Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 80: Urgent Request
Boom!
With a massive stump, a large crack tore through the street and right toward Thalia, causing the earth to quake.
She immediately moved to the side but just as she did, another large chunk of earth slammed into her stomach, causing her to gasp for air.
The mammoth charged right at her, this time faster than ever, but Thalia did not run, instead waited.
Whoosh!
When the beast got close enough, Thalia unleashed a sharp wave of water right into its injured trunk.
The mammoth released an incoherent sound and staggered back in pain, falling back on its hind legs.
Thalia did not slow down, she raised both hands in the air, and a large ball of water began to form above her head.
A little drop of water became a colossal ball that rippled around with wild currents.
Thalia planted her feet down and pushed forward, tossing the ball of water right toward the beast.
A thunderous sound spread through the area on impact, as a massive wave of water poured through the streets, destroying homes as well as other beats that still happened to the alive in the flood.
The mammoth was pushed down to its knees by the force of the water and was now shaking its head, trying to recover from the daze.
Abandoning her thoughts of conserving her essence, Thalia reached down and scooped up some water before she began to rotate her hands at her sides.
Water that had now been stained red by blood began to glow as it curled around her fingers, spinning violently as it got later and larger, up to the point that the circle of water was just as tall as the elephant itself.
There was a sharp sound, similar to a metallic whirl as Thalia took a step forward.
Removing her left hand from the flow, Thalia reared her hand backward, the water following her movement.
Her muscles grew taunt as her tired arms pushed against the weight of the water, and then she sucked in a sharp breath just before launching it right at the beast.
Whoosh!
The ring of water collided against the head of the mammoth, spinning wildly as it dug into its skull spilling blood everywhere.
A loud incoherent cry escaped its lips, the water blade digging deeper and deeper into its head like a circular saw, just before exploding upward.
There was silence.
The colossal beast grew still and its body tilted, collapsing into a building— crashing right through it before finally settling.
Thalia sighed. The first wave was finally over.
***
[Congratulations!]
[First wave complete!]
Ark let out a tired breath as he wiped beads of sweat off his face and dismissed his armour.
Around them, there were countless bodies slowly being gathered up in a pile to be burned.
It was not only beasts that had died, there were considerable losses on their side as well.
Ark stared up at the battlement where he had once stood and frowned, the entire thing was destroyed and all it took was one simple attack to end the lives of hundreds of soldiers.
A strange emotion washed over him, it was like a cold feeling settling at the pit of his heart.
There was no way he could consider this a success, and yet people died in war... that was the way things were.
Kiera walked up to him and flung the blood off her black blade, the blade even looked far more ominous than before, a light red gleam gently pulsed across the blade before vanishing.
The sword dissipated into a wave of purple sparks as she got close to him.
Save for the blood stains that painted her armour, Kiera looked completely spotless, it was as though she had not just fought against hordes of beasts like the rest of them.
When she got closer to him, her eyes roamed around the multiple corpses before finally settling on him.
Her eyebrows knitted slightly.
"Are you alright?"
"Sure, what do you ask?"
Her eyes moved down to his chin and Ark reached for his nose only to see blood.
"Ohh, maybe I should see Vivian."
Kiera nodded and looked to the side. Far in the distance, Elise was waving at them, trying to get their attention.
"It looks like we are being summoned."
They both left the carnage, jogging to catch up to the girl. Elise then led them to the vehicle they had come in, where they met up with the rest of their group.
Luke was standing next to Thalia, staring down at the map she had in front of her.
Emma was lying on one of the chairs, looking completely exhausted, while Vivian was going from person to person to heal their wounds.
Thankfully, everyone was alive albeit with various degrees of injuries. Elise was the only one who was completely unscathed for whatever reason, while Thalia was the most badly injured.
The armour of her left arm had been burnt off and her skin was red and puffy, her burnt arm was wrapped around her stomach tightly, probably due to pain and she had an annoyed frown on her face.
She was staring at the map in front of her with complete focus, her crimson eyes gleaming slightly.
When Ark arrived, she looked up at him and smiled.
"I’m happy to see we all made it," she said before looking back at the map.
"Now that the second wave is gone, we will be moving to the shelters..."
Luke looked slightly confused.
"Isn’t it better for us to defend here with all our strength instead?"
Thalia sighed and pointed to a specific point on the map.
"The portal only spawns in the middle of the city during the first wave, after which it becomes random."
She began circling spots on the map that were most likely the position of the shelters.
"The second wave is not all we have to worry about, after the first wave, other random gates can open anywhere in the city even before the second wave."
She winced when Vivian placed her hands on her abdomen, her red serpentine armour dissipating in a red glow.
She was now back in her sleeveless shirt and military cargo pants.
Vivian lifted her shirt slightly, revealing a large purple bruise.
"You are all going to be split between the four shelters along with a couple of military curse beare— ouch! Be gentle!"
Thalia hissed and pushed her hair backward.
"As I was saying—"
Bzzzzz
The intercom buzzed to life and a panicked voice came through it, the person taking in ragged breaths as they spoke.
"I-is anyone there?!"
The man coughed and there was the sound of something banging against the door.
"We need help, a g-gate, a gate has opened in front of the Silver Pavilion!"
Thalia’s eyebrows knitted together.
She hurriedly got to her feet and walked up to the device.
"Did you say silver pavilion!?"
There was a loud thump, followed by a crash. Multiple inhuman shrieks emerged from the intercom followed by the screams of the man.
The line suddenly went dead, leaving the room completely silent.
Ark rose a brow.
"What is so special about the silver pavilion?"
This time everyone turned their attention to him, staring at him as though he had said the stupidest thing he could have possibly said.
Thalia returned to her seat and cussed.
"The Minister’s house is under attack."
