Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 289
Thomas and Maya tried their best, but the food was burnt.
"Aaron, dear, you must be hungry. Go freshen up, and we will make food in a short while", the couple spoke.
Aaron smiled, thinking about eating food his parents cooked and smiled, "Okay", and he went to his old room. When he opened the door, things were as they were when he left.
His parents cleaned the room regularly, but they kept his things as they used to be. They didn’t change anything.
Seeing the scene, Aaron subconsciously smiled.
Parents are a child’s first love and their pillars, but not every parent loves their child with all their heart. Some wouldn’t care a bit at all.
He was lucky that he got parents who aren’t like ones who are always busy or ones who are bad enough to not care about their kids.
He placed his bag and went to the bathroom to take a bath.
---
A few minutes later, Aaron returned to the dining room, and food was already placed on the table.
"Come, sit, we have made your favourite, Chicken Legs", her mother called him with full affection.
She missed eating alongside her son. The war may be bad, but it brought her son two years before he was supposed to return. She was happy about that fact.
While eating, Thomas spoke, "Oh, we forgot about what happened that made alliance decide to involve every awakener now. We got sidetracked by the teleportation and food".
"Ah, yes", Aaron continued, "You mentioned that they came by Rock City, more than a month ago, and after that, what happened, I have no idea. Only recently, there were rumours of the members dying, almost all of them. I heard that most of the team, not just the ones that left the fort, but all the ones involved were dead or injured critically enough to retire them for good".
Aaron suddenly lowered his voice, "I heard that something huge happened during that mission. I can guarantee that, and what it was, I have no idea, but that changed the alliance rules, making everyone involved in the hunt for cults".
"Also, it was said that the cults have increased their attacks. The zones that didn’t see any conflicts before are now seeing attacks every once in a while. This is most probably a result of whatever happened on that mission"
"Remember, this is not something I should be telling anyone. So, keep it on the low and don’t speak about this anywhere", Aaron warned his parents.
"Yes, we know", the couple nodded.
After that, as they enjoyed the food, they asked about what he had been doing at the academy. Though they already knew most of what he did, they still asked, wanting to hear while they sat together, and Aaron obliged without questioning.
Of course, he avoided telling about his relationships with his parents, only mentioning that he made a few friends and who they were.
When the couple heard their names, they were surprised. They knew that Aaron was shy, especially with girls. They couldn’t understand how he was able to make so many friends and most of them being girls, but they didn’t ask anything.
They were happy that he made friends among girls and were hoping that maybe one of them would become his partner in the future, but they wouldn’t push anything, for now at least.
After filling their bellies to the full, all three retired to their beds. They all have work in the morning.
---
The Rock City was divided into twenty sectors, though they were small. People from one sector reach their neighbor sectors, even the ones beyond that, within minutes, even if they are at the other end of their sector.
Aaron was assigned to the sector where the Goblin Dungeon is present.
The morning after he arrived in the city, he went to the Alliance HQ in the city, which is based out of the mayor’s mansion.
There are a few offices of the alliance, but the space is too small. So temporarily using the mansion as their HQ.
Once he reported there, they assigned him a sector to patrol and also a timetable. In addition to that, he was given a badge, which acts as an identification by other security forces, if a situation arises.
His first patrol started that very morning. So, he left for the patrolling area. His parents would be at the restaurant by now and wouldn’t return till night. So, there was no issue with him starting patrolling from now.
"It has been a long time since I have been here", Aaron muttered to himself as he remembered the time after his awakening.
When he first awakened, he was still weak and ignored by others because of his Class. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
At that time, he had to take insults directed at him directly or indirectly, but now that is not the case anymore.
Though many who have no idea of feats would still look down on him because of his class, his power has earned him enough merits, making some think that he is not weak and may even be powerful enough to match his seniors.
Now, important people or others who had seen his prowess almost a year ago wouldn’t make any comments regarding his "Weak Class", at least not when he is present.
"I was so weak back then, and now, less than two years later, most threats in this world can’t do anything to me. The only reason I remained low-key and showed power when required was because I was afraid that it could affect my loved ones, no, I am sure that it would affect them".
"Now that I am here, if I find any of those bastards, I would make them pay double", he cursed as he remembered the attack on his parents a while back.
If not for the protection that he provided for them, they would have been injured or worse, died, and Aaron didn’t forget about that fact. He killed a few, but was distracted by the ritual, and now he was on the hunt to find as many cult members as possible.
