Dimensional Streamer: Infinite Views in Another World-Chapter 33: MILF
Hearing Noa’s direct question, the woman blinked. Even her brows twitched visibly, showing her surprise.
Most men would try to stretch a conversation with her. They would flatter or, at least, be intimidated by her strong presence. Noa, however, wasn’t one of them.
He cut to the chase and eyed her sharply.
Clara’s smile deepened. She was already intrigued, but her curiosity grew even deeper.
"Straightforward. I like that," she muttered with a grin. Then, instead of answering Noa’s question right away, she slid into the chair across from him. "I guess I have to return the favor and be direct as well."
Noa nodded slightly, acknowledging her words.
The woman leaned back and crossed her legs with rare elegance. "I liked how you dealt with James. Publicly, at that. Your attitude towards it was quite a sight as well."
"I believe you can be even more direct," Noa said, his face expressionless.
Clara snorted but didn’t react to his words. "I am interested in you," she said with absolute calmness, not showing a single emotion on her pretty face.
This went beyond Noa’s expectations.
That’s why he was caught off guard. "What do you mean?" he questioned, his voice lower than usual.
"I think you are an interesting human being," Clara expanded. "And I would love to get to know you and see where things go. Who knows, we might even end up working together!"
Noa’s eyes narrowed.
He gave her a quick but skeptical look. "That’s still vague. And I don’t like vague."
Clara’s lips curved, revealing a knowing, charming smile. "Then let me put it this way. I find you a man worth getting to know. You strike me as someone who wants more in life. And I like people like that."
The waiter brought her coffee, and she lifted it as if the matter was already settled.
Still, Noa didn’t look convinced. He knew how humans worked. They chased benefits, and their every action aimed to hide something deeper.
Knowing this, he had a hard time believing the woman approached him for a simple reason like that.
But it didn’t escape Clara’s watchful gaze.
So, she suddenly started laughing. It wasn’t just polite laughter that people gave to smooth out the awkwardness, but a genuine one that even drew the attention of people sitting nearby.
When she finished, Clara shook her head and let her eyes linger on Noa.
"You don’t trust people easily, huh?" she said, her expression brightening. "I respect that, but do you know what else it tells me?"
Noa crossed his arms. "That I don’t have friends?" he guessed.
"That you don’t have friends," Clara agreed flatly with the same directness. "But honestly... it’s kind of refreshing."
Unsure if he should take it as a compliment or an insult, Noa remained silent.
Resting her elbow on the table, the woman leaned in. But before she opened her mouth, her eyes softened enough to make her look and sound sincere. "I don’t need anything from you. Not today, not tomorrow. I have my fair share of power and wealth, but a person can never have too many friends."
She was done. Almost. But first, she had to sip the coffee.
"And I think you would make a great friend. I saw how you treat your sister, after all."
For a moment, silence fell between them.
Soft jazz music in the background filled the tiny gap, ensuring that the situation wouldn’t turn awkward.
Tapping his finger on the table, Noa muttered. "Friend, huh?"
Clara caught the existing skepticism in his voice, but there was no hint of dismissiveness. As it seemed, Noa wasn’t against the idea.
"You aren’t scared, are you?" she questioned with a sly grin.
Noa was quick to answer. "No, it’s just..." he paused, trying to find better words. "I have always thought it’d be cool to be friends with MILFs. Looks like my dream is finally becoming a reality."
Now it was Clara’s time to be caught off guard.
Of all the answers she had expected Noa to give, this one was the most unexpected—and the most unhinged.
Then, very slowly, she put her cup down. "...Did you just call me a MILF?"
"So what?" he asked innocently, a playful smug tugging under his lips.
"I am twenty-three," Clara said, staring at him with a piercing gaze. "I am too young to be called that."
Tilting his head sideways, Noa pretended to think about it. "...Three years older than me," he muttered, still grinning. "Yep. That checks out. Definitely MILF territory."
Clara almost spat out the coffee. "You are kidding, right?"
"No," Noa replied. He looked just as serious when they met. "You met my standard criteria. Congratulations!"
Her eyes sank. There was no coffee left in her cup.
And shaking her head, she let out a forced laugh. "You didn’t even like the idea of being my friend. Now you are insulting me?"
"Hey! That’s not an insult. MILF is a title of honor. You should thank me. But I will be the bigger person and thank you first for becoming my friend," Noa said softly, eyes sparkling with mischief.
Clara let out another laugh.
"I can’t believe I thought you were a serious man."
Despite her words, her genuine laughter hadn’t died down.
Noa had noticed her reactions. And that’s why he could speak so openly with her. ’The damn chat is rubbing off on me,’ he realized.
But he enjoyed her company.
Clara’s reactions were entertaining to watch, and she was fun to tease.
For the first time in years, Noa knew how refreshing it was to speak openly with another human being. Chat and Hana didn’t count, of course.
"I am guessing you still haven’t changed your mind," he then asked the woman, waiting for her evaluation.
"The stone-faced man you showed me before wasn’t half-bad," she said, grinning. "But this feels like I am talking to the real you. And you know what, it’s not a bad feeling."
Noa was about to say something when she cut him off.
"How about a meal to celebrate the start of our friendship? It’s my treat. And don’t worry, the ride is on me as well."
