Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 76: Wave Boss!
Ark stared at the colossal beast in front of him through his rifle scope and gulped.
"That is one large elephant..."
"Well this is useless now," He said, as he tossed the rifle to the floor, summoning his axe instead.
Ark turned to Kiera who was now sitting at the very edge of the battlement, her face resting on her palms.
Throughout the fight, she had done little to nothing since Thalia had ordered her to conserve her strength.
"KiKi, what do you think about that beast?"
Kiera almost stumbled down the battlement, her body teetering at the edge just before she held herself in place.
She glared at him from where she sat and slowly rose to her feet, stepping away from the edge.
"Don’t call me that."
Ark laughed lightly.
’Works every time...’
"Sure sure, I promise," he lied as he redirected his attention to the beast.
"So what do you think?"
"We don’t stand a chance. Only Thalia can take it." She then squinted her eyes. "I think."
Them playing anything other than a support role against it would be absurd, they would be crushed within mere moments.
The large beast lifted its trunk high up into the air and unleashed a very loud sound, like an infernal trumpet.
That was when everything changed...
In the presence of the floor boss, the beasts began to move differently, with more blood thirst and far more ambition.
Ark could already see it, soon the frontlines would be overwhelmed.
That was when Thailia finally spoke.
"All of you, with me!"
With one massive leap, Thalia crossed over the frontline soldiers, appearing right in front of the approaching horde.
With a wave of her scythe, the beasts all around her were cut to pieces.
Ark moved as well, along with Kiera and the others, the cool air grazing their skin as they cut through the wind, landing right beside Thalia.
Thalia struck forward, her scythe uprooting multiple heads as she did.
"Spread out and protect the formation."
"The wave boss is mine."
She tore right through the wave of monsters, charging right at the mammoth alone.
Just then, a large skeleton, being a heavy shield barrelled towards Ark, its sword lifted high up in the air.
Whoosh!
With a heavy swing, Ark’s axe cut right through the shield, cleaving the skeleton in two halves.
"I’ll handle this side," Ark said as he pulled out his axe from its body. "You guys take the rest."
They nodded just before they spread out, each one moving to protect a point on the formation.
Currently, the only access the beast had to the soldiers was the six lane expressway so giving themselves an equal amount of distance from each other, the newbies stood their ground, ready to take on the beasts.
Some soldiers were already jogging from behind to join them, no doubt the military curse bearers, judging but the weapons they were wielding.
"Alright,"
Ark’s grip tightened on his axe.
"Let’s do this."
*
Ark dodged to the left just as a sword whistled past him, the bulky body of a skeleton barreling past.
He kicked the skeleton back and lifted his axe to defend himself from another blow.
There was a wave of sparks as both weapons made contact. Ark then twisted his axe, hooked it on the skeleton’s sword and pulled it forward.
As the skeleton tripped, he grabbed onto its bony forearm, and tossed it right at the other beast, causing them to both trip and fall.
His axe came charging right at them, before they could get up, crushing both skeletons in one swift motion.
Over his head bullets flew into the crowd of beasts, tearing into their formation. The soldiers were now limited to sniping but the overhead torrents were still very much active, helping to lessen the burden on the curse bearers.
Ark had no time to rest as he sidestepped a massive swipe, in front of him stood an unnaturally large beast.
Its body was unnecessarily wide and it had long slender limbs with deathly claws at their ends.
He lunged at the beast and the beast slashed forward, its claws coming mere inches away from Ark’s face just before he diverted to the left.
Now racing from the side, Ark locked his eyes on its exposed side and swung his axe with vigour.
But the beast moved backward with unexpected speed and agility, completely dodging Ark’s blow.
It then ran towards him, its movement horrifyingly strange and then it pounced right into the air—Charging down with outstretched claws.
At the same time one of the bat-like creatures, which was about the size of a turkey, came flying towards him as well.
Ark changed his hold on his axe, turning the blade to its blunt part and reared it backward, his eyes locked on the beast.
Boom!
His axe slammed against the body of the bat, sending it spiraling right into the lanky beast’s face like a baseball.
The beast reacted fast, pulling the bat off its face and tearing it into pieces, but just as it looked back at its target, it was met with an axe, soaring right through the air.
The axe sliced right through the beast’s head, its lanky body collapsing lifelessly on the floor.
[You have slain Immoral Silver Claw Masquerade]
Ark had no time to listen to the console and so he blurred its words to the very corners of his mind.
Already a group of five beasts were almost upon him, a small group of skeleton soldiers, their curved blades dancing in the air in an uncoordinated fashion.
Ark did not jump back this time, instead, he pushed forward just as a sword slammed against his leather armour, not managing to cut through.
He grabbed onto the skeleton and yanked its light body to the side, using it as a shield.
Before the skeleton could react a blood red dagger was embedded in his head.
Now free of the weight of his axe, Ark moved like a fiend, his body a blur as he weaved his way through the skeletons, systematically decimating each and every one of them.
’This dagger...’
Ark thought as he plunged it into the last skeleton’s head.
’It feels nice.’
He was used to the obnoxious weight of his axe so now that he held the dagger, his speed was greatly increased.
Ark turned around to face the next wave when something heavy slammed into him, knocking the air out of his lungs and pushing him to the floor.
Just as he landed, a long silver claw was already flying towards his neck, ready to decapitate him with ease.
