Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 159: Hey, Isaac Vaughn!
Seeing who the caller was, Natalie immediately hung up the call with Lucas and answered the other one.
"Hello, Isaac!"
Without realizing it, her voice came out urgent.
Over there, Isaac’s unhurried, deep male voice came through: "Yes, it’s me."
"You—why didn’t you come to the civil affairs bureau? You said it yourself, see you at the bureau. No sign, plus your phone was off, what does that mean?"
"Phone ran out of battery." Isaac paused for a moment, then explained, "Sorry, I suddenly encountered an urgent matter so..."
Natalie listened, frowned, and interrupted him: "Isaac Vaughn, do you think this is fun?"
"..."
"Is it fun to play me?"
"... No, it’s not. I’m not playing you, really. I truly encountered something urgent."
Suddenly, something happened on Isaac’s side, and it went quiet.
Natalie brought the phone in front of her eyes and looked. The call was still connected, not hung up.
"Speak. Isaac Vaughn, you..."
"I’m here." Isaac’s voice resumed on the other end, "Sorry, give me some time, it will all be resolved soon."
Then, not giving Natalie a chance to speak further, he hung up.
Not explaining anything clearly, nor resolving the issue.
Natalie frowned and called back, but this time it was a cold mechanical voice saying the phone was turned off.
She laughed in anger.
The speed of shutting down was really fast.
Afraid she would get through, huh?
But escaping can’t go on forever.
The issue between her and him will have to be resolved someday.
Natalie called Lucas back and told him there was no need to look for him.
"Huh? Not searching anymore?"
Natalie said calmly, "He just called me."
"Tsk! What’s Second Master Vaughn up to?" Lucas was a bit speechless.
Natalie held the phone and sneered slightly.
Yeah.
She also wanted to know what Isaac Vaughn was up to.
"Alright then, as long as he’s contacted. Now you can have lunch with me, right?" Lucas said opportunistically, with a teasing tone.
Natalie sighed slightly and asked, "What about Assistant Woods?"
"Wooden person? What’s wrong with the wooden person?" Lucas spoke with a confused tone: "She’s eating in the staff cafeteria. She loves eating in the staff cafeteria."
Sometimes, Natalie really wanted to open Lucas’ head to see if it was rusted.
"It’s settled, we’re having lunch together. I’ll pick you up. It’s a date, see you at noon."
Lucas quickly finished speaking and hung up, not giving Natalie a chance to refuse.
——
"Knock knock."
Lucas had just hung up from talking with Natalie, and then there was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
As soon as the words fell, Mia entered the room with documents in her hand.
"Mr. Lowell, this needs your signature."
"Alright, give it here."
Lucas swiftly signed his name and handed the documents to Mia.
Mia was about to leave, but as soon as she turned, he called her back.
"Wait a moment."
"Mr. Lowell, is there anything else you need?"
Lucas couldn’t hide his cheerful smile, "I’ve arranged to have lunch with Natalie, help me order a bouquet—roses!"
Mia adjusted her black-framed glasses and spoke matter-of-factly: "Mr. Lowell, forgive me for being frank. Miss Kendall has not formally divorced Mr. Vaughn yet."
Lucas seemed like he was hit on a sore spot, glaring: "What do you mean!"
Mia spoke directly: "Mr. Lowell, knowingly becoming the other woman is unethical."
She had advised him this more than once.
Lucas laughed angrily, standing up with both hands on the table: "Unethical, ha, unethical. But it’s ethical when you grab someone during sleepwalking to kiss randomly?"
