Chapter 83: Silver Pavilion

Ark and Kiera sneaked through the lawn, gingerly stepping over bodies as he made his way to the house.

He tried not to focus on the countless bodies in front of him but it was proving very difficult to do so.

All these people... they had families, people who loved them and were hoping to see them soon, little did they know they were dead and gone.

Killed at the hands of stout disgusting vermin. Ark shook the thoughts out of his mind, he had to focus on the task at hand.

And that was rescuing any remaining survivors, so he continued advancing, careful not to make any noise.

If the goblins truly were inside the building then they would have to be careful to avoid alerting them. Goblins were social creatures with a full chain of command, if one goblin spotted them, then the whole party would know shortly after.

They crept up to the front porch and placed their backs firmly at the sides of the door.

The door was wide open but they did not rush in, instead, they both gave themselves a knowing look and waited.

Tap Tap Tap

Soft sounding footsteps followed by a disgruntled grunt echoed through the hallway, as a creature walked close to the door opening.

Ark heard the goblin stop for a second, for a moment everything was silent, and then...

"Upikata leitaka." The goblin said, most likely to itself before walking away.

Just as they heard its steps recede, they both entered the room, their movement swift but quiet.

The hallway was extravagant and had three exits, one of them led to an elevator, one led to the living room and the last exit led to the stairs. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

The elevator was obviously a no go option and whoever was dumb enough to stay in the living room at this point was probably dead already, so they crept up to the staircase, stopping just at the two sides of the structure.

Kiera quickly stuck her head from the side of the wall to glance at the stairs then swiftly brought it back.

"There’s a goblin up the stairs," she said, her voice lacking any emotion. "We have to kill it without making a sound."

Ark nodded and peeked at the creature as well. They had no idea what route the earlier goblin was and so they had to move quickly to avoid being caught.

He slipped out his dagger from its sheath and held it tightly, Kiera nodded and walked over to the foot of the stairs.

The goblin was currently facing the other side of the stairs a dumb mistake, but not unexpected for a goblin.

Whoosh!

The goblin flew down the stairs, dragged by an invisible force. Ark was in front of Kiera within seconds, the dagger plunging into the goblin’s back and his other hand wrapped around its mouth.

The goblin shook for a second before it finally stopped moving, its tiny body going limp. Everything happened in the space of seconds, a clean practically nosiness death.

’I feel like an assassin...’

He stared down at the lifeless body in front of him and shrugged.

After hiding the body in one of the closets, Ark and Kiera ascended the stairs where they were met with a new, worse dilemma.

There was the pungent smell of blood in the air along with another nasty smell Ark could not place.

When they took a peek at the second floor what they saw made bile rise up to his throat and his skin crawl.

The first floor was littered with bodies, but this time it was not the bodies of the guards, but instead the domestic workers.

Maids were lying on the floor with large gashes across their necks, butlers were missing limbs and even the elderly workers were brutally killed.

Ark looked away, his fingers trembling with rage.

There were five goblins in total guarding this floor, one of them was scratching its butt with the sharp tip of its blade, and the second one was sitting cross legged while playing with a female corpse.

While the other three seemed rather focused on their jobs.

Right now, Ark wanted to kill every single one of them in the most brutal way possible. He turned to Kiera and she nodded, it seemed even she was past her breaking point.

And yet they had to be careful, swift and careful.

A dagger tore through the corner, whistling through the air as it advanced. The goblins saw it but realized what it was far too late, the dagger sliced open the neck of the first goblin, curving in the air and landing in Ark’s hands.

The goblins were about to charge when a heavy force pushed against them, knocking them to the floor.

Ark was already right in front of the second goblin, stabbing his dagger right through its eye.

The goblin let out a muffled scream as Ark pushed his hands to its mouth, his golden eyes gleaming with malice.

[You have Slain an Immoral Goblin]

[You have Slain an Immoral Goblin]

The other three charged at him, finally free of the restraints of the invisible force, but just as they neared him, a figure suddenly appeared right in front of them.

Kiera delivered a vertical slash to the first goblin, splitting its head in two and side stepped the second one, plunging her dark sword deep into its back.

The last goblin froze and turned, trying to run away but the more it ran the closer it got to Kiera.

It turned to face her, its yellow eyes fraught with fear but what it met was Kiera’s dark smirk.

The goblin lost control of its bladder, soiling itself and opened its mouth to scream when—

Whoosh!

Its head was sent flying, its body landing in a bloody mess

Ark stared at the bodies of the beasts as he tucked his dagger back into its sheath.

"Let’s check the rooms."

Kiera nodded and they began their search.

From the information they had gotten, the minister himself was not at home but his daughter was and she was their highest priority.

If they were lucky then she hid in one of these rooms and if they weren’t, then she would be long dead.

They both searched room after room but at the end—

All of them were empty.

It was time to move to the third floor.
