CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 167: Short Exchange
"Oh?" Francesca smiled. Her smile was that of extreme interest and surprise.
She thought Selina was just a kitty who needed someone to guide and protect. But she wasn’t. Selina was already a lion of her own.
John also shared a smile. But his smile was insidious and wanting.
His company had been facing a lot of backlash recently because of sexual harassment. It was basically a marketing nightmare. The Atlas Seven needed a female Psychic to show the supernatural world that their workplace was better than what it actually was.
"It seems like I underestimated you, newbie." Francesca took out her cigarette holder and put a white slim cigarette inside. "However, power isn’t everything, girl. If you want to survive in this line of profession, join me."
Francesca flicked her finger and ignited the cigarette with her mind.
John leaned his head forward and stroked his blonde silky hair with both of his hands.
"If you know what is good for you, you will join the Atlas Seven. We have everything she has and more. Besides, can you really afford to upset me."
Little Mitch stepped forward and blurted out, "Hey! I don’t know who these fuckers are. But they just keep yapping and yapping since they got here. You two didn’t even ask Bis Sister’s name yet!"
"Yeah! Who do you think you are?"
"Get out of here! Don’t bother our Big Sister!"
"Leave her alone!"
"Oh? Big Sister, huh? I see you have made yourself quite famous amongst them." Francesca smiled deeply.
John cracked his neck, "Enough of this nonsense! Just accept my offer already!"
Selina nodded, "You’re right."
John smiled arrogantly while Francesca’s expression darkened.
"This nonsense has gone long enough. I don’t want to join either of you."
Selina turned to Detective Flintstone, "Do you need me to stay behind for a report?"
Chase smiled brightly. As long as Selina didn’t join the Corpos, he was happy.
"No need, Selina. We will notify you about the reward later."
Selina nodded, "Let’s go Mater."
The goth girl and the jaguar left. Francesca stood aside for her to live but John didn’t.
John squinted his eyes, "You will regret this."
"You haven’t been punched before, have you?" Selina said.
"Excuse me?"
Selina clenched her gauntlet and delivered a devastating blow at John’s face. He was sent flying. His body rolled on the ground countless times.
John’s specialty was Chaos Flesh and the enhanced Psionic version. Because of that, his body was basically indestructible.
He didn’t understand that his invulnerability was only true for power at human level. There were many things that could hurt him. Things like Selina.
John felt pain for the first time.
He got back on his feet. His cheek was swollen because of the punch. All the Psychics looked at him.
They didn’t laugh. But he felt like they were. John’s eyes lit up in red. Not Chaos red. But a bright neon red.
"Are you going to explode here, Titan?" Francesca smirked.
Selina faced him and didn’t bulge. The Nether Sword was already in her hand. "Come."
John breathed heavily. He looked around. He saw the disgust in Chase’s expression. The contempt in Francesca. And the utter indifference in Selina.
Selina really didn’t know him. She also didn’t care.
"I will remember this day."
John shot up in the sky and disappeared.
"He can fly?!" Loretta blurted out.
Francesca took a long puff at her cigarette, "An ordinary Psionic skill. Though it can cost quite a lot of NES. Only those with a gigantic Psycho Force like him could do that."
Francesca took a close look at Loretta. Loretta’s Psycho Force was nothing special but she got looks. It just so happened that she adored beautiful women. Her guild had too many men already.
"Wanna join the Obscure Association?"
"Me?" Loretta widened her eyes.
Becky pulled Loretta’s arm and whispered in her ear, "These corporations all have a catch. I suggest you do more research about them before doing anything."
Loretta nodded then turned to Francesca, "Do you have any business card? I can contact you later."
Francesca already took out a card and gave it to Loretta, "Remember to call me."
She winked at Loretta.
Selina grabbed the Abyssal Helmet and removed it. Francesca wasn’t that persistent, even though she was a bit arrogant. With John gone, no threat was present.
When her connection with the Abyssal Helmet disappeared, Selina immediately felt a sharp pain in her mind. The Helmet made the pain and psychotic effect of the Psycho Force completely disappear. However, after removing it, the negative effects came back twice as strong.
"You’re right, Mater. I shouldn’t use this helmet." Selina’s voice went soft as usual. Her intimidation while in the Dark Knight form was gone.
Selina tossed the Helmet to Mater. The black jaguar jumped up and swallowed the helmet. It also turned back into a small kitty and landed on Selina.
"Woah!" Little Mitch’s eyes lit up in admiration.
Becky and Loretta couldn’t help but be impressed as well.
"Hey, you guys! Want to eat something? I pay." Selina said.
"Of course." Becky said.
"If you’re paying." Loretta nodded.
"Yes, Big Sister!" Little Mitch said.
"Not you." Selina pointed to Little Mitch. "Girls only."
"Aw..."
The three girls disappeared from the premises, leaving the confused Psychics and the government employees.
"Well. You guys can leave now. Don’t worry. You still have your reward for helping contain the NCEs for the last few weeks. But obviously, your reward won’t be as much as Selina. She ended the contamination." Chase grabbed a megaphone and said.
"You don’t need to explain, Detective. No one is comparing themself with Big Sister."
"Gooday, Detective. Call our team when you have a similar case."
"Hey, can we help with cleaning up the place? We want to see the aftermath of Big Sister’s battle."
"Well. If anyone wants to stay behind and help, you are welcome to. We will adjust your reward accordingly. But remember, you must follow my orders exactly!"
Chase led the government employees and the remaining Psychics inside the mansion.
Everyone froze when they saw the altar building.
The roof had holes as big as cars. A godly amount of ice covered everywhere. The wooden floorboard was wrecked with countless holes and wood splinters.
It looked like a bomb had gone off here.
"What exactly happened here?" Chase blurted out.
A few Psychics took their phones out and photographed the aftermath of the building.
