Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 63: Turmoil at the Hands of the Unknown
Silver’s eyes like her name were silver, although of a strange variety. They were so clear that they were like mirrors, reflecting the entire world around her.
But now, Ark was staring right into golden pupils that were just as clear, with a soft light gleam. Golden tints appeared at the ends of her hair and her entire demeanor had shifted entirely.
Suddenly the air shifted and it was as though a strange energy had descended upon the area, pushing against Ark.
He gritted his teeth, letting out a stifled breath as he felt the first wave of pressure.
Ark tried to fight against it but his knees gave out underneath the overwhelming force and he collapsed to his knees, struggling to keep his head up straight.
He forced himself to look up at the source of the energy, which was the strange presence before him.
There was a strange air of divinity surrounding the woman, her slight gestures were graceful, her gaze sharp and unwavering, and it was as though untold mysteries were hidden beneath her skin.
Even Silver’s skin now glowed softly as though it was unable to contain whatever this being truly was.
Silver, no, whoever this was moved her hands slightly as though testing on a new set of clothes.
She then moved her shoulder in circles and then stretched her hands.
"This body... it’s light."
She then slowly observed the area around them and shook her head slightly.
"This won’t do."
Suddenly an encompassing darkness overtook the entire area, robbing Ark of his vision.
The force was still very much present, pushing against him like two mountains were placed atop his shoulders.
He did not know when it had happened but he was now lying flat on his stomach, blood oozing out of his nose, eyes and ears.
Moments after, he could finally see again but what met his vision was far from the serene atmosphere he had been in a few seconds ago.
The ground felt coarse, like multiple horrid pins pricking his skin, the world was still dark but painted in a reddish glow courtesy of the only light source in the desolate plain—
A fragmented crimson moon in the starless sky above.
It was like the world the apocalypse beast had pulled him into a few weeks prior.
Only far worse...
’What is this place? Where am I?’
"What have you done to her?" He managed to say, just as something emerged from his throat.
Blood spewed out of his mouth, his vision blurry as he stared up at the girl that used to be Silver.
For the first time since her arrival, the woman finally looked down at him, her face twisted in disgust.
His vision grew dark, and then his body compressed, exploding into a bloody mush.
Dong!
The sound of a massive bell filled the area, the sound was disturbing, like a thousand instruments blended into one sonorous sound.
Ark found himself back in that same world, his entire body intact.
He felt his lips where blood had spewed out of and his back that had been brutally crushed. Everything was intact.
The overwhelming pressure had been lifted as well...
He had been resurrected by—
He stumbled backward when he came face to face with the strange woman.
"You have such a pitiful presence."
With a step, she appeared right behind Ark.
"How did you..."
She had been so fast that he didn’t even see her move.
"Disgustingly weak..."
She disappeared once more, this time appearing a few feet from him.
Her gaze hardened as they met him, and her lips parted open.
"Fight me—or die."
"Fight you? Who the hell even are you? What have you done with Silv—"
Whoosh!
"Huh?"
Ark saw himself high up in the air, nearly touching the black skies, his head then descended, picking up speed before shattering into hundreds of pieces.
He was dead.
Dong!
Like a thousand broken instruments that had been mended to get her, the sound of the instrument was incomplete, it was twisted and wrong.
It was broken.
Ark once again found himself standing some distance away from the woman.
His hands slowly went to his neck and then he collapsed to his knees, his stomach retching as he emptied his bowels onto the floor.
The woman said no words, she simply watched.
"Have the limitations of a human vessel tied you down? Or has the foreplay you see all around you destroyed your mind?"
"Do you think you are strong? Average? Weak?"
Her question hung in the air like a miasma, repeating itself countless times until Ark felt like ripping his ears off.
"G-give Silver back."
She cocked her head slightly.
"I know not who you speak of."
Her voice turned cold, loud and oppressive. It was like a mental hex that pushed his body to move against his will:
"Fight me... or die."
Ark took a step forward, still hesitant.
He of all people could tell, there was no beating this woman, all he would do was end up in a futile struggle for life.
He had to run, but there was no escape.
He tried to piece his thoughts together because right now he was panicking, his fingers trembled and cold sweat streamed down his back as he watched her petite figure.
He was a mess.
Those golden eyes were like violent orbs that sought the destruction of whatever they laid eyes on.
Ark hated to admit it, but he was terrified, it was only natural in such overwhelming odds.
’What happened to Silver?’
Ark could tell that she had been possessed but by whom?
Her last words had been ’survive,’ meaning she knew what was coming and tried to warn him about it.
The only problem was that her advice was grossly insufficient.
Ark kept his eyes on the woman, hoping to catch even the slightest moment. Her body flickered for a second.
Boom!
Ark’s let out a stifled scream as his gut exploded backward, everything from his stomach to his intestines, lungs and kidneys were crushed. His spine broke backward and everything spewed out of his back.
Right where his abdomen was meant to be, there was now a massive gaping hole.
The woman squatted next to him, staring right through it.
"How fascinating... your muscle structure, it’s good."
