Chapter 203: Broken Record

Anton woke up with a smile, feeling a sense of happiness and warmth from being able to share the bed with Mary throughout the night. π‘“π‘Ÿβ„―π˜¦π“Œπ˜¦π˜£π‘›π‘œπ“‹π‘’π“.𝑐ℴ𝓂

That smile on his face vanished in an instant as he turned around, only to find Mary’s side of the bed empty. Confusion and concern filled his thoughts as he wondered where she could be and why she wasn’t there with him.

Alarmed, he swiftly got out of bed and searched the closet and the bathroom, hoping to find Mary. However, to his dismay, she was nowhere to be found. His worry deepened as he wondered where she could have gone and why she had left without a trace.

As he turned around, Anton’s eyes fell upon the empty space where Mary’s bag had been placed the previous night. Realizing that she must have taken it with her, a glimmer of hope flickered within him. Perhaps she was in the dining area, enjoying her breakfast. He made his way to the dining room, hoping to find Mary there.

Anton’s housekeeper greeted him with a warm smile as he entered the dining area. "Good morning, sir. Coffee?" she asked, offering him a cup of coffee to start his day.

Anton took a moment to collect his thoughts before turning to the housekeeper. With a concerned tone in his voice, he asked, "Have you seen Mary?" He hoped that she might have some information about Mary’s whereabouts, as he was growing increasingly worried about her sudden disappearance, especially with what happened last night.

"She took off an hour ago. She said she has a lot to do today and she needs to go to Amy before going to work," It was Roana who answered his question.

"I see. Perhaps she needs her to sign some papers..." Anton uttered his words softly, his gaze fixated on the closed door. As he stared, his mind drifted away, lost in a sea of thoughts and unanswered questions.

Anton’s mind wandered as he reflected on Mary’s responsibilities in Bellory. He understood that she had a lot on her plate right now, especially with Amy being on leave. Perhaps, he reasoned, she had pressing matters that required her immediate attention, causing her to leave without a word.

Though he had hoped to have a conversation with her before they both went to work, he resigned to the situation. He decided to give her space and time, trusting that they would eventually have the opportunity to talk.

Amy was still sleeping when Mary arrived in the hospital but Henry let her in, "Mary, can you stay with her for a while? I just need to make some phone calls and get updates about the investigation." Mary nodded before Henry made his way out of the room.

Mary settled down with her laptop, intending to make use of the time by addressing some emails. However, as she began typing, she realized that her mind was completely blank. No words flowed from her thoughts to her fingertips.

Every time she tried to type something, her mind inevitably drifted to Anton and the vivid image of him touching himself under the shower the previous night. The memory was intrusive, making it nearly impossible for Mary to concentrate on her work. She closed her laptop for a moment, taking a deep breath in an attempt to clear her mind.

However, the image persisted, replaying in her thoughts like a broken record. The intensity of her embarrassment and the overwhelming desire to avoid Anton made it difficult for her to focus on anything else.

"You must have been thinking about something lewd for you to blush that hard," Amy chuckled, observing her best friend’s face turning even redder as she was caught off guard.

Mary stammered, trying to find a response that would downplay the situation. "N-No, it’s not... I mean, it’s nothing like that. I was just... um, lost in thought."

Amy raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Lost in thought, huh? Well, whatever it was, it seems to have left quite an impression on you. Do you want to talk about it?"

Mary shifted uncomfortably in her seat, her mind racing to come up with a plausible explanation. "Honestly, it’s really nothing. Just a random memory that caught me off guard."

Pausing for a moment, Mary could not hold it off anymore. Amy is her best friend, and they tell each other almost everything, especially the things that are bothering them.

Taking a deep breath, Mary decided to open up to Amy. She knew that keeping it all to herself would only weigh her down further. "Amy, there’s actually something that happened yesterday," she began, her voice hesitant.

Amy leaned forward, her expression attentive. "What is it, Mary? You know you can tell me anything."

Mary glanced around to ensure that the door is closed before continuing. "Well, last night... I accidentally walked into the bathroom while Anton was in the shower."

Amy’s eyes widened in surprise. "You saw him...?" she trailed off, her voice trailing into a whisper.

Mary nodded, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Yes, I did. I didn’t mean to intrude, and I was so shocked that I couldn’t react right away. It was a mistake, Amy."

Amy placed a reassuring hand on Mary’s arm. "Hey, accidents happen. It’s not like you did it on purpose. I’m sure Anton understands that."

Mary sighed, feeling a mix of relief and guilt. "I hope so, but it was so awkward afterward. I avoided him this morning, I left before he woke up and now I can’t focus on work because my mind keeps going back to it."

Amy smiled gently. "Sometimes, the best way to deal with these things is to address them directly. Talk to Anton, apologize if you feel it’s necessary, and clear the air between you. It might feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s better than letting it linger and affect your relationship."

"But I can’t..." Mary said.

"What do you mean you can’t?" Amy asked further, confused about Mary’s answer.

"I don’t have the guts to talk to him. He approached me after what happened, saying he wants to talk. But I just didn’t just see him showering... I... I saw him j-jerking o-off," Mary stuttered saying the last part.

"WHAT?!" Amy burst out.
