Destroy My Life In You-Chapter 121: Special Child
When disaster strikes, it brings its children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, leaving no stone unturned in making sure it hits where it hurts the most. And now, both Ravenna’s and Alaric’s time had come. They were no exception.
After crossing through the woods on their way back to the house, they stumbled upon the most terrifying scene of their lives.
One: hundreds of shifted and unshifted wolves surrounded the house.
Two: Nyx was kneeling on the ground, held up by her sisters, appearing completely unconscious.
Three—and the most horrifying of all—little Riven was in the hands of Lycan King Darius, who was twirling a dagger over the child’s tiny belly.
Ravenna felt all the strength drain from her body, and she stumbled backward, nearly collapsing if not for Alaric’s swift reflexes as he caught her.
"Long time no see, my dear grandchildren," Lycan King Darius spoke, his gaze shifting from Ravenna to her brothers, who were equally petrified, especially Luke.
Zander and Finn were no different, their eyes glowing red with fury. Only Alaric remained outwardly calm, but only he knew the storm raging inside him.
"Give me my child, please," Ravenna pleaded, her voice trembling and eyes brimming with tears. She even tried to step forward, but Lycan King Darius pressed the dagger closer to little Riven’s belly, slicing through the edge of the child’s tiny sweater.
Ravenna gasped, letting out a small, desperate yelp. "Please... don’t hurt my child. I’ll... do whatever you want. Please..."
Every second that man held her son felt like life itself was being drained out of Ravenna. Guilt, self-blame, and, most of all, immense fear consumed her.
"I’ll come with you if that’s what you want," she added, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lycan King Darius regarded the child, as though weighing Ravenna’s words, then—
"No," he replied coldly. "What good would that do me? You might have been useful to me once, but now..." He smirked, glancing at little Riven before fixing his eyes back on Ravenna. "...this little one will accomplish what you could not. He’ll grow up the way I choose, obey my every command without question or rebellion. After all, he’s far more precious than even a Primal Alpha... or an immortal Vampire King."
Hot tears streamed down Ravenna’s cheeks uncontrollably as she imagined the fate that awaited her son if they failed to rescue him. And what did Darius mean—that Riven was more precious than her or Alaric?
As if reading her thoughts, the Lycan King continued, "Curious, aren’t you? Very well... I’ll be generous and tell you what I discovered. Though the child of a Primal Alpha is born stronger than other lycans or werewolves, he can never surpass the Primal Alpha’s own power. But this little one here... he’s special, thanks to your dear mate..." He looked at Alaric, who remained silent, his gaze unfathomable. "...who cannot die. That makes the boy immortal as well. Only the Vampire King knows how he and the child can be killed unlike you whom I came to know can be killed by your own mate. Surpised, right? This little one will be an immortal hybrid who also possesses a bit power of the Primal Alpha. Special, don’t you think? Hmm... I can’t wait for him to grow up and become my personal shield."
By the time Darius finished speaking, Ravenna had dropped to her knees, utterly shocked. Her hands trembled as each of his words drove into her heart like a blade. She knew Darius wasn’t bluffing. He would absolutely use her child as a shield and more so a weapon.
Even if little Riven couldn’t die—a trait inherited from his father—he could still feel pain. And how much would he suffer if left in the hands of Lycan King Darius? She couldn’t bear to imagine it.
"Alaric..." she whispered, slowly rising from the ground. "Do whatever you must to save our child. I’ll... deal with the Lycans and the werewolves."
Ravenna had resolved to use the powers she’d been training to master, but Alaric seized her hand. When she looked into his eyes, all she saw was emptiness. He said nothing, and Ravenna couldn’t help believing he blamed her for all of this.
Taking little Riven away from their safe haven had been the biggest mistake she’d ever made. Now, it was time to face the consequences. Even if she had to sacrifice her life for their son, she would do it without hesitation. She’d brought this calamity upon them, and she was determined to fix it.
Without another word, Ravenna pulled her hand free and stepped forward.
"I’ll die before I let you have my son!"
Instantly, her eyes flared bright blue, and she began manipulating the wind. Though she knew her power wouldn’t be enough to defeat Darius outright, it would serve as a crucial distraction, buying Alaric precious moments to reach their son.
"Kill them!" the Lycan King roared.
"Ravenna! What are you doing?" Alaric finally shouted, his voice taut with worry. All this time, he’d been waiting for even the smallest distraction to break through Darius’ defenses and reach him in a single leap. He hadn’t anticipated that distraction would be Ravenna herself.
"Get our son!" Ravenna cried, not looking back at him. Slowly, her body began to lift off the ground, a violent wind swirling around her. She thrust the raging currents toward the charging werewolves, knocking most of them backward through the air.
"GO!" she shouted again, still hovering mid-air.
Though torn between protecting his wife and saving his son, Alaric surged forward at supernatural speed, cutting down anyone in his path with ruthless precision. The others didn’t wait for further orders and followed him, unleashing chaos among the ranks of the enemy.
Meanwhile, Ravenna focused all the power she possessed and started penetrating the minds of the shifters. She seized control of as many as she could before her strength began to wane. When she could endure it no longer, she let out a primal roar, and a massive beam of golden light burst from her body.
In less than five seconds, more than half of Darius’ army lay incapacitated on the ground.
"I underestimated you," Darius hissed, glaring at Ravenna. He then shifted his attention to the two witches nearby and commanded, "Make sure no one survives—especially her."
The "her" was Ravenna, as the Lycan King’s monstrous golden eyes made chillingly clear. Without another word, he vanished into the trees, carrying little Riven with him, followed closely by a handful of his strongest Lycans.
Alaric saw this and, with a single powerful leap, shot after them, determined to let no distance come between himself and his son. There was nowhere on earth Darius could hide Riven from him.
He glanced back briefly, reassured to see that Ravenna was holding her ground. She’d grown far stronger than before, and he trusted she could fend for herself—for now. Just a few minutes, he promised himself, and he’d return for her.
And so, the deadly game of pursuit began—the Vampire King chasing the Lycan King through the daylight, with the fate of little Riven hanging in the balance.
