As He Juan scrolled through his phone’s music list, he finally realized a glaring oversight— he did not know any of the recently popular songs!

"Gege?" Mu Yuze asked, slightly nervous. "Is there something wrong?"

"Ah, nothing," He Juan grimaced before choosing an instrumental melody he was fairly familiar with. Let’s just go with this one then, he decided.

Soft and gentle tinkling of the piano drifted out of the phone, tinged with a hint of poignant yearning and melancholy. Placing it on the coffee table, He Juan turned to face Mu Yuze and grasped the omega’s slender hand. He bowed his head and planted a kiss on the back of the omega’s hand, asking formally, "May I have this dance, Sir?"

Mu Yuze let out an amused huff, his dark eyes glittering like midnight sky scattered with stars. Playing along with He Juan, he responded in mirth, "I’m afraid I don’t know how to dance, Sir. So you might have to teach me the moves."

Grinning, He Juan tightened his grip on Mu Yuze’s left hand, while leading Mu Yuze’s right hand to rest on his shoulder. "Here, hold on to me tightly..." as he spoke, he gently slid his arm around Mu Yuze’s waist and drew him closer until their chests were pressed against each other. Watching as a pretty rosy hue adorned Mu Yuze’s cheeks, He Juan began to sway their bodies in a slow and languid dance following the music. "It’s okay, Xiao Ze. Don’t look down at your feet. Just look at me... yes, what a good boy..."

The melodious piano filled the room, wrapping around them like a sprinkle of magic and making the night seem more mystifying. With the main light in the living room turned off, the night was only accentuated by the gentle moonlight streaming in through the window.

They stared into each other’s eyes deeply, entranced, and all of a sudden, it felt like everything ceased to exist— the living room, the walls, and the roof. It felt as though the sky had become their canopy, with soft grass beneath their feet as they danced to the ethereal tune of the wind.

Or at least, that’s how He Juan felt as he gazed into Mu Yuze’s eyes. "You have such an enchanting pair of eyes..." he murmured, placing tender kisses on Mu Yuze’s eyelids. "Have I ever told you before how beautiful they are? They’re dark, but not black. They remind me of the sea of night that reflects the stars. Dangerously breathtaking..." he trailed off when he noticed Mu Yuze holding his breath as if anticipating his next words, chuckling. "They make me want to drown in them, forever."

Mu Yuze’s lashes fluttered wildly as he released a shaky exhale. "Gege..." was all he could manage amidst the turbulent emotions raging in his heart. I love you, his heart desperately conveyed. I love you more than words can encapsulate, more than the heart can contain. Do you know, Gege? You’re my sunrise, my heartbeat, my everything.

The music built up, each note stacking atop each other to form a complex harmony. As the crescendo approached, He Juan twirled Mu Yuze in his arms before catching him squarely again, eliciting a loud gasp from the omega. He could almost feel the rapid and forceful rhythm of Mu Yuze’s heart from where their bodies were flushed against each other. Or was it his own? He could no longer tell.

"My sweet, pretty little mate..." He Juan’s voice came out more like a rumble from his chest as he gazed at Mu Yuze with all the love and tenderness in his heart. "What should I do with you?"

Mu Yuze unconsciously bit down on his lower lip, and the movement only drew He Juan’s attention there, his throat bobbing. Alas, Mu Yuze failed to catch that subtle reaction as he had his eyes fixed somewhere on He Juan’s collar, unable to bring himself to meet the intensity of the Alpha’s smoldering gaze.

In a desperate bid to mask his pounding heartbeat and bubbling emotions, he stammered out, "W–What song is this?"

He Juan let out a low chuckle, a sound so smooth and velvety that it send shivers down Mu Yuze’s spine. Leaning closer, He Juan muttered in a voice only both of them could hear, "Love me."

Mu Yuze’s breath snagged on his throat, his face ablaze. He knew that He Juan was only telling him the title of the song, but why... did it sound so...

The music ended way too soon, or maybe it was them who were too lost in each other. The gentle melody dissolved into silence, and they found themselves back in the dark living room. Yet somehow, the magic did not seem to have vanished entirely, as they couldn’t seem to take their eyes off each other, their breaths and heartbeats intertwined.

He Juan almost couldn’t hold back a chuckle when he noticed the flicker of disappointment in Mu Yuze’s eyes. But before the omega could step away, He Juan tightened his grasp around the slender waist and whispered beside his ear, "Wait."

Mu Yuze’s confused gaze turned into one of surprise and delight as the melody restarted once more from the beginning. He Juan’s lips curved into a deeper smile upon witnessing that. Whether it was ten years ago or now, why was it so easy to make his Xiao Ze happy?

A pang of bitter ache seeped into his heart when he realized that the only reason why a child could be so easily satisfied just with a lick of candy, was because they had seldom tasted it before. From this moment onwards, He Juan resolved to lavish Mu Yuze with so, so much sweetness until he would throw a temper tantrum if He Juan were to stop.

"Just now, I was showing you the moves," He Juan explained. "This time, shall we dance for real?"

Without a second thought, Mu Yuze nodded firmly, "Mn!"

The magic returned once more, this time stronger. It weaved into every nook and cranny of the room and saturated the very air they breathed.

Gradually, Mu Yuze’s movements became more fluid and confident, no longer as stiff and clumsy as they first started. Somewhere along the dance, his left hand slipped from the cradle of He Juan’s hand to lock behind He Juan’s neck, fingers weaving through the long silken hair. Simultaneously, He Juan’s hands remained securely on Mu Yuze’s hips. With their foreheads pressed together, they glided to the ethereal melody, simply basking in each other’s presence. It was a moment so precious they wouldn’t exchange it with anything else.

Mu Yuze found himself humming along with the music, a faint laughter escaping his lips.

He Juan was mesmerized by the sight of that blissful smile. He raised a hand to trace the curve of Mu Yuze’s lips, murmuring, "What is our Xiao Ze laughing at?"

"It’s nothing. Just that..." Mu Yuze’s eyes sparkled with pure joy. It was a sight so beautiful that He Juan wanted to etch it into his mind forever. "It’s a little funny to be doing this in the middle of the night when I’m in my pajamas and you in your crumpled shirt, don’t you think?"

"So what?" He Juan raised a brow and retorted righteously. "In my eyes, you still look like a dashing prince in expensive clothes."

"Gege!" Mu Yuze swatted him on the shoulder, without any strength of course. He tried his best to glare at He Juan despite knowing how silly he must have looked with his flushed face. "Since when did you become such a smooth-talker? You were not like this back then!"

"Back then, my dear," He Juan chuckled at how endearing he was. "was me holding myself back. Do you have any idea how hard it was to keep myself in check around you? You were just a minor, but you kept testing my limits again and again. Tsk, what a sinful little thing you are."

"You..." Mu Yuze stared at him wide-eyed, his face so red that it resembled a ripe tomato. He was almost breathless when he asked, "Back then, you... liked me too? I thought... I thought I was the only one..."

"Silly Xiao Ze." He Juan held the omega in his arms like he was holding the world’s most precious treasure. "You have no idea, don’t you? How much I’ve been yearning for this. For you."
