Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 84: The Third Floor
Faye was huddled underneath her bed, her breathing subdued and her heart racing in her chest as she stared at the door in front of her.
The shooting had settled down a few minutes ago, after which the screams of those indoors could be heard, worsening their state of mind.
Finally, everything had settled, there were no screams, no loud noises and no gunshots. But Faye knew they were far from safe after all, the goblins were in the house.
They waited, prayed and hoped that a savior would somehow appear, and after some time it seemed that their prayers had finally been answered.
Because the door handle twitched slightly.

Ark peeked through the stairs at the third floor and returned looking slightly confused. He took another peek and returned still looking confused.
Kiera’s cocked her head slightly.
"What is the problem?"
Ark stared at her, bringing his hand to his chin as he considered the situation.
"It’s empty."
Kiera took a look to confirm what he had said and returned. "Could it be a trap?"
Ark shook his head slightly.
"It would be far too obvious, maybe something made them leave."
Goblins were not exactly the best guards there were, a simple distraction could be all it took to get them to migrate.
But for a distraction like that to occur then they had to be an instigator, meaning someone else was here.
Both Ark and Kiera left the stairs and began to slowly creep past the hallway, their weapons drawn when they noticed something.
One of the doors in the hallway had a very obvious sign that caught their attention the moment they approached it.
(Girls only)
They had finally found the room of the girl they were searching for. Ark placed his hand on the doorknob and pushed it downwards but to his surprise the room door was unlocked and parted easily.
When he saw the door frame, his eyebrows knitted together. The wood that was to hold the lock had been blasted open, spraying pieces of wood on the floor.
As for the room— there was no one there.
But there had been someone here a few minutes ago, the bedsheets were ruffled and a few pieces of furniture had been tossed around, the clear signs of a struggle.
Thankfully there was no sign of a single drop of blood, meaning the girls had probably just been captured instead of killed.
And yet Ark worried.
Although goblins were known for a lot of negative things, there was one that stood above the rest.
Goblins were serial harassers, and their preferred targets were younger girls.
Suddenly, they began to hear a slight thrum from the room above, it was low at first but was getting louder by the second.
It seemed the goblins were about to start some sort of party.
They left the first floor and crept up the stairs to the fourth and last floor.
Unlike the last floor, the fourth floor was heavily guarded. There were at least ten goblins on this floor, all armed and ready, as well as two larger than normal goblins standing in front of a large double door.
They had piled up a lot of rubbish, gathered around the house around the doors and even had a fire going on in the center of the room.
It was like their own little camp.
Now that they were here the sound became far more audible, like countless feet being stamped against the floor in a melodious pattern. And it was coming from that room.
That was where the horde was, and that was where the girl probably was as well.
Ark turned to face Kiera who was staring at the goblins ahead with a disgusted expression, her icy blue eyes were cold and her eyebrows were knitted together.
He once again pulled out his dagger and watched waiting for the right time to strike, meanwhile, Kiera pointed her palm outwards.
Whoosh!
All the goblins next to the door were suddenly pushed backwards, tumbling to the ground.
Ark shot out of the corner and struck the first goblin in the chest, pulling it by the hand. Another goblin charged at him and swung at his feet, but Ark deflected the dagger and tried to stab it right through the skull, but the goblin was fast.
It jumped backwards swiftly like a rat, before charging once more with its rusted sword.
Ark waited for when the goblin got just close enough and then sent his knee into its gut, the goblin bent down, coughing violently, but not before striking with his sword.
Luckily for Ark, his strike was weak and only managed to leave a scratch on his armour. With one final strike, the goblin collapsed to the floor, its crimson blood staining the expensive flooring.
Boom!
Something rocked hard against Ark’s back, causing him to stumble forward. His back was throbbing from the pain but he still turned around just in time to see a goblin lunge at him with a club.
Ark used the dead body of the goblin he still had in his hands like a weapon, swinging it right at the other goblin.
The goblin crashed into its dead companion and collapsed to the ground, hurrying to get up when the dagger flew out of Ark’s hands and into its belly.
Golden sparks surrounded him as his pole axe came into view, and barreling towards him from the corner of his eye was one of the larger goblins.
Ark waited, pretending he did not see it, but just as it got closer.
Clang!
The goblin lifted its sword in time and managed to block Ark’s blade, but the block was hurried and weak, Ark pulled his blade back and waited.
Watching the goblin with calm composure.
Charging at Ark, this time swifter than before, the goblin lifted its sword high up into the air. It swung wildly, aiming to slice through Ark’s neck, but he swiftly fell to the floor.
And then he swung upwards— his axe splitting the goblin’s head from the chin right through the skull.
The beast’s body fell like a log.
Ark turned, expecting another goblin to lunge at him but the only thing he saw was Kiera uprooting her sword from the belly of another goblin.
He dismissed his axe and pulled out his dagger from one of the corpses.
"I didn’t expect them to be this weak."
Kiera wiped her blade on the rags one of the goblins was wearing.
"Their strength is in their numbers and surprisingly their wits. If we encounter far more, then things might get a little tight."
Ark nodded as she sheathed her sword, once again, he saw that same red gleam flash across the blade but said nothing
They both walked towards the door and bent down, both of them so close that their bodies were touching. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Ark slowly pried the door open and his eyes widened slightly.
"This... this is bad."
