Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Why Have You Been So Sleepy Lately?

"Miss Tina, we’re playing a game over there. Do you want to join us?"

Tina Huxley had no mind to play games at all; she wished she could just rush over and push Summer Lowell into the sea.

Melanie Sinclair glanced at Tina’s face and guessed what she was thinking, intentionally adding fuel to the fire by mentioning Summer in the distance: "Big brother and sister-in-law have such a good relationship. It’s the first time I’ve seen big brother so gentle."

Tina ground her teeth, unable to hold back her hatred, sarcastically said: "People who are all about climbing up have their ways. We can’t help but be impressed."

Seeing that her words had an effect, Melanie’s lips curled slightly, subtly fanning the flames further: "Miss Tina, do you know that Miss Lowell? You seem quite familiar with each other."

"Of course, I know her. She once worked as Maxim’s secretary. Later, she committed an unforgivable mistake and left without saying goodbye," Tina tilted her head back and drank more than half of the bottle of wine in one go, "What game are you playing? Count me in."

"They’re playing board games." Melanie was a bit dissatisfied with her reaction, "You’re right. She seems to be quite crafty, and so does big brother. He doesn’t know how to cherish the bright jade right before him, instead so easily falling into someone else’s trap."

Tina remained silent, letting her talk.

Melanie, seeing her unmoved, leaned closer under the guise of drunkenness: "Many in the Sinclair Family aren’t satisfied with this Mrs. Sinclair. In our opinion, big brother should marry someone of equal standing."

Tina looked at her, initially unwilling to engage, but after a moment, couldn’t help but ask: "Who in the Sinclair Family could make decisions for your big brother?"

Melanie chuckled, didn’t answer, and turned to sit beside her companions, starting to play games together.

Tina looked at the two figures fishing intimately by the side of the yacht, gave a bitter smile, and joined in the games.

Half an hour after the yacht departed from the island, it stopped. Summer turned around and looked; all around was endless ocean, with no trace of the island visible.

Maxim Sinclair followed her gaze, then curiously asked her: "What are you looking at?"

Summer squatted down, freeing herself from Maxim’s embrace: "I want to go get a drink of water. You can keep fishing."

She had only taken a couple of steps when a strong wind suddenly arose from the sea. Summer reached out to stabilize herself by grasping the nearby mast tightly.

Seeing this, Maxim put down his fishing rod, came over to wrap his arm around her waist, and steered her towards the lower deck of the yacht.

"Don’t be afraid, this wind is normal, it’ll stop soon," Maxim reassured her, noticing her shaky legs, and patted her shoulder comfortingly.

Maxim was right. After a while, the wind gradually died down.

Summer watched the group play games below for a while, feeling bored, she ran upstairs again to find Maxim who was still fishing: "When will this yacht return?"

"Are you bored?" Maxim patted the small stool beside him, "If you’re bored, come sit with me and fish." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Summer looked around, then sat on the stool, continuing to ask Maxim: "When will you finish fishing, and can we return to the island afterward?"

"No rush," Maxim handed her a bottle of water, then pointed to the sky, "You haven’t seen stars over the ocean, have you? Today I brought you here not just to fish and feel the breeze, but also to let you enjoy the starlit sky. We’ll go back after watching the stars."

"What about them?" Summer pointed to the people playing games below on the other side, "They surely wouldn’t like staying too long, but they’re restrained by your influence and don’t dare say anything."

"Aren’t you voicing their concerns?" Maxim teased her with a smile, Summer ignored him, turning to gaze at the boundless ocean.

Seeing she truly looked bored, Maxim called over the waiting security officer and asked them to bring Summer a deck chair.

"If you’re really bored, you can lie on the deck chair, feel the breeze, sunbathe, nap, whatever you like. When night falls and the stars appear, I’ll call you."

Summer looked around; indeed, there was nothing else to pass the time. So, she took off her jacket, lay on the deck chair, and promptly dozed off.

When she awoke, night had already deepened.

Summer opened her eyes, looking at Maxim who had woken her up: "Can we go back now?"

Maxim smiled helplessly, pinched her cheek lightly: "Look at you, you’re so drowsy."

Summer avoided his hand, patted her face to wake herself up, shook her head, and sat up straight to look at the sky above: "Have the stars come out yet?"

Maxim shook his head: "No, there are too many clouds hiding the stars, and it seems like it’s about to get windy again."

"Then let’s hurry back," Summer put on her jacket, yawning widely, "It’s getting late anyway, let’s go back to sleep."

"You’ve already slept for almost three hours, how can you still be sleepy? You weren’t usually this drowsy." Maxim handed the fishing gear to the security officer who’d been standing by, "Could you please take it back down for me?"

Awoken Summer had a bit of morning grumpiness: "It’s dark, there are no stars, and you said the wind will start again soon. Why stay here instead of hurrying back?"

"True, let’s hurry back then." Maxim said, extending his hand to her, "It’s windy up here, and riding the wind back could easily make you catch a cold. Let’s go down."

Summer shook her head, declined his invitation: "You can go by yourself. It’s too noisy down there; I don’t want to sit with them."

Maxim squinted slightly, staring at Summer who dared not meet his gaze: "Is it that you don’t want to sit with them, or don’t want to be seen with me?"

In truth, it was both. Earlier in the afternoon, when Summer went down out of curiosity to join the activity, she was surrounded by several people subtly probing into her relationship with Maxim.

Especially Tina, the look in her eyes when she saw Summer was unbearably uncomfortable.

Summer had had enough in just that little while downstairs.

Now she’d rather stay up here and endure half an hour of sea breeze returning to the island than go down and meet Tina’s gaze.

Tina’s look... it was as if Summer had taken something from her.

It’s truly ironic.

"I just like the evening sea breeze," Summer dodged the question, turned around, and held onto the railing, "The night sea breeze feels nice. Besides, we’re not far from the island; catching some wind will take us there."

"Fine by me, I’ll enjoy the breeze with you. Besides, I’m not familiar with the people down there either."
