Chapter 109: Left for Vetheris

"Alaric," Ravenna softly whispered his name after a long moment. "I’m really not going anywhere. Never. And... our baby needs his father."

At the mention of their child, Alaric seemed to have come out of his reverie. His head slowly rose up and his dark, blank eyes met her eyes.

"Our... baby," he whispered back.

Ravenna took his palm and slowly guided it to her belly, letting it rest there. A subtle smile formed on her lips, her gaze never wavering from him.

"Yes."

Alaric shifted and looked at his hand that was placed on her stomach, as he listened to the soft heartbeat of their child. It was calm, and somehow, it brought him peace and his fear seemed to be disappearing.

Watching his expression become softer, Ravenna’s smile grew wider. She placed her hand in top of his, and that made his lips raise up a little. She leaned closer to him and their foreheads were leaning on each other.

Just as the moment was turning peaceful–

"Hey, we are still here." Zeke couldn’t hold it anymore watching those two. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Ravenna was the first to shift her attention to them. It was then she realized she was still sitting on Alaric’s lap and tried to stand up. But the man just wouldn’t let her.

"No one asked you to be here," Alaric voiced out, but not too coldly not too warmly.

Zeke paused in disbelief then scoffed but he didn’t say a word.

Ravenna shook her head before saying to Alaric, "Let’s focus on the task ahead for now Alaric, alright?"

Alaric sighed and nodded, but still did not let her off his lap. "Mm. About what?"

Ravenna almost wanted to smack his head and ask if he had listened to what she had said earlier about the Lycan King. This a serious matter and if it was Alaric from a month ago, he would already be finding ways to get to the old man.

"You know the Lycan King won’t rest u till he gets what he wants," Ravenna said, her tone more than serious.

Alaric did not react and only stared at her. What he was thinking about, Ravenna couldn’t guess at all.

Nyx, who had been silently standing behind them all together with Zander, asked, "Why has the Lycan King silent all this while if he’s still alive? Why didn’t he take Ravenna when she was upon his reach? If Liam could get to her, then it was easy for them to bring her along with them?"

Everyone fell quiet processing what Nyx had just. That was indeed suspicious of the Lycan King.

"Whatever he’s planning, it will not be easy," Zander said calmly.

"What shall we do? Wait?" Finn asked, glancing at Alaric and Ravenna.

"We don’t even know he wants so waiting won’t be the best solution," Ravenna added.

Everyone nodded in agreement except for Alaric, whose expression was turning a bit hard.

"We won’t have to do anything." Alaric finally said a word, but left everyone confused.

"What do you mean?" Ravenna asked the question everyone else wanted to.

"Let’s go back to Vetheris. There, we won’t have to worry about anything." Alaric had no intention of taking any risks now. His words were brief but clear.

"You want us to... hide?" Ravenna asked, unsure of her own words. This was not what she expected. She had thought Alaric would lose it and declare a war but now he wanted to run and hide? Was this even Alaric? But then, his next statement explained everything.

"I won’t risk yours and our child’s safety. Unless we’ve no chance but to fight, no one should do anything."

His words were like cold water poured on everyone especially for the three brothers who had harboured deep hatred for the Lycan King. But they dare not argue. After all. He was right. It wasn’t a good idea to declare a war when their sister was in this condition. Even if she was the most powerful among them, no one, not even her, knew how to control her powers or the extent of it. Either in the present or past, her real strength had never been at its full peak. Thus, she couldn’t protect herself well if a powerful Lycan or hybrid were to attack her.

"Then we should leave right away before the werewolves reach here," Finn added.

"Yes, about the werewolves. I sensed them once I woke up. Why are they still here?" Ravenna looked around at everyone waiting for an answer.

"They want you back," Finn answered since no one else seemed to be willing to do so.

"Want me back? For what? Do they still want to punish me?"

"No, it’s not that. Ever since they found out you’re the Primal Alpha, they’ve been demanding to bring you back to the Silver Pack but Alaric never even gave them a second glance or talked to them. In short, he wouldn’t let that happen, so, they waged a war and we have been fighting for the past one month."

Ravenna clenched her fist as she listened to Finn. If this was a few years back, maybe she would have willingly agreed to go back to the pack. But now, she had found out about the secret of her birth. Even if she still had close relationship with her elder brother and sister, she would rather stay away from there. Fist of all, she was no longer a member of any pack and second, she wouldn’t cause trouble for them. Any person who was close to her would become the target of the Lycan King, and the pack was not strong enough or might not be even willing to offend him. Moreover, she had a new family, or rather had reunited with her long-time family. Her brothers from her previous life, the Nightveil brothers, one of them being her partner, and now a new friend, Nyx. They were enough for her.

"It doesn’t matter what they want. We should leave for Vetheris right away."

With that, the six men and the two ladies hit the door and left the island. The place would be unforgettable. It had brought pain, sorrows, happiness and many secrets were unveiled there. It was life changing and they knew soon, the consequences would befall on them but until then, they would live their lives to the fullest.
