Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 94: Splitting Up
Unlike the first wave, the location of the second wave could not be predicted, it could appear at any point at any time and so they had to leave.
Keeping their entire force localised in one position would have been the best thing to do but it wasn’t really an option— random gate spawns had already started appearing all around the city, if the shelters remained unprotected by a curse bearer or two then they would fall.
And if the shelters fell... then they would have failed their principal task.
They were split into four groups to handle each of the four shelters. Due to the shortage of curse bearers, Thalia alone would handle the first shelter all by herself, only Natasha, who was a non-curse bearer would be escorting her.
Kiera was paired up with Elise to man the second Shelter, with Kiera’s telekinetic ability and Elise’s teleportation they were a formidable force.
Luke and Vivian were placed at the third shelter, due to its proximity to the first and second shelter, if anyone desperately needed Vivian, the journey would be reduced.
And lastly, Luck and Emma were both sent to defend the shelter at the farthermost region. The fourth quadrant was teetering at the edge of the city, making it the most isolated quadrant of them all.
Apart from Thalia, all three groups were aided by seven military curse bearers, and they were given temporary roles as Captains, meaning their decisions at the shelter were final, as long as it was accepted by their resident advisors.
With that, the next day the squadron was dispatched to their respective shelters.
Neither Ark nor Emma could drive so they sat at the back of a military suv, while their driver followed the fleet of vehicles ahead of them, heading towards the fourth shelter.
But they were not alone...
The suv was designed in a way that there were two passenger seats side by side, with a small path that led to the back seats.
He and Emma were seated at both of the first two passenger seats, while behind them was—
"No! He actually chose her?!"
Faye’s grip on her tablet tightened, while Olivia tried to dissuade her from ripping the device to pieces.
Stella on the other hand seemed to be restraining her words.
Emma was staring ahead as though unbothered, but Ark could tell that even she had gotten interested in the drama at some point.
He sighed...
’I’m surrounded by girls.’
Just then, Vivian turned to face him, a light frown on her face. She held onto his chair and leaned forward to stare at him.
Her eyes were fierce as she spoke:
"Who would you have picked?"
Ark redirected his gaze to her, his golden eyes reflecting in the dim lighting.
"What are you talking about?"
Faye paused, lost in his golden pupils and for a second she forgot what she was going to say.
"Umm, I..."
That was when Olivia moved forward as well, operating the tablet that was in Faye’s hand.
The screen of the device came to life abe she began operating it like some sort of technician.
Ark had never used a smartphone before and he had not even come close to a tablet so it was strangely fascinating.
Finally, the girl stopped at a certain picture. The picture of a girl with a lithe but shapely build, she had bright blue eyes, dark brown hair and a prideful look.
"Take a good look at this girl, I mean really feast your eyes upon her... um, but not in a perverted way of course."
Ark kept his eyes on the tab. The girl was beautiful but he still didn’t know the reason behind her request.
That was until she moved to the next picture....
The next girl was blonde with dark brown eyes. Unlike the last girl, this one was far more curvy, with a build that any man would die for.
She had a light smile on her face and appeared to be the more reserved type of girl.
Realisation hit Ark like a bus.
He had been confused at first, but now... now he finally knew what question she was going to ask him before the words left her lips.
"Which girl would you pick?" Faye cut in, her eyes fixed on Ark.
’Damn it!’
Ark heard Emma chuckle from where she sat.
There was only one correct answer, Ark was sure about that, but who was the correct choice?
He would be a fool to think they actually wanted to know who he really liked, girls never worked that way.
Ark recalled the picture of the first girl, compared to the second girl she seemed like the appropriate choice, and yet he could not choose her...
’Girls are more interested in personality right?’
The girl looked prideful, the type of pride that came with extensive family wealth.
’No not her then...’
But then the second girl wasn’t any better. Yes, from the way she looked she appeared to have the most pleasant personality and yet—
She was just too hot...
’They will say I picked her because of her body. Is this a trick question?’
Maybe both then?
’No, that won’t work, they’ll say in a perv—"
The girl that had been sitting behind, quiet the whole time suddenly pushed forward and almost screamed:
"Who would you pick?!"
"P-personality!"
Completely shocked into reality, Ark had spoken the first thing that came to his mind.
Just then, a loud howl cut through the air and Ark quickly popped the sunroof open and stuck himself out of it.
He let out a breath as she stared at the street. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Multiple large Wolf-like creatures were barreling forward, their milky white eyes locked on their suv.
They were hairy, far more hairy than normal wolves, and their ears were twisted, lacking any fur.
Frothing saliva dripped down their mouths and their long serpentine tongues were hanging out of their mouths as they barreled forward.
Ark sighed at the sight of them.
Dire wolves
"I swear... handling these guys is far easier than handling those girls."
