Mykel was starting to feel sick by the amount of life energy that he had devoured. He couldn't stop it even if he wanted to because the energy itself forced its way into his body and he couldn't reject it. It was all Thanks to the cube that weakened him and Amaryllis who blocked his power.

Deep inside him, his body was undergoing billions of big bangs and it started to satiate his hunger. It was sickening rather than satisfying because Elena's energy brought everything that he devoured and created something new and forcefully filled the abyss.

He didn't expect that it would only take a few hours for Elena's life energy to take effect inside his body. Every second that passed, the weaker he became and he didn't know what would happen to himself if he ended up filling the abyss with it.

"I thought you would try to free yourself," The Lord's voice could be heard in front of the cube.

Mykel slowly lifted his head and stared at the light with a sharp gaze. He didn't say anything, but his eyes were fixed on The Lord, it wasn't anger, desperation, or frustration. He stared at The Lord as if he saw a dead man standing in front of him, a single grasp that could kill The Lord.

He thought The Lord came just to have a few words with him until suddenly The Lord entered the cube. Even with his current state, he could kill The Lord and devour him so easily, but he knew something was off. He glanced and saw Elena and the others were watching him from the distance.

"What kind of game are we going to play?" Mykel asked with his eyebrows raised.

"Life and death," The Lord answered without hesitation and with a flat tone.

Mykel couldn't help but laugh even though he was on his knees enduring the pain all over his body. He then stood up as if nothing had happened to him, and that made everyone worried that something bad might happen.

"Don't panic. Even if that entity isn't Mykel, he thinks and speaks like him. He knows that something is fishy, and he should have known by now what we are trying to do," Elena said with a serious expression and kept staring at Mykel. "He's weak, but he hides it really well by his action alone, just like Mykel did," she continued and crossed her arms.

Everyone couldn't help but get nervous and scared after they finally realized that they were fighting against Mykel. Doubts started to fill their heads and wondered if they really defeated him back then or if it was because he wanted them to believe that it was.

"(Was it his plan all along? To be captured? Did we really outsmart him? Or are we dancing in his palm right now?)"

Those thoughts were inside everyone's head, and they were standing on the edge because of it.

"You need to assume that your enemies know what you know," Elena said. "Plans aren't really the main point when fighting enemies. The most important thing is that we know we can defeat them with just strength alone," she continued and tried to comfort the others.

"Are you sure about that? Do you still believe that we are stronger than him?" Nal asked and glanced at Elena.

"No, but I want him to think that we are," Elena answered and didn't even look back at the others. "If we make it too obvious, he will know, if we make it too suspicious, he will know as well. What we can do right now is to make him think that we have planned everything out. We will make him think that he knows what we know that we believe that he doesn't know," she continued.

"Wait... that's too complicated to understand..." Sven said as he looked at Elena.

"Use your brain for once please," Lillith sighed. "It's basically we want Mykel to believe that we are hiding something from him even though he already knows what it is, but we pretend that he doesn't know," she explained.

"Ah!" Sven nodded his head repeatedly. "But what is it that we know?" he asked and looked at Lillith with his eyebrows furrowed.

Lillith couldn't answer that question because she also didn't know what it was. She then looked at Jeanne and the others, but they were all as clueless as she was, even Amaryllis had no idea what it was.

"That's the point," Elena turned around after she let the silence fill the air. "We actually don't know anything and we will let him reveal it himself," she explained.

Nal scoffed and then started chuckling because she found it funny and unexpected.

"So we are just pretending to be smart when we actually have no idea what's going on?" Nal asked as she tried not to laugh, and then she cleared her throat as she calmed herself down. "I have to admit that I didn't expect that at all. This might work," she pointed out and looked at Elena with admiration.

"If we are fighting against the most cunning and smartest being in this whole universe, threading the plan carefully won't work. Acting like a fool in front of him won't work as well, but he wouldn't expect that we are just playing smart and that we are actually just a fool," Elena explained as she looked over her shoulder and stared at Mykel who had been glancing at them more than three times.

Everyone then glanced at Mykel and that was the thing Elena wanted them to do. Mykel noticed those stares and then he focused on The Lord that had been standing in front of him.

"So? You want to gamble?" Mykel asked. "Your acting is so obvious. We both know that I'm weak, but we both know that I can kill you so easily, and yet here you are, presenting yourself. Whatever you're planning, you can't win," he chuckled.

"You have been weakened and you still have that kind of confidence. If that's the case, are you going to play the game or not?" The Lord asked.

"Fine, let's play," Mykel said, but his expression started to show his struggle to handle the life energy inside him. Experience tales at novelbuddy

"Since you have been wanting to kill me. Now I'll offer myself to be devoured by you," The Lord said calmly. "Let's gamble who will live and who will die," he continued.

Mykel squinted his eyes and then glanced at Elena and the others who had been avoiding eye contact with him. He then smirked as he stared into the bright light in front of him.

"You're free to do so," Mykel slowly covered himself with the abyss and slowly wrapped The Lord with it. "This is going to be anti-climactic, but I accept the gift," he said and then devoured The Lord whole.

In almost an instant, Mykel could feel The Lord's power inside him, making him less prone to suffering from Elena's power. But suddenly The Lord's power slowly disappeared until he couldn't feel it at all, but that didn't bother him since all he cared about was The Lord's death.

"Seeing that you still lock me in here, looks like you can't accept the truth," Mykel said as he looked at Elena who came to see him. "I know what you're playing here, Elena. I have to admit you're playing a risky game here, but I wonder what you have under those sleeves, and what are you going to do now," he added as he stood right in front of Elena, only a thing translucent wall that separated them.

"That depends on how much you have prepared for them," Elena said with confidence as she showed off her smirk and sharp gaze.

"Those eyes, they're indeed the prettiest thing," Mykel said as he stared and looked at Elena's bright yellow eyes. "It would be a shame to let those eyes be covered with tears again," he continued and then walked away.

"Would you take me with you if you ended up winning this?" Elena asked. "Wouldn't you be lonely?" she added.

Mykel stopped and slowly turned around to look at Elena.

"This is nothing but a mask. The man you love is gone now," Mykel answered.

"I know. I want you to devour me as well if you win so I can be with him," Elena responded and she was dead serious about it. "You should know that I have no reason to live if he's not here. That's why I want you to devour me," she explained.

Mykel stared into Elena's eyes again, and then he nodded his head in agreement. "If that's what you want, you can have my word. I promise," he said.

"Thank you," Elena smiled pitifully as her eyes started to water.

Mykel couldn't look Elena in the eye anymore and turned around, waiting for him to kill The Lord inside his body.
