this evening— He Juan’s rut was near.
With the two of them alone in this enclosed space, in the middle of the night without anyone to disturb them...
Oh God, this invitation was indeed dangerous, wasn’t it?
But still— hadn’t he been yearning for this for the better half of his life?
Steeling himself, Mu Yuze forced himself to reply in the most casual tone he could muster. It was lucky that He Juan couldn’t see his face or else he would have found out what a frazzled mess Mu Yuze had become. "What do you mean? Isn’t this your house too? You bought it and unceremoniously decided to make me the owner, remember?"
Mu Yuze held his breath as He Juan’s soft laughter drifted in the air. Through the phone, it sounded as if He Juan was doing it right beside his ears. He could literally envision it with his eyes closed— the crinkle of He Juan’s silver eyes, the rumble of his chest, and the curl of his deviously perfect lips...
Mu Yuze braced himself for another round of teasing, but in the end, He Juan merely told him, "Don’t wait for me and go to sleep first. I will be a little late."
Yes! Mu Yuze quietly pumped his fists, his lips curving into a smile he couldn’t quite suppress. "I–It’s fine," he hurried to say amid the nervousness, anticipation and delight fluttering in his stomach. "I still need to work on something, so... I will wait for Gege. Come back soon."
He ended the call before He Juan could say anything to persuade him otherwise.

"This little rebellious rabbit..." He Juan couldn’t hold back a chuckle as he looked at his blackened screen.
Chen Youzhi glanced at him through the rearview mirror. "Is that Officer Mu?"
He Juan hummed in response, his silver eyes as soft and tender as moonlight. "After we’re done with this, let’s go back. Do you still remember the house I used to live in all those years ago? Just drop me off there."
"But... will you be okay, Boss?" Chen Youzhi inquired with hesitance. "In your current state..."
"Whatever can I do?" He Juan spread his hands helplessly as if he was left with no other choice, though the indulgence in his tone conveyed that he was ready to fulfill every wish from the other person, no matter how big or small it was. "Someone is waiting for me. If I didn’t come, he might cry himself to sleep."
