Damned Healer-Chapter 756: Arrogant Insect
Under a mantle of heavy black clouds, four massive, radiant Beasts lit up the world. The Ice Phoenix radiated absolute cold in bluish crystals, while the Fire Phoenix set the sky ablaze with vivid crimson flames; beside them, the Behemoth hovered like an imposing mountain of yellowish earth.
Meanwhile, the Divine Dragon carried an aura of antiquity and arrogance in emerald green, along with a crushing pressure. Together, these four primordial entities ignited an instinctive, silent terror in everyone on the planet—and even outside it.
All four of them had their gaze fixed on a single point.
"Who’s this brat?" Suddenly, a dry and powerful voice echoed across the entire planet.
Darian focused his eyes on the owner of the voice: the Behemoth. This beast was alive and well nowadays. He lived on the same planet where Darian was born and raised, and Darian met him when he was still a child. His mother introduced him as...
...the family pet. Literally.
He would shrink his size down to something similar to that of a large dog from Earth, and sometimes he would play with Darian when he was a kid. Thinking about it now... that was pretty ridiculous.
But the Behemoth was a simple figure and very easy to deal with, with no real malice at all. He didn’t work or use his powers for anything; he just slept and ate all day, and sometimes went on a few walks "to digest the food" before going right back to sleep.
In his life, when he was Denil, the problem that tormented him came from the fact that he was a human born with an extremely dense primordial bloodline mixed into his body. He was similar to a Mannaz.
The human bloodline was very fragile and prone to degradation by primordial power. But for someone with a firm and focused mind, that problem would’ve been easy to nullify.
But... Denil was someone who already had a tendency to be a bastard idiot and let himself go, becoming completely corrupted. In the end, the Behemoth’s bloodline was just an excuse for him to do whatever he wanted. It wasn’t the Behemoth’s fault.
Back to the present, Darian understood that the Behemoth in front of him was a copy from the time his karma connected with Denil, millions and millions of years ago.
"Darian?"
"Yes, it’s him."
The voices of the two phoenixes sounded melodic.
Darian smiled slightly. Even with a different body and appearance, the two of them recognized him immediately, since he had met them when he was already Darian.
He felt quite grateful to both of them. The inheritance they gave him had been incredibly useful on his journey. They even gave him the Nivarnic Flames, which helped him physically resurrect once.
Suddenly, a voice full of disdain echoed out.
"Meh... It’s just a human insect, a little stronger than usual. Where the hell did I end up?"
Darian turned his gaze toward the Divine Dragon, trying to understand who exactly stood before him. In truth, he never interacted directly with the Divine Dragon, only with its reincarnation, Niara.
They connected their karmas, obviously, but the laws of the world brought her in her original form, which felt a bit forced. To be truly fair, the one who should’ve appeared was the Celestial Shadow... or maybe—
’My father influenced things a little.’ Darian murmured mentally, certain of it.
His family was definitely watching everything, and his father had subtly moved the pieces without directly breaking the rules, bringing this ancestral form of Niara... which was obviously far more powerful and difficult than if it had been the Celestial Shadow. The question was: why?
"So we’re reflections created by the laws of the world, huh? That means this human is connected to us, and we have to attack him." The Behemoth muttered thoughtfully.
"Indeed." The Ice Phoenix nodded.
The Fire Phoenix looked at him lightly. "Darian, it seems you’ll have to defeat us. I can feel something inside me starting to push me to attack with everything. Are you ready?"
Darian sighed, thinking quickly.
Then...
His eyes locked onto the amber eyes that hadn’t looked away from him for even a second.
Darian crossed his arms behind his back and shook his head slowly, wearing a look of deep disappointment.
"What a shame..."
Those massive amber eyes narrowed, focusing on the tiny man in front of them.
"When I finally thought I’d found something of value... turns out it’s just the pathetic illusion of a dragon. Look at those scales... they’d make a decent suit of armor. Those horns and claws? Maybe a few shiny daggers... but it seems the heavens tricked me."
"YOU!" A thunderous voice exploded. Across the entire planet, cultivators felt their ears bleed, and their organs vibrate; many spat blood uncontrollably.
"Silence. You’re just a slightly bigger lizard... no, actually, you’re less than that. You’re just a ridiculous projection," Darian’s voice dripped with mockery.
"I’ve already killed plenty who called themselves ’Primordials’, and in the end, they weren’t worth the effort. But you... Ah, yes! We have an obvious karmic connection. You were that so-called ’Divine Dragon’ who tried to devour the universe itself, failed miserably, and died hugging your own failure, right? I was there. I found your corpse... I’ll admit it was a little past its prime, but with the right seasoning it made a magnificent stew. You served to fill my stomach, and even yielded a few mediocre pills. Be proud! You didn’t die for nothing. That’s already an incredible achievement for a loser like you."
**CRACK!!!**
The heavens shattered. The firmament was covered by colossal spatial fractures spreading like spider webs.
"HOW DARE YOU BLASPHEME ME?!"
The scream of pure hatred echoed beyond the atmosphere, vibrating across the entire galaxy.
"I SWEAR YOU WILL BEG FOR DEATH! BUT YOU WILL LIVE AN ETERNITY OF AGONY!"
"Meh, work hard, kid. I’ll be waiting... oh! Right, I forgot—you’re already dead and don’t exist." Darian shrugged. "You lived a pathetic life, made pathetic decisions, and had a... let’s see... pathetic end. In the end, I made good use of your body. Don’t worry, I had a great digestion."
**RUMBLE!**
With a swipe of the Dragon’s claw, a wave of destruction capable of collapsing the heavens crashed down on him.
But Darian appeared hundreds of meters away, completely unharmed, a crooked smile on his face.
"Easy there, easy there. I already said you were useful, didn’t I?" He waved his hand like he was shooing away a fly. "Don’t be so noisy. When a fly gets too annoying, it ends up getting crushed pretty quickly. I know! Come on, attack with everything you’ve got in a single strike. I promise I won’t defend myself or run."
"GOOD! YOU SAID THAT YOURSELF, YOU ARROGANT INSECT! I’LL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER SEE ANOTHER DAY!"
The dragon roared with pure hatred. In the very same second, its body pulsed as all its power was mobilized at once.
The two phoenixes and the Behemoth were stunned. How could this Primordial Dragon have such a short fuse? But then they felt Darian’s gaze turn toward them, and they looked back at him in silence.
The three understood it was part of his plan. None of them minded helping him—after all, they knew they weren’t living entities, but they did have some karma with him.
Darian took a deep breath, somewhat relieved. He knew Niara like the back of his hand. She had been a completely different person when he met her, but her ancestral pride and arrogance still existed inside her. Niara had simply learned to control it and think more about the people around her.
But this version of Niara standing before him was an extrapolation of that side of her. For him, who knew her story, it was easy to pour alcohol straight into that wound.
When his wife lost her temper, she stopped thinking and only wanted to act impulsively. If she had reflected for a moment, she would’ve realized it was far better to kill him using her power together with the others, wearing him down little by little—not attacking all at once.
The four primordial entities pulsed in sync.
Darian clenched his fists and focused as much as he could.
It would be all or nothing.
This was the best chance he could come up with, and possibly the exact chance his father had helped him obtain. If he had to fight these four head-on and truly defeat them, he would certainly lose. But now, with all of them throwing everything they had at him at once... There was a chance.
After all...
At his core, he was a healer.
But he was closer to a Damned Healer.
"DIE!!!!"
The Divine Dragon roared with everything it had, and all the glow of its ethereal body went dark. 100% of its power was used in a single move.
Right beside it, the other three did the same. They didn’t know how Darian would deal with this, but they trusted he had a plan.
And so, four apocalyptic waves fell at the same time.
The earth exploded, and a powerful shockwave spread out, causing the expressions of every cultivator on the planet to change. They were forced to retreat in complete desperation.
This was practically a strike capable of destroying heaven and earth.
It was also an unavoidable strike.
This attack didn’t only contain terrifying power, but also the control and mastery of four Primordial Beasts.
Outside the planet.
Everyone stood in silence, eyes wide.
"D-Did he die?"
