Chapter 349: Potential Leverage Against The Graysons

Jen followed Justin into a run down hospital at the slum area of the city. She was familiar with the area, her family used to live here before she had them moved out of the city to escape Ethan.

Thinking back on them, her heart ached. She had blocked off all communications with them, just so it could be easier to stay away.

Her family meant everything to her. She wanted to support them and became an intern at Ethan’s company, she would’ve done anything to be with them.

"This place is basically deserted." She pointed out, her eyes pointed at the empty lobby, "What are we doing here?"

Justin hissed at the broken elevator, "We’ll have to take the stairs." He answered, ignoring her.

Jen followed him up the stairs keeping a safe distance from him. She took out her phone and saw a message from Axel, asking where she was.

She sent him her location, and a message saying she was following a potential lead. He reprimanded her for being reckless, and asked what sort of lead she was following. But before she could respond, Justin sliced into her thoughts.

"You better not double cross me." He looked over his shoulder at her, his eyes sharpener into a harsh glare, "You don’t want to find out what’ll happen to you."

Jen discreetly turned her phone off. "This trip better be worth my while. You said you had incriminating evidence against Mr Halton, so what the hell are we doing in this run down building?"

She knew shady things happened at this hospital, which was why it was closed down. There was a whole scandal online and everything, however, she didn’t expect to see anyone still inside.

He grinned, "Don’t fret doll. If we both play our cards right, we’ll make a quick buck off your bastard, Ethan."

She doubted that.

To bring someone like Ethan down, they’d need a great deal of evidence, the type Axel’s captain down at the station couldn’t cover up.

Forcing a smile, she said, "Lead the way."

*********

"Boss, here are the findings from the private investigators we had follow Anna Grayson." His assistant said, passing a brown envelope to him.

Kayden hurriedly picked it up and tore it open, revealing some photos of Anna and a man dressed in black, sporting a face mask that covered half his face.

He picked up the profile report next to the photos.

His assistant lectured, "It’s just as I feared, the money she withdrew from your account, was what she used to patronize her supplier."

He scrunched his nose, "Don’t tell me she’s-"

His assistant nodded, "The man in the picture with her is an exconvict, he was charged with drug possession and trafficking."

Kayden frowned, "But for the amount she’s withdrawing, isn’t it too much for this ounce of drugs?" He squinted at the wrapped package which could sit comfortably on her palm.

"That is the abnormality of the situation, even the most expensive drugs come in larger packs than that for the price she’s paying. It’s probably why she’s withdrawing so much in such a little time." He explained.

He twisted his lips. "Have the drug tested."

His assistant widened his eyes. "Sir?"

Kayden narrowed his eyes at the photo. "Her elder brother, Maverick Grayson is the head of the Grayson’s hospital. I don’t imagine his sister can be a druggie and he isn’t aware of it."

"But sir, this has nothing to do with us. The only link is the card she uses." His assistant tried to reign him back to the cause for concern, the money being siphoned for drugs.

Kayden got up, grabbing his phone and keys. "We could use this as leverage against the Graysons. It isn’t bad to have a strong defense against a family like that." He reasoned.

But his assistant wasn’t foolish. He knew Kayden was getting involved because of Anna Grayson, he fancied her, which was painfully obvious.

"Sir, how do you suppose we acquire this drug? I hope you don’t want to actually purchase some-"

Kayden cut him off, "No." He was firm, giving his assistant some sort of relief.

However, he added swiftly, "I want this dealer delivered to my doorstep the first thing tomorrow morning."

His assistant blinked twice. "Sir! You shouldn’t get involved in this any further." But Kayden stormed out of his office, blatantly ignoring the warning.

His assistant pinched his temples, "He’s just as headstrong as Susan." He huffed, already regretting the decision. Nonetheless, he took out his phone and called for reinforcements.

Meanwhile, outside the office, Kayden slid into his car and drifted away from the company. He synced his phone to his car and called Anna on speedial.

For the first four times, she ignored his calls. It wasn’t until the fifth ring that she answered with a groggy tone.

"What the hell do you want?" She groaned, her voice a grouchy grumble.

"Where are you? I’m coming over." He told her.

She hissed. "Piss off."

"I’m being serious, send me your location, I’ll be there." He told her, navigating through the cars on the highway.

She muttered some profanities under her breath, until she snapped at him, "I thought I blocked you?" She suddenly recalled.

"That’s not important. Send your location-"

"I said piss off! Didn’t you hear me the first time?!" She scolded, her voice gaining momentum.

Calmly, he told her, "Fine. But toss that card away, it’ll become useless the moment I have it terminated."

Her breath hitched. "Y-You can’t be serious." Panic stretched across her tone.

"Your location." He insisted.

A frustrated scream sounded across the car, even on a low volume her screech was disturbingly concerning.

So this was all the drugs?

He was irked at the thought of how messed up she was.

A message popped up on the screen, it was her location, which was apparently a hotel, a three star one that someone like Anna Grayson would be caught dead in.

A fitting place for her to indulge in her guilty pleasure.

"I’ll be there in thirty minutes." He said before she ended the call.
