Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 69: Medieval Armoury
Ark tilted his head to the left and then once again tilted it to the right. He walked forward up till the point where his nose was mere inches from the object in front of him.
"So... what am I looking at?"
Daryl smiled and he walked closer to Ark.
"Come on, give it a sniff, don’t be shy."
Kiera gave no reaction but Emma’s brows rose slightly, probably confused as to what was going on.
"Smell that? That is the scent of bison leather, sourced from an immoral rank beast!"
The man said as he rubbed it affectionately, "This just came in last week. So... what do you think?"
Ark brought his fingers to his chin, observing it intently.
"I don’t know..."
While Kiera turned away from the armour and was looking around the shop instead.
"It’s too weak, I said only Rank 2. Or don’t you have anything worth our time in this shop?"
Ark considered telling her that Thalia said anything in between Rank 1 and Rank 2, but he was sure Kiera knew perfectly well.
The man seemed visibly offended by her words but smiled just before pointing at a large gleaming armour at the side of the room.
"Fire protection, crash protection, feels as light as a feather and can reflect minor physical damage. Profane rank artifact, Hell Bred."
Ark let out a whistle as he stared at the armour. It was made out of a crimson red material that caught the light well, appeared properly polished and had a nice insignia at the right part of its chest plate.
Emma stepped forward and tapped the armour lightly which caused a light metallic ring.
Even Kiera seemed impressed, but—
"I can’t wear that."
The man cocked a brow.
"Why not?"
"I need something with a bit more mobility."
"Hmm, mobility huh..."
Daryl looked deeper into the shop and then directed them to another mannequin.
"This is favoured more by mages and healers, so I doubt a knight like you would like it, but it is the lightest armour we have."
"How do you know I’m a knight?"
"After being a craftsman for as long as I have, you just know. As I was saying... improved spiritual essence regeneration, protection against mind attacks and feather fall which like its name suggests lightens your fall."
The man smiled as he watched the armour, visibly proud about it.
It was made out of a silk like material that indeed looked very light but Ark could not imagine himself fighting in it. Daryl was right, it was something a mage or healer would prefer.
They continued to peruse the shop, searching for armour for Ark but to Daryl’s surprise, Ark seemed satisfied with them, instead, it was the girls that were rejecting each and every one.
Kiera stared at the armour in front of them.
"Too weak."
They moved on to another one and Emma gave it a feel.
"This texture... it’s horrible."
They observed the next armour...
"This is barely Rank 2," Kiera said, not sparing it a glance and so they went to the next one.
"The vibrations coming out of this one are just far too off, it feels weird," Emma said as she stared in the direction of the armour.
’What the hell do you mean by vibrations?!’ Daryl wondered.
And finally, they checked the last one.
Kiera watched it and shook her head slightly.
"I don’t just like it. Is that all you have?"
At this point, Daryl was barely containing his anger, especially since a number of these armour had been crafted by his own hand.
"No." His voice came out strained. "Maybe you have better luck somewhere else, that isn’t here."
He began systematically pushing them out of the store when Emma turned around and pointed at an area at the back of the room.
"What about that one?"
Both Kiera and Ark stared at the direction she was pointing but there was nothing there.
"Emma?" Ark was about to speak when she continued.
"Behind the wall."
The man watched her, frowning slightly.
"That was meant to be a secret."
Emma smiled. "I know. So, are you going to let us see?"
Daryl stared at them for a moment as though wondering if they were worth it before he began walking toward the wall.
Once they got to the wall that seemed otherwise normal Daryl faced them, rotating his fingers around.
"Turn around."
Both Ark and Kiera obliged while Emma continued watching.
Daryl continued staring at her, unwilling to move.
"Come on, I’m blind it’s not like I can see whatever you’re going to do."
Ark heard him sigh, followed by a mechanic beep.
"Alright, you can look."
When they turned, they were greeted by a lovely sight. There was a cutout on the wall with glowing yellow lights, highlighting the beauty that was placed within it.
The armour was charcoal black and made up of a leather like material, it was sleek, daring and lacked any unnecessary adornments save for the golden highlight that could be seen around it.
It was the most beautiful thing he had seen since entering the shop.
"Improved essence regeneration, self healing leather, moderate speed buff and crash protection. This is one of my best pieces, something I usually reserve for my most important clients, but today I’ll make an exception."
The man smiled as he watched the piece, his pride no doubt swelling after noticing the way Ark admired the artifact.
"Crafted by yours truly, this is a profane rank (Rank 2) artifact, Assassin’s pride."
"We’ll take it!" Ark said, his eyes never leaving the piece.
Kiera’s face was as aloof as ever. She walked over to the armour and felt the material with her fingers before nodding approvingly.
"It’s good..."
Emma had no objections either, she was the one who had spotted it after all.
Daryl almost jumped, knowing his frustration had finally come to an end.
"Alright, after payment I’ll simply transfer the artifact to—"
Emma pulled onto Ark’s shirt as she spoke, interrupting Daryl.
"Now that you’re down with yours, it’s time we found mine."
She turned to the man.
"I want something cute but not too cute, maybe a mix of steel and leather but fabric is also fine. It should be mobile but still with good protection. The vibrations should be perfect, oh, and I want a custom embroidery."
Daryl’s smile disappeared.
Thirty rejections later and Emma finally got an armour that caught her fancy. A deep green leather armour with a metallic breastplate and short flared skirt.
Daryl was all too happy to let them go after of course ensuring that they paid in full.
Finally done with their job for the day, the group of three left the shop and began walking towards Kiera’s car when they suddenly froze.
"The hell?"
All three of them could see it, or rather, all curse beares in Lorsine could see the screen they were currently seeing.
