Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 645: So Mean
Prime Minister Liang Yuanjun’s phone call struck again at 7 pm, demanding XIU’s immediate presence.
By now, even the dumbest would have noticed that she was trolling them. XIU clearly treated the interrogation room like his own house, so why would she be so concerned like a mother hen afraid that her chick would be bullied outside the nest? On the contrary, it was them who felt bullied by XIU, alright?!
Thanks to the discovery of the moles, the whole bureau was on edge, especially the Violent Crime Unit. They were so busy that they did not have the time to drink.
They had no choice but to let XIU go again, but not without the promise that he would have to answer the bureau’s summons if needed. Not long after XIU departed, a few delivery personnel arrived with large plastic bags filled with food from a famous restaurant nearby.
"Food delivery for the Violent Crime Unit, from Mr. He!"
Once again, the team erupted into a great ruckus. Everyone cursed and grumbled, "Damn it, who does XIU think we are?"
"Are we so easily bribed by food?!"
"What kind of approach is this? Giving us carrot after the earlier stick?! He’s one hell of a cunning guy!"
"He couldn’t have put poison in this, could he?"
Despite the ceaseless complaints, the officers still couldn’t resist the temptation and pounced on the food like a pack of hungry wolves, lamenting about how it was the best meal they’d had in ages, especially since they were free.
"Officer Mu Yuze? Which one is Officer Mu Yuze? This one is for you!"
Mu Yuze had originally intended to eat after he finished writing the report, but hearing his name called, he had no choice but to get up from his seat.
"Officer Mu Yuze?" Upon receiving Mu Yuze’s nod, the delivery man handed a separate plastic bag to him. "Here, this is yours."
Mu Yuze murmured his thanks before returning to his desk. Even without turning around, he could feel heated gazes on him, but he pretended not to notice as he took out the packages inside the plastic bag. At a glance, it was apparent that his food was more special than the others, featuring all his favorites. Not only that, he also had his share of dessert and juice.
"Wow!" Kang Guanyu slid his chair over and peered over Mu Yuze’s shoulder, whistling. "Look at that! Man, I’m so envious. Is this his way of apologizing to you?"
The corner of Mu Yuze’s lips twitched. He hadn’t intended to explain at first, but now that Kang Guanyu had offered him an excuse, he’d gladly take it. "It seems so."
Clicking his tongue, Kang Guanyu couldn’t help but shout at Li Zhi, who was busy stuffing his face with food. "Captain, can I be the one to question XIU next time?!"
Unfortunately, his request was shot down in a heartbeat as Li Zhi replied coldly, "Shut up and eat your food. We still have a lot of work to do after this."
"Waah!" Kang Guanyu dramatically rolled his chair back to his desk and mourned about his tragic fate as the stepchild of the team.
On the other hand, Mu Yuze stared at the spread of nutritious food before him for a while before picking up his chopstick, his expression inscrutable. It was unknown what was going through his mind, yet somehow, everyone could feel the low pressure emanating from him. Assuming that he was still affected by his earlier confrontation with XIU, they dared not bother him and opted to wolf down their own food instead.

When Mu Yuze reached home, the hour hand of the clock already pointed at one in the morning. He had not even take off his shoes yet when He Juan poked his head out of the kitchen and greeted him with a bright smile,
"Xiao Ze, you’re home! Geez, I know you will surely get busy, but one am? Your Captain is merciless. Omegas need to sleep early and take more care of themselves, can’t he see? It seems like I need to have a talk with him about this. On another note, I have this bowl of bird’s nest soup. I heard from Chen Youzhi that it would be good for your health, especially when you..."
He Juan held the warm bowl carefully in his hands as he approached Mu Yuze. However, he abruptly froze when the said omega coldly turned his head away and entered the house without acknowledging him.
"X–Xiao Ze?" He Juan stammered, aghast.
Mu Yuze giving him the cold shoulder was akin to a lightning strike on his head. His mind immediately raced as he tried to figure out the reason behind Mu Yuze’s rejection. What was it? Had he said something wrong? Or was it because Mu Yuze disliked the soup?! Unable to pinpoint the reason, He Juan hastily placed the bowl on the nearest available surface and chased after the omega, hovering around him nervously.
"Xiao Ze, are you angry? Has Gege done something wrong?"
"Heh..." came a sneer from Mu Yuze as he tossed his briefcase onto the couch. He still was not looking at He Juan. This was the first time Mu Yuze had acted like this toward him, leaving He Juan at an utter loss for what to do. The sight of the omega’s distant back made He Juan feel more flustered than when he was held at gunpoint.
However, Mu Yuze did not leave, and He Juan saw that as a silver lining. Unable to bear it anymore, he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around the omega from behind, squeezing him tight. He buried his face into the crook of Mu Yuze’s neck and murmured into the cold skin, "What is it? Can you tell me so that Gege can fix it for you?"
"Hmm?" He Juan prompted when he received no answer, swaying their bodies side to side. He gingerly scented Mu Yuze, but that only made the omega become more tense.
He finally snapped at He Juan, "Gege, do you have a split personality?"
That question came so suddenly that He Juan couldn’t react for a while. "...Huh?"
He Juan raised his head and peered at Mu Yuze’s face, only to find the man grumbling sullenly, "You’re acting all sweet and harmless now, but you’re so mean to me back in the bureau."
