CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 269: Naughty, Naughty Girl
Upon extending her congratulations to her cousin, Amy promptly approached Mary with a question, "I thought this party was for your announcement? Was that the announcement already?" she inquired.
"Yes, you’re correct," Mary affirmed. "In truth, I assisted Rei in concealing the true purpose of this dinner. I initially proposed alternative ideas, such as a public proposal in the park, but he preferred a private setting with just a select group of family and friends," she explained.
Amy let out a sigh and crossed her arms, clearly displaying her disappointment. "What a bummer," she expressed. "Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled about Sandra and Rei’s engagement, but I had been anticipating something different," she added, conveying her unmet expectations for a different kind of news.
Mary raised an eyebrow and inquired, "So, what exactly were you expecting?"
Amy shrugged and responded, "I don’t know, news about you. Maybe if you were getting married or perhaps if you were expecting a baby?"
Mary playfully pinched Amy’s side, causing her to squeal in surprise. "You naughty, naughty girl!" Mary exclaimed. "If anyone should be making that announcement, it should be you first. Then, I’ll gladly follow in your footsteps," she teased, and both of them shared a hearty laugh together, enjoying the lighthearted moment.
The night was filled with a delightful atmosphere of food and music, Mary extended an invitation to the mansion workers to join in the celebration. However, amidst the general merriment, three men stood by the bar, holding their glasses, their expressions reflecting a lack of contentment or happiness.
Henry approached Rei with an apologetic tone, expressing his regret, "Bro, I’m sorry that this situation unfolded just before the day of your planned proposal."
Rei reassured Henry, saying, "No need to worry about it. We were actually expecting something like this to happen."
Anton chimed in, adding, "Well, we did anticipate some complications, but perhaps not to this extent." He took a sip of his wine, acknowledging the unexpected outcome of the bad news they received yesterday.
Rei turned to Henry and inquired, "When do you plan on telling Amy?"
Henry responded, "I’ll wait until tomorrow to tell her. Let her enjoy this day without any distractions. Today is all about you and Sandra, and it’s truly amazing to think that we’ll be officially family soon! You’ll be my cousin-in-law, right?" Henry exclaimed, to which Rei nodded in agreement, acknowledging the impending familial bond.
Anton expressed a touch of jealousy, stating, "Now I’m feeling envious. Is there such a thing as a ’best friend-in-law’?" He posed the question with a hint of seriousness, but it was met with laughter from Henry and Rei, recognizing the spontaneousness of the remark.
Amy, Mary, and Sandra caught sight of the three best friends sharing a moment of laughter, a sight that never failed to bring them joy. It was a scene they would never tire of witnessing—the bond between Henry, Anton, and Rei, reinforcing the strength of their friendship.
"What are you laughing about?" Sandra asked the men. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Rei beamed with happiness as he hugged Sandra and shared the news, saying, "Once we’re married, Henry and I will officially become cousins-in-law! Isn’t that amazing? We’ll be a true family, legally and officially." His excitement and joy were evident as he expressed his delight at the upcoming familial union.
Sandra responded with a touch of sarcasm, saying, "Oh-kay..." Her remark elicited laughter from Amy and Mary, who found humor in Sandra’s playful response.
Amy playfully interjected, urging Sandra to let her fiancé celebrate his newfound family affiliation. She added, "It’s definitely something to celebrate. So, should I start calling you ’cuz’ now?" Amy’s jesting tone continued to foster a light and humorous atmosphere among the group.
Rei responded with a grateful tone, saying, "That would be music to my ears, Amy. Thank you!" He expressed his appreciation for the playful banter and embraced the idea of being referred to as "cuz" by Amy, further solidifying their bond.
"Come on, let’s hit the dance floor!" Mary exclaimed, encouraging the three men to join in the fun instead of discussing mundane business matters. With a playful gesture, she grabbed Anton and Henry by their arms, leading them toward the lively dance area. Sandra also followed suit, eager to join in the festivities.
Rei and Amy decided to stay by the bar, where Amy poured herself a glass of red wine while observing the party from their spot.
"Rei, I want to thank you for loving my cousin," Amy expressed sincerely. "Their childhood wasn’t easy, and I know yours wasn’t either. Please take good care of her," she added, her words reflecting a deep sense of gratitude. Amy then raised her wine glass in a toast to Rei, celebrating their relationship and the happiness it brought to Sandra.
Rei chuckled warmly and reassured Amy, saying, "I will definitely take care of her, Amy. You don’t have to worry about that. Plus, I know that both Henry and you would come after me if I ever made her cry, right?" Making them both chuckle.
"You bet. But that’s not what I want to talk to you about. I actually wanted to ask about Ash. You’ve been working closely with him for quite some time on Josephine’s case. Is he doing okay?" Amy asked nervously. She was truly concerned about Ash’s well-being and wanted to ensure that he was doing fine.
Rei asked with curiosity, "Are you no longer angry with him?" He is really curious if Amy’s feelings towards Ash had changed since the last time they had seen each other.
"Well, I-I–"
Rei provided an update, saying, "He’s doing fine, Amy. In fact, I believe he’s dating someone now if I interpreted things correctly."
Amy smiled and her eyes glistened, "Really? I am really hoping that he finds someone who will truly love him and he will love as well."
"He will come around. Maybe someday, you, Mary, and he can rebuild the friendship that you once had," Rei said as he pats Amy’s shoulder before walking towards the dance floor, leaving Amy to her thoughts.
