Divine Emperor of Death-Chapter 3545 Kicked Out
"…"
Davis blinked.
He had been confident that he was not going to be kicked out because of a particular reason but now, he was not so sure.
The World Master warned them multiple times.
She was not going to endure another tribulation of their kind here, which would allow people like the Celestial Transcendent to track her, track her universe down.
And it just happened… throwing him into a corner.
If she just happened to turn around and kill him with a single wave of her hand, he really couldn't say anything because he probably deserved it, all because he couldn't contain his love for Myria.
Nonetheless, the World Master went silent after saying it, making them feel like they were standing on a ledge.
Saintess Lunaria stared at the World Master's back.
Even though the World Master appeared to be injured, she shined so bright in her eyes, finally allowing her to realize she was a woman.
It granted her a bit of relief but it wasn't like she was wary of the World Master since something happened that saved her from the Azure Dragon at that time and she imagined that it was none other than the World Master who had saved her, allowing her to have equal leverage and thereby, establish the covenant that brought peace to the Aurora Cloud Gate.
Otherwise, she might've fallen to the Azure Dragon's claws.
Still, she was curious.
She was about to ask who the Celestial Transcendent was but then noticed that Davis and Myria didn't look confused. Instead, even worry seeped out of their eyes.
'They knew… they were in contact with the World Master…'
Saintess Lunaria realized as her eyes went back and forth between them.
It seems that her speculation that Davis had once met the World Master had been correct, and they probably knew even more than she did. She felt out of place, making her lips curl as she felt like this wasn't her era anymore.
Lowering her head, she kept her mouth shut.
"Lunaria…"
However, a melodious voice echoed out calling out her name, causing her to raise her head and look at the World Master who was looking towards her now.
"It's been a long time~"
"Yes, World Master."
Saintess Lunaria felt honored as she answered, feeling like a child in front of this person even though she called everyone else children.
"…"
Davis pursed his lips as he looked at the World Master.
Her face was not visible. Of course, she wore her white veil— unstained by blood as though she never spat blood, but right now, her entire face was blurry, disallowing one to see her true features, allowing him to understand that the World Master didn't want Lunaria realizing that she was related to her.
He guessed the World Master didn't want him telling this to Lunaria as well, not that he intended to say anything after what she did to him.
"You don't need to worry about him, as I will see to it that he is taken care of."
"World Master…" Saintess Lunaria spoke up, "… he is not possessed by that apex treasure…"
"I don't need you vouching for me."
Davis uttered coldly, causing Saintess Lunaria to shake her head, "My findings will at least be of some help to you even if you hate me."
"…"
"Lunaria." The World Master's voice was calm, "I know he isn't possessed. In fact, you don't need to worry as I can take back this treasure away from him anytime."
"I see…" Saintess Lunaria smiled with relief, but her eyes suddenly narrowed, "Take back…?"
She looked confused behind her semi-transparent veil before she looked at the World Master in shock, staring at her.
"Why…? Do you know how many deaths and plagues this has caused…? It would disappear before we could even track it down…"
"…"
The World Master went silent for a moment before she replied, "You will understand… eventually…"
"W-What is that supposed to mean? When this accursed treasure made its way to me, I threw it away. It never appeared again, but now, it's haunting this young man… it's… it's…"
Saintess Lunaria pointed at Davis, but she was suddenly at a loss for words, slowly putting her hand as she looked at the World Master as though having realized something.
"It's you… you were the one who sent this accursed treasure all over the world back then before I was even born… bringing forth numerous disasters that caused billions of deaths from being controlled by evil men and women alike, some inscriptions say that they became evil because of the treasure itself…"
"…"
It was unknown if the World Master was even looking straight at Saintess Lunaria since her features were blurred.
"D-Do you even care about the denizens of this world…?"
Saintess Lunaria shook, feeling a chill spread throughout her body from the spine as she never thought the World Master would be the reason for all of this. She thought the World Master was a benevolent ruler who looked after the world and didn't interfere with how they lived their lives because she cared about individuality and allowed her to ratify the covenant because she cared about the people.
But now… she wasn't so sure.
She wasn't even sure if her decision to spare Davis anymore was right because the World Master might've just let the trillions of lives in the First Haven World die and taken back the apex treasure from his dead body as though nothing had happened and continued the cycle.
She felt like she didn't know this person even the slightest bit anymore.
"If World Master dies, it's all for naught."
Myria shook her head. To hear about billions of deaths pained her heart, but it was nothing compared to the ruin of an entire universe, the end of quadrillions of lives.
If the World Master didn't find a way to make use of the Grimoire of Fate, then the people she hosted in her universe would die along with her. Even if she ejected them out, there wasn't much hope in the vast universe where war and bloodshed was still the norm.
When she stepped into the First Haven World, she rejoiced at seeing how peaceful it was even though battles were rampant.
"Y-You…" Saintess Lunaria didn't know what to say, feeling like she was grasping at straws here before she cast a look on Davis.
"I know I have wronged you, but you're not the kind of person who would let this go. Are you fine with this?"
Davis's lips curled, "I am not a Saint nor someone who wishes for one's death in exchange for millions."
He finally turned to look at Saintess Lunaria, looking at her aggrieved expression, "In fact, I would sacrifice millions if one of us can survive, so I'm much more evil than the World Master when it comes to this matter. You're asking the wrong person."
"…"
Saintess Lunaria pursed her lips, appearing to want to say something, but Davis continued.
"You were right when you feared me, Saintess. However, trying to kill me instead of clearing the misunderstanding was a mistake. It doesn't change the fact that you're a backstabber."
"I…"
"Lunaria, I didn't call you to answer your questions."
The World Master suddenly interrupted, "I'm letting you know that you have nothing to worry about when it comes to the Divine Emperor of Death, so continue to oversee your sect and look after the First Haven World until you leave. That was the words you gave to me and the promise you made to yourself. Now, you can leave."
"Wait-"
Saintess Lunaria had just opened her mouth before she disappeared from this space, leaving behind Davis and Myria with the World Master.
"Foolish girl… she is still kind… not doing things thoroughly…"
"Yeah." Davis agreed in a wry voice, "She didn't target Everlight even though she knew I could revive through her, and Myria could also revive me. I understand she wanted to target the Grimoire of Fate and throw it away again into the void, but does it really matter to me when she tried to kill me without hearing my words…?"
"She did hear your words but your sinister laughter combined with the Celestial Transcendent landing a blow on me, she thought you really were possessed and tried to heal you through killing you. As my offspring who is extremely talented in Life Laws, I would say that she knew what she was doing as there would be no other alternative to save one from an Outlandish Cursed Treasure."
"… Well, I laughed because I was disappointed that our allied relationship could only reach that far."
Davis pursed his lips with derision visible on his face. The timing of his laugh and the cracks appearing in space made for a misunderstanding but still, he was already disappointed when he was imprisoned.
He didn't feel like their allied relationship could improve anymore but he was proved wrong when Saintess Lunaria went for the kill, causing him to be thoroughly disappointed that if she went any further, he might've used her to kill the Guardians, bringing back his old cruel way of getting rid of his opponents through karmic manipulation using Fallen Heaven.
"In fact, looking on the bright side, I feel like I can finally walk free. After all, the debts I owe to the Aurora Cloud Gate were shattered by themselves. It seems like I must thank them…"
Davis chuckled.
The act of saving his family members and keeping them safe just through their renowned reputation was alone enough for him to be buried in a heap of debt, but thankfully, Saintess Lunaria messed up, allowing him to feel much more free.
Meanwhile, the World Master looked at him as though confirming he wouldn't do anything to Saintess Lunaria before she exhaled a sigh.
"Since that matter is out of the way, how do you suppose I should handle you two?"
The World Master narrowed her eyes at Davis and Myria, causing them to turn solemn.
