Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 92: Skeleton Ark, Skark?
"Are you Ark?" Kiera asked.
The skeleton nodded.
"What happened to the goblin king?"
The Skeleton stared at her for a short time before shrugging, and then once again, it raised a bony finger.
"What do you want, little guy?" Emma asked and the skeleton rose to its feet, walking towards Thalia’s table.
Faye immediately jumped behind Elise as the Skeleton came close to her, walking past them and finally arriving at the table.
It picked up a pen with its bony finger and struggled for a moment, trying to grasp it properly before it began writing on one of the many plane papers on the desk.
When it was finally done, it raised the paper into the air for them all to read.
Faye tried mouthing the words:
"Keek? KiKi? What does that mean?"
Kiera immediately snatched the paper from its hands and rolled it into a ball.
"It seems he was not lying, that is definitely Ark."
She gave the skeleton a death glare and yet it seemed ecstatic, nodding proudly. It picked up another paper and began to scribble on it once more.
This time they all gathered around, reading the words as he etched them down.
"Who’s the stupid kid with a star on her huge forehead?"
Faye gasped.
"My forehead isn’t that large!"
They all stole glances at her head, before focusing back on the paper.
"She’s one of the girls we saved back at the minister’s house," Kiera said.
The Skeleton paused for a moment before scribbling again.
"Okay..."
There was a ruffle somewhere in the room and everyone turned to see the girl that had fainted rousing awake.
Thalia’s brows knitted together as she turned to them.
"You guys should leave before this one faints again, our medical team is already stressed enough." Thalia went back to her seat and Human Ark scooched over for her to sit.
Thalia smiled.
"You are more of a gentleman than the original Ark."
Skeleton Ark shook his head in disapproval.
Thalia sat down and picked up another file.
"Try to fix him on time Kiera, or at least keep him alive till we find a cure."
Kiera nodded and they both left the vehicle, moving on to the cold abandoned streets of Lorsine.
***
Ark felt weird, he had suddenly woken up in the body of a skeleton the moment he opened his eyes.
At first he didn’t know what was going on, all he knew was that the world seemed different.
Everything was in black and white, it was like the world was placed under some sort of depression filter.
He had been struck by the goblin king’s lightning bolt so he felt it was just the side effects of the blast.
That was until he met Kiera...
At that moment, Ark realized that there was a considerable gap in his memory, after all... how did he get back to camp?
The last thing he remembered was the goblin king’s lightning, after that, his memories became very foggy, it was like a thick cloud was hanging in his mind stopping him from recalling anything that had happened...
Ark’s bony foot clicked against the floor as he walked beside Kiera, he was considerably shorter than her in this form so he had to look up to see her face.
Kiera looked angry...
’Is it because I called her KiKi?’
Ark knew she hated the nickname, and yet it was the best way to prove his identity at the time.
They left the bustle of the camp and military personnel only to arrive at a more reserved part of the street. Kiera moved over to a lonely bench sitting at the side of the street.
The bench was placed underneath a shade by the side of a store, so they had some protection from the rain.
Kiera sat and Ark sat down as well...
There was a period of awkward silence between them and so Ark took the initiative. He placed the paper he had taken from the vehicle with him and placed it on his thigh before he began to scribble.
Kiera pretended to stare ahead, but Ark could see her occasionally glance at the paper.
The words read:
"You’re angry?"
Kiera read the words before saying:
"Why would I be angry?"
Ark scratched his skull before he continued scribbling.
"Because I called you Kiki?"
Kiera ignored him, staring at the empty street instead.
Ark began to scribble once more.
"Because I jumped down to fight the goblin king?"
Kiera sighed.
"Squads are formed on the basis of teamwork, back then you acted on your own without considering how I felt about it. You created your own plan out of the blue."
Ark stared at her expressionlessly, his face was rock solid after all, so he could not show a single facial expression.
"What if something bad happened? What if you died? Do you think I would give you a thumbs up and say you did well?"
Ark considered her words. She was right, he had acted on his own back there, playing the role of a hero, a dangerous thing to do especially when you were a part of a team.
He wanted to explain that he had already thought it through and that was the best option they had but he couldn’t bring himself to write it.
Because he knew that it would not sit well with him if Kiera had done the same, and so he wrote one simple word.
"Sorry..."
Kiera glanced at the paper and Ark turned to stare at her, having to raise up his head to see her face properly.
Kiera stared down at him for a moment, a slight frown on her face before she poured and looked away.
"Apology accepted."
Finally, the tension around them collapsed, but that was until Ark scribbled the next string of words.
"But it turned out well right?"
Kiera’s eyes widened ever so slightly as she pointed an accusing finger at him.
"T-urned out well?! You’re a skeleton!"
’Ahhh, I’ve messed up.’
It took another round of apologies and an exhausted sheet of paper to finally settle Kiera and when their issues were finally settled Ark finally remembered something...
Ark hurriedly picked up the pen and placed another plane paper on his thing.
"My stats, I haven’t checked my stats!"
