Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 636: I’m Not Afraid
Mu Yuze swore his heart stopped beating for a few seconds when he heard those words. Too shell-shocked, he could do nothing but gape at He Juan with an expression that must look extremely foolish, though that was the least of his concerns at the moment.
Those words... it was a confession, wasn’t it? Not that he had ever doubted He Juan’s feelings, given the depths of intimacy they had shared, but this... this was different.
This He Juan was the one who possessed the memories from seven years ago, the man who had appeared during the darkest times of Mu Yuze’s life and offered him a second chance. The love of his life, his salvation, his eternal yearning— everything he could have dreamed of. And to think that one day, he would hear from He Juan’s own mouth how his secret love had been returned all along...
How could it be possible?
Seven years ago, he was but a troublesome, bratty and unlovable teenager. To make He Juan stay, he had uttered so many hurtful words – words he wished he could take back. Nonetheless, He Juan still left decisively all the same. The sight of his detached back as he walked out of the door without hesitation still lingered within the edges of Mu Yuze’s dreams every now and then. So how could their feelings be the same?
But there was no way He Juan would lie to him, wasn’t there?
"Oh..." Mu Yuze blinked, tears welling up on his eyes.
All of a sudden, memories of the past flooded his mind. How many nights had he lain awake in the dead of the night, stewing in his insecurities while convincing himself that there was no way someone as perfect and amazing as He Juan would ever look his way? How many times had he nursed his own wounds at the notion that someday He Juan would have another omega by his side – a beautiful, gentle and elegant omega – rather than the pathetic orphaned Mu Yuze? And when that day came, he had to put on his best smiles and congratulated his Juan-gege, because the man deserved nothing but the best.
When He Juan left seven years ago, those useless thoughts faded to the back of his mind, and all he ever wished for was a glimpse of He Juan again, even if it meant he couldn’t stay by the man’s side.
But reality proved to be more inconceivable than his wildest dreams. Here He Juan was, holding him, dancing with him, telling him that he wanted no one but him, and gazing at him lovingly as if he was the most perfect creature under the sky...
"Xiao Ze..." Mu Yuze did not even realize he was crying until He Juan cupped his face and swiped his thumb across his cheek, a distressed look on his face. "Why are you crying? Have I said something wrong?"
"This..." Mu Yuze choked out as he shook his head. "This is happy tears. You have no idea... how much those words mean to me, Gege..."
With a helpless sigh, He Juan pulled him into a hug, one that Mu Yuze willingly fell into. He clasped his arms around He Juan’s sturdy back and clung onto the man like a lifeline, his tears soaking into the fabric of He Juan’s shirt. He Juan’s large hand caressed his back, and it felt so soothing that Mu Yuze almost burst out into tears once more.
"What a crybaby..." He Juan let out an indulgent huff. "I see that my little bunny has not changed since then. What should I do to rectify this, hmm? Will you feel better if I say it to you every single day?"
Against his will, Mu Yuze’s heart somersaulted in his chest. He doubted he could ever get used to this, even if He Juan were to repeat those words tens or even hundreds of times. This pulsing and bloody heart within his ribcage— it would always respond to He Juan’s every word and action. Only him. And it would never change until the end of the time.
Cradled within his Alpha’s protective embrace, Mu Yuze couldn’t help but pour out all the insecurities and grievances he had been holding in. "Am I enough?" he whispered, his voice shaky and frantic. "I–I know that we’re true mates, so you have no choice but to be stuck with me, but— hmmph!" His eyes widened in surprise when He Juan abruptly tilted his chin and sealed his lips with his own. At such close proximity, he almost became cross-eyed as he looked into He Juan’s stormy silver eyes.
Before Mu Yuze could react, their lips parted with a soft sticky sound. Gently wiping away his tears, He Juan chuckled in a mix of amusement and frustration. "You’re still holding onto these unnecessary thoughts after all these years. Well, I can’t exactly blame anyone but myself, can I? It seems like I haven’t done enough to convince my little bunny of the depths of my feelings..."
The hand cupping Mu Yuze’s face moved to the back of his neck, where his gland was. Mu Yuze’s entire body stiffened when he felt the scorching heat of He Juan’s skin right above his most sensitive part. Even with the gland patch separating them, Mu Yuze already felt weak all over; he couldn’t imagine how he would react without that. He Juan’s silver eyes bore down on him and oh— there it was again, the same sensation he had sensed from the Alpha earlier in the Bureau. He did not even utter a word, simply gazing down at Mu Yuze, yet those eyes seemed capable of holding his mind and body captive – almost as potent as the Alpha’s command itself.
Was this one of the invisible signs of the Alpha’s approaching rut?
He Juan’s jaws ticked, and his words sounded strained as if forced out through gritted teeth. Nonetheless, it was ever soft and gentle, giving the impression of being pinned under the massive paw of a beast who had its claws retracted. "If you knew..." he breathed, his voice gravelly and tinged with desperation. "If only you knew what’s going through my mind right now, Mu Yuze, you would run away from me. So please... don’t ever think that you’re not enough, okay? You will drive me insane, sweetheart."
Mu Yuze’s breathing abruptly picked up its pace. Out of nowhere, the words He Juan told him when they had just reunited again, when the man was struggling to hold back his impulses, echoed in his mind with vivid clarity:
"If I had not kept myself in check... if I had not restrained myself, I would have thrown you down onto this floor, forced you into submission until you bared your neck willingly for me, choking you with my pheromones until it bled into your veins... But that’s not all. Oh, that doesn’t even cover the tip of what I want to do to you, Mu Yuze..."
"I want to bite you... Not only your gland, but also your entire body. I will start from your slender neck, your collarbone, your chest... I will suck and gnaw on your nipples until they are red and swollen. I will imprint my marks on the skin above your womb so it will know whom it belongs to..."
"I will make you writhe under my body, cover you from head to toe with my marks. Do you want to see that happening, Mu Yuze? Do you want me to make you cry out until your voice grows hoarse, until these beautiful eyes of yours shed tears of pain and pleasure?"
Those vulgar and explicit words surged to the forefront of his mind, and the more he remembered, the deeper the blush spread across his face. Surely, He Juan couldn’t have recalled what he said back then anymore, but... did he still feel the same? Or was that only his pre-rut talking? Whatever it was, Mu Yuze could feel his inner temperature rising, and the urge to submit and present himself to the Alpha threatened to burn his sanity to crisp.
Oh no, this sensation... could it be...
No, it was not possible. His heat was still months away. The only reason why he was feeling like this must be because He Juan, his true mate, was entering rut and thus triggering his omega instinct.
Swallowing hard, Mu Yuze raised his head and stared right into He Juan’s eyes, withholding the mounting pressure. "I am not afraid," he declared, his voice full of determination. "Nothing you do will ever scare me away, Gege. So..."
Come at me with all you’ve got. Make me your rut partner, He Juan.
