Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 133: Something Happened to Your Mother
"Cough, cough!"
Mia coughed loudly to remind her boss.
He’s so dumb she wanted to resign on the spot.
She recited her paycheck in her heart seven times just to suppress the urge to fire her boss.
"What are you doing?" Lucas looked at Mia, poured a glass of water and handed it to her, not forgetting to tease, "If your throat is dry, drink water. Who told you to shout like crazy when watching male dancers outside just now, now your throat is hoarse."
Mia: "..."
Idiot.
She took the water and cursed silently in her mind.
Lucas turned back and continued to stare at Natalie, "Do you want me to introduce a lawyer specialized in divorce to you?"
Natalie politely declined.
Lucas grinned, "You’re welcome, you’re welcome. Just let me take the place when Second Master Vaughn steps down. I’ve been queued up early."
Idiot!
Mia couldn’t stand it anymore, she got up and walked out.
Lucas noticed immediately, frowned and called her, "Wooden man! Where are you going!"
Mia opened the door, and music and heat waves hit her.
"Going to watch the dance."
It’s better than listening to an idiotic boss’s antics here.
Lucas glared, "Watch again! What’s so good about a man flaunting himself! You’re not allowed to go!"
Mia took a deep breath, turned back to look at him, and forced a smile, "Sorry Mr. Lowell, it’s off work now, I’m free."
"I declare you’re working overtime now! Come back and sit!" Lucas didn’t stop there, he stood up, grabbed Mia’s back collar, and forcefully pulled her back to sit beside him.
And warned, "You stay here obediently! Don’t move an inch! Understand!"
Mia dared not speak up.
Her little face was tight.
Lucas chuckled proudly but then met Natalie’s strange look, and was startled.
"What’s the matter?"
Natalie sighed.
Really a fool who doesn’t understand his own true intentions.
Let him suffer.
Played until past eleven, Natalie was tired.
Lucas offered to drive her home.
Coming out of the bar, Mia said goodbye to them, stating her car she ordered would arrive soon.
"What car!" Lucas was displeased, "Don’t I have a car?"
Mia replied, "Ordering a car is convenient, so no trouble for Mr. Lowell. I’ll go first."
After saying this, she turned to leave.
But just a couple of steps, Lucas stopped her.
Lucas directly took her phone, canceled the car order, and forcibly stuffed her into the front passenger seat of his car.
Then he opened the back door, "Natalie, get in."
Natalie bent down to sit inside, exchanged a glance with Mia in the passenger seat.
Lucas quickly got in from the other side.
The three waited in the car for five or six minutes, the chauffeur arrived.
First dropping off Natalie, then Lucas dropped off Mia.
Half an hour later, the car arrived at Natalie’s apartment.
Lucas got out along with her.
"Go back and have a good rest. If you want to go out and play again, you must call me, don’t go alone."
After Lucas finished speaking, he saw Natalie’s gaze wasn’t on him but behind him.
Curiously he turned back, only to see pitch black, nothing there.
Suddenly, his heart felt uneasy.
Feeling a chill, he lightly coughed and called Natalie, "Natalie, what are you looking at?"
Natalie retracted her gaze, speaking calmly, "Nothing."
"Then, anyway, you go back, I’m leaving."
"Okay."
Natalie turned and went into the building.
Just then a night breeze came.
Lucas shivered, scurried back to the car.
Mia asked curiously, "Mr. Lowell, what’s wrong with you?"
Lucas rubbed his arms and asked her to sit at the back.
"Mr. Lowell, I’m fine here, won’t squeeze you at the back."
"Squeeze what squeeze! No squeeze! Quick, come!"
Mia reluctantly moved to the back.
Lucas hastily ordered the chauffeur to drive.
Couldn’t help glancing outside the car again.
Seeing that place Natalie had been staring at, seemed a car was parked there?
——
Once Natalie entered, she knew someone had been in her home.
Besides her, nobody else.
She walked into the dining room, saw four dishes on the table, and soup kept warm in the kitchen.
No touch of emotion.
She only felt annoyed.
Dumped the dishes and soup, she went into the bathroom to shower.
After washing, she walked to the window to look down.
At this height and distance, it was actually hard to see clearly.
Yet she knew a familiar car was there, Isaac was in it.
In fact, these days she knew he always discreetly parked in what he thought was a hidden spot, staying in the car all night.
Claiming he wouldn’t appear before her, using such indirect means.
Natalie returned to bed, snuggled into the quilt.
After an hour of trying, unable to sleep, she had to get up and take a melatonin pill.
Next morning upon stepping out, a bag hung on the door handle, wafting the scent of sandwiches.
Again.
Did he think doing this would change anything?
Natalie carried the bag downstairs.
In the car.
Isaac immediately saw her exit the building, holding the breakfast he bought for her.
Just as his face showed delight, he saw her throw the bag directly into the trash, not looking back as she got in a car and left.
For a long time.
Isaac got out of his car, went upstairs and returned home.
No surprise, he found the dishes he made for her last night in the trash.
A wave of fatigue hit instantly.
He leaned on the table, took a while to recover.
Then his phone rang.
Isaac glanced, it was an unfamiliar number.
He answered, and upon catching the caller’s words, his complexion changed immediately.
——
Beckett Group.
Natalie and Julian chatted about government projects, coming to a pause.
Natalie spoke up herself, "Brother, there’s something I need to tell you."
"I’m planning to divorce Isaac."
Julian was initially stunned, then looked at Natalie, asking, "Why?"
Clearly previously, he persuaded her to separate from Isaac, yet she refused.
Why suddenly change one’s mind?
As Natalie was about to speak, suddenly the office door was pushed open, Isaac striding in urgently.
"Little Ear!"
Julian instinctively shielded in front of Isaac, looking at him sternly.
Isaac frowned at Julian, then looked past him at Natalie.
"Little Ear, you have to come with me now!"
Natalie coldly said, "I won’t go with you. Get out."
"Little Ear!"
"Get out! I command as Beckett Group’s chairman!"
Julian coldly said, "Didn’t you hear? Nat asked you to leave."
Isaac gritted his teeth, pushed aside Julian, took two steps towards Natalie, and firmly grasped her arm.
"Little Ear, you must come with me now. Your mom... she’s in trouble."
