Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Can I Get Ready to Take His Place?

Isaac Vaughn walked over, standing beside Natalie Kendall, his gaze cold as he stared at Lydia Fletcher: "What gives you the right to lecture her!"

Lydia’s face turned pale and green, not daring to refute Isaac Vaughn.

It seemed she was truly afraid of him.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have obediently played the role of a "good mom" at his word.

Natalie found them ridiculous.

She didn’t even know who she should hate more between the two of them.

She stood up, and Isaac grabbed her arm: "Little Ear."

Natalie glanced at him indifferently, speaking coldly: "Let go."

Isaac didn’t dare to oppose her directly right now.

Even if he was unwilling, he had no choice but to release her.

Natalie walked out without looking back.

Isaac followed at a distance, not too close, not too far.

Natalie’s room was just upstairs, she took the elevator back to her room and collapsed onto the bed. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Not long after.

The sound of the door was heard.

Isaac tiptoed in, just in time to lock eyes with Natalie, who was sitting on the bed.

She looked at the spare room key in his hand, her eyes filled with mockery.

She had no interest in how he got the key, but she couldn’t stay in a hotel like this anymore.

Since she hadn’t brought anything, she got up and prepared to check out and leave.

"Little Ear," Isaac hurriedly held onto her, "Let’s go home. If you don’t want to see me, I won’t appear in front of you."

He said this, actually hoping to provoke her into saying something.

Unfortunately, Natalie said nothing, shook off his hand, and left through the door.

Isaac cursed lowly, kicking the TV cabinet beside him.

Damn it all!

Everything!

——

Isaac said he wouldn’t appear, and indeed, he didn’t show up in front of her again.

But Natalie’s condition wasn’t good.

She either forgot to sign or signed wrongly the documents her assistant handed her for signature.

"Nat, you don’t look well."

After the morning meeting, Julian Beckett found Natalie, asking out of concern, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Natalie said she was fine, pushing open the office door and walking inside.

Julian followed her in.

"The government project documents should be ready in the next couple of days."

Natalie nodded, taking out a bottle of medicine from the drawer.

Seeing her take the medicine, Julian’s gaze darkened, "What are you taking? You said you weren’t feeling unwell?"

"It’s just some insomnia, a headache," Natalie said, "For treating headaches."

She handed the medicine bottle to Julian as she spoke.

Julian took it and saw it was indeed for headaches.

"Is the insomnia and headache severe? You should probably see a doctor. I can go with you now."

"No need, really," Natalie swallowed the pills, returning the bottle to the drawer, "The medicine helps a lot. As for the project..."

"I’ll keep an eye on it. Don’t worry too much," Julian reassured her.

Natalie nodded.

Julian turned to leave, but Natalie thought for a moment and called him back.

"What is it?"

"Brother, what happened between you and Nina Abbott?"

At the mention of "Nina Abbott," Julian’s eyes darkened.

Natalie said, "I’m not trying to pry into your business. It’s just that Nina is my friend, and I don’t want to see her upset."

Julian remained silent for a long time, his voice low, "Understood."

He opened the door and left.

Natalie sighed lightly.

Her own life was a mess.

The phone on her desk rang.

She picked it up and looked.

The caller was unexpected.

After hesitating for a few seconds, she answered: "Hello."

"Sister-in-law, it’s me. Do you have time? Want to grab a drink?"

——

Natalie had heard Tristan Jordan mention an agreement between Grandpa and Isaac Vaughn.

She didn’t expect to see that agreement handed to her by Ethan Vaughn.

Ethan pushed the agreement over, smiling, "I know you wouldn’t want to waste time, and neither do I. So I’ll get straight to the point. Remove Isaac from the Beckett Group."

Natalie’s slender fingers rested on the agreement, not immediately opening it to read.

Ethan smirked, "Aren’t you curious?"

Natalie looked up at him. She was curious.

But she was more curious about something else.

"Where did you get this thing from?"

If her guess was correct, it should have been in the safe in Grandpa’s study at Mount Corvix.

She suddenly remembered that night a long time ago when she ran into Isaac there.

Isaac must have been trying to retrieve this item.

But the item had been switched.

Ethan’s expression was somewhat playful, "Do you really want to know?"

Natalie remained expressionless.

"Your mother."

Hearing Ethan’s words, a subtle crack appeared in Natalie’s mask of indifference.

So it was Cynthia Kendall.

It seemed Cynthia truly despised her.

Afraid of her having any semblance of an easy life.

Natalie clenched the agreement, getting up to leave.

Ethan watched her retreating figure, his smile broadening.

Although Natalie hadn’t explicitly agreed, as long as she had any sense left, she wouldn’t tolerate Isaac staying at Beckett Group, or by her side, any longer.

Without Beckett Group, Isaac was a crippled wolf.

He could be dealt with at any time.

——

At the bar.

Lucas Lowell hooked Mia’s shoulder, rubbing his eyes with his other hand, speaking loudly by her ear: "Wooden girl! I wasn’t wrong, was I? Isn’t that Natalie Kendall?"

Mia’s ears were nearly shouted deaf by her dim boss.

She held back the urge to roll her eyes, considering her paycheck, and looked in the direction Lucas pointed, eyes widening in surprise.

It was indeed Natalie Kendall.

At this moment, a sleazy man was sticking close to Natalie, and it didn’t take much to guess what he wanted.

Lucas cursed lowly: "Damn! Wooden girl! What does Natalie see in men like that? And she doesn’t turn them down!"

Mia almost couldn’t restrain her eyes from rolling all the way up.

She turned her head, speaking by Lucas’s ear: "Mr. Lowell! Is it possible! Miss Kendall is being harassed?"

"Shit!"

Lucas cursed upon hearing this, striding quickly towards Natalie.

Mia followed.

"Miss, why keep people at a distance? Didn’t you come here for fun?" The sleazy man’s words fell as he tried to place his hand on Natalie’s shoulder.

Natalie looked at him coldly, preparing to dodge, when she heard the man cry out in pain, his arm twisted away by someone.

She looked slightly surprised at the newcomer.

Lucas, with a gloomy face, stood in front of Natalie, speaking coldly to the sleazy man: "Get lost!"

The sleazy man, seeing Lucas towering over him with a menacing look, could only grumble quietly as he turned to leave in haste.

"What’s going on? Natalie, did you come alone?" Lucas turned to ask Natalie.

Natalie nodded, greeting Mia who came over.

Lucas said, "Why didn’t you call me? It’s dangerous for a girl like you to be out alone! This place is full of perverts!"

Natalie followed Lucas and Mia to a private room.

With the door closed, the headache-inducing, deafening music and noise were shut outside.

Lucas asked, "Where’s Second Master Vaughn?"

That clingy person wasn’t with her?

Could it be?

Thinking of a possibility, Lucas’s voice couldn’t hide his joy: "Did you two have a fight?"

Natalie poured herself a drink, took a sip, and replied calmly: "No."

But just as Lucas’s expression fell, he heard her say: "We’re getting a divorce."

"Really?" Lucas was overjoyed, suddenly sitting next to Natalie: "So does this mean I can prepare to make my move?"
