Chapter 30: Meeting Trinee’s Family
Viewing the city from the back of a dragon was a surreal experience seeing all the vendors open and the bustling streets busy. Trinee flew close enough for Lily to see the people in the city then made a loop to a landing spot on the eastern side. She landed gently bending low so Lily could hope off.
Lily stepped to the side to wait for her friend to shift looking at the entrance to the city. Trinee walked up tapping her on the shoulder to which Lily gave her the cloths she held on to. Quickly dressing Trinee adjusted her cloths then grabbing Lily’s hand leading her to the city entrance.
"What kind of food where you wanting to get? Do you need a storage cabinet put in you room? There’s this lovely place near where I grew up that has the best fruits! Lets check that place out first." Trinee spoke a mile a minute causing Lily’s head to spin.
"Whoa slow down there, little dragon. I still like meat, but I will go hunting later. The cabinet would be helpful, but how am I going to get it back to the castle? I am NOT making you carry that!" Lily said pointing her finger at Trinee who pouted. "I could do it! Hmph!"
Lily covered her laugh as they moved through the streets the people bartering or trading. The merchants haggling their price while buyers work out deals for payment. Trinee steered her a few more block in before stopping at a little market similar to the one Gramma had. *Figures.*
Lily thought walking in with her. Similar to where she used to shop Trinee took her to the back area where the deli was a friendly old dragon greeting her. "Trinee! Its been a while. They working you to hard, you look so thin. Here we gonna fix that right now. Mar get out here this girl is skin and bones!"
The man made Lily smile with the care he showed to Trinee who only blushed nodding her head for the food. "This is my friend Lily Wolfman. She is a new researcher at the castle helping me with the assignments we have. Lily this is Bar. He and his wife Mar run this little shop." Trinee introduced them as another dragon came out a smile lighting up her face.
"Trinee, my goddess its been ages. Your not eating enough again. Bar make sure to give her extra for later. And who’s this?" The female dragon named Mar asked with interest looking Lily up and down. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
"This is Lily she just graduated from the academy and came here for work. She works as a research with me." Trinee explained as Lily bowed to the two dragons in respect. "Its a pleasure to meet you. Are you family to Trinee?" The old couple smiled as Mar answered her.
"In a manner of speaking. Her mother is our adopted daughter we took in after her family through her out bare foot and pregnant with Trinee here." Lily stiffened hearing this knowing her won situation. "You are good people and you remind me of my own adopted Gramma. She helped me too when I needed food. I’m glad to hear there’s more creatures like her."
The couple worked while listening handing Trinee her food then handing Lily a covered tray of food as well. "What do I owe you?" Lily tried to pay never wanting to take from good people. "No charge. If you need any other foods while your here leave a list at the front so we can make sure to have it on hand for you."
Lily was shocked they would do this after one meeting making her feel a bit self conscious. "Are you sure? I can always make do if necessary," Lily said not wanting to put them out. Bar grunted saying, "Bah! Don’t worry so much. We take care of family."
This warmed Lily’s heart nodding as she thanked them for the food then walked around the store grabbing a few supplies she needed. She wrote everything down and added the frequency in which she usually bought the items listed. Trinee shopped as well grabbing the things she needed even a few things she didn’t. Taking their haul up to the counter Mar pulled out two large pack to put the goods in.
"So how much?" Lily tried asking one more time feeling guilty for not paying. "Don’t worry about it. If we need help you’ll be one of the first we ask, okay?" Mar reassured her. Lily brighten a bit hearing this hoping she would be of help to them some day. "You better. I’ll be here in a heart beat. Don’t hesitate to ask."
Mar and Bar nodded waving them off as the made their way thru town their packs strapped to them. Lily wanted to see if she could find a furniture place when she was shoved into a dark alley. A group of dragons, werewolves, and a shadowy figure to the back tried surrounding her. "Look I don’t want trouble," Lily tried to reason with them only to hear them chuckle darkly.
The shadowy figure in the back of the group spoke, "You never cause trouble, but it always find you, correct?" Lily went to step back to run when the werewolves charged her first forcing her to jump straight into the air and the wolves to collide with each other.
The dragonmen standing there kick into action leaping to capture her only to be knocked down by a swinging kick from Lily. She kicks off of them landing at the edge of the alley where Trinee happen to be yelling her name, "Lily?! Lily!"
Not wanting her friend to get involved she moved to finish them quickly, but they had vanished as fast as they attacked her. She heard and echo down the alley saying, "We will meet again, Princess."
Trinee rushed to her grabbing her arms asking, "Are you okay? Who were those guys?" Lily had a bad feeling about them especially with eh princess comment at the end. "Not sure, but I’’l find out soon enough." Trinee held her hand as they moved to make their way quickly to the landing area at the entrance still feeling as if someone was watching them.
