Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 46: Stage 2 Zombie
Chapter 46: Stage 2 Zombie
Flain had a reason why he didn’t attempt to enslave the Steward. The reason was that he wanted to find someone better. Although the Steward was quite strong, Flain felt he could get someone even stronger—like that Dungeon Boss, whom he considered sufficiently powerful. Flain also didn’t know how difficult it would be to obtain more slots.
A question popped into Flain’s mind. ’Does a talent for gaining power exist?’ freёnovelkiss.com
[Tip: Yes, but I would have to explain the principle of strengthening. Do you want me to explain it?]
Flain nodded.
[Tip: When a being kills another being, the stronger one absorbs mana from the dead one, which strengthens it. There are two types of training: physical and mental. Physical training enhances the body, while mental training increases mana and the ability to learn. This process happens because mana exists everywhere, and by training, you absorb it. The mana you gain is transferred to the stronger aspect of your body—whichever one you have trained more. Every being has a hereditary talent for absorbing and assimilating mana.]
[Tip: However, summoned undead inherit the talent of the necromancer who summoned them, and dungeon monsters have the same talent as the dungeon itself. In your case, it doesn’t matter what talent you have because you will always receive the same amount of EXP, whether you have an F-rank or an S-rank talent. Your soul slaves also inherit your talent. Talent is categorized into six ranks and cannot be increased through normal means: F, E, D, C, B, A, S.]
That was a lot of information for Flain to process—so much that the system had to display it across two system windows. So, he had inherited Itai’s talent. Itai must have a fairly good talent since it is hereditary, and his father was the King of Death.
But in the end, Flain didn’t really care, as the system had mentioned. The only good thing was that his slaves would also inherit the talent. Once Flain had analyzed everything, he had another question.
’If I don’t have full mana and start killing or training, will it replenish my mana faster?’ Flain asked.
[Tip: No. The body of every being can naturally generate mana, but only the type that restores your current mana capacity to full. Absorbing mana—whether through killing or training—increases your mana capacity or improves your body, depending on which aspect you prioritize.]
Flain would have preferred if it worked differently, but there was nothing he could do about it.
’This system answers everything. Maybe we can use it for more complex questions,’ Flain thought.
[Tip: No. The system only provides basic information about the system and this world.]
Meanwhile, the Steward had been resurrected. He slowly rose in the form of a regular zombie but then began transforming into Stage 2.
His entire body grew larger, and his muscles swelled. His height was now 185 cm. A smaller head with black eyes sprouted from his shoulder.
"At your service, my master. Please give me a name," the Steward murmured. His voice was heavy and extremely hoarse, as if he was barely able to speak.
"You can talk?" Itai asked in surprise.
"Yes, but with difficulty," the Steward replied.
"Alright, you will be called Steward." Itai didn’t exactly give him an original name.
The reason why Zehren couldn’t speak while Steward could was that Zehren was a Bone Guardian, and they were generally less intelligent than regular Stage 2 undead. So, every undead at Stage 2 should be able to speak at a similar level as Steward, except for Bone Guardians.
"Do you remember anything from when you were still human?" Flain asked.
"Yes. I was the steward of this village, and you killed me in a duel," Steward said.
"Are you angry at me?" Flain asked.
"No. I have accepted my fate," Steward replied.
"Alright, you will be Vice General," Itai said.
After that, they arrived at the ruined village, and Itai began turning the dead villagers into his undead. Once everything was finished, Itai hid his undead, except for Zehren and Steward, while Flain kept Aran by his side. He also kept the three zombies carrying the sack of goods for sale.
"It’s time to disappear," Flain muttered.
Then Steward, Zehren, and Aran carried the skeletons on their backs, while Flain carried Itai. They ran as fast as possible away from the village in the direction the farmer had mentioned the city was, heading into the forest.
Once they were hidden in the forest, they stopped. Flain had ordered this because the village was ruined and covered in blood, and this news would definitely reach the Light Empire. Flain didn’t want to risk being seen leaving the village normally, as someone might report them, revealing their appearance, and the Light Empire could put a bounty on them. The forest was deciduous.
Once inside, Itai hid Zehren and Steward. Flain took his sword and carved the symbol of the moon onto his armor to completely distinguish himself from a member of the army. He did the same on the armor of the zombies.
But now, his armor was full of holes left behind because he had used Tornado of Spines. Flain didn’t care much about the holes since they didn’t really affect his defense. The only issue was that through these holes, someone could now see his bones and recognize him as undead.
But Flain had already thought of a solution. Back in the village, he had taken a clean shirt and pants from a dead villager. Flain took off his armor, put on the clothes, and then put his armor back on. Problem solved. The pants didn’t fall off because the pelvis of a Bone Hunter was quite large.
The group continued through the dense forest. Flain planned to bypass the city and approach it from the opposite direction to avoid suspicion.
They walked on, and night fell. Itai was exhausted, so the group had to set up camp. Itai ate, drank, and went to sleep in a pile of dry leaves.
Hours passed, and Flain stood watch. No one attacked, and nothing unusual happened. But Flain remained alert. Suddenly, his eyes swirled—he sensed something stronger than himself approaching their camp...
