Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 95: Grinding Class Points!
The SUV they were in, was placed at the rear of the formation just for this exact reason. Many gates had already spawned around Lorsine turning the streets into a death zone.
They had expected to encounter one or two hordes of beasts, but that was not all...
Ark saw this as an opportunity to gain more class points, that way he would unlock the beastmaster class earlier.
But still...
"These things are disgusting."
Wolves were majestic animals and yet these beasts were appalling to look at.
’Well, they don’t need to be pretty to give points.’
Ark slipped back into the SUV and walked over to his chair.
Emma turned in his direction.
"Wolves?"
"Something like that," Ark said as he reached behind his chair and pulled out his assault rifle.
Strangely, the thing had survived the obliteration of the battlement, managing to come out in one piece.
A small smile appeared on his face, he was meant to be a curse bearer and yet he was still excited by guns.
He shook his head.
Faye frowned slightly while the other girls took scared glances at the beasts from the rear window.
"You’re smiling? Aren’t these wolves getting closer to our car?" Faye asked, she tried to sound stern and yet Ark could hear the slight tremble in her voice.
Ark just shook his head.
"Don’t bother about that."
’I’m going to get so many points today...’
"What do you mea—"
Ark placed his finger on her lips causing her to frown.
"Shhhh, I’ll handle it."
This time it was Emma who frowned and rose to her feet, about to summon her bow when Ark tapped her shoulders gently.
"Rest, rest... these are just a couple of weaklings. I need you well rested in case something bigger comes up."
Emma’s browns knitted together as she considered his words and then she sat down.
"If you say so."
Ark smiled. If Emma were to assist him he would get far less points; that her obnoxiously large bow could probably wipe out more than half of them at once.
He could not allow that to happen.
Once again, Ark peaked his head out of the sunroof, climbing up to the top of the suv, beside the torrent.
The wolves were surprisingly closer than he had expected and so he squeezed the trigger, the smell of gunpowder filling his nostrils as the gun roared, empty shells flying all around him.
Bullets flew forward in a continuous stream, tearing into the flesh of the closest wolf. The dire wolf wimped and careened to the side, moving away from Ark’s range.
But Ark simply followed it, and yet the damn thing didn’t die. The hide of the beast was just too thick, and so although the bullets went through, it was far too shallow to do enough damage.
"Hmmm."
Ark tossed the now empty gun into the vehicle, the gun bouncing against the floor below.
Then he turned to the torrent next to him and grinned. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"If Luke can do it, why wouldn’t I be able to?"
Ark sat in the pilot’s seat and stared at the weapon. It was a very simple arrangement, he knew how to shoot a gun already and had watched the soldiers man the torrents on the battlement not too long ago.
He grabbed onto the handle of the weapon and pointed its scope right at the wave of beasts.
There were about fifty fire wolves in total, Ark was not sure about how the console calculated points but it should at least earn him twenty.
"Alright—"
Bang!
Ark’s hands vibrated forcefully, tremors going through his limbs as the torrent launched bullet after bullet.
The first wolf was completely decimated, turning into a chunk of meat just as the bullets tore into it.
It was not an instant death, Ark still had to keep the bullets on it for a few seconds longer than normal, showing just how thick their skin was.
Still, it was very effective!
"This is amazing! No essence spent whatsoever and yet it’s so darn effective!" He screamed over the deafening sound of the torrent.
Sparks exploded out of the barrel as eight-inch bullets tore through the air, the pilot’s deck was getting hotter by the second but Ark was too focused on the beasts to care.
One of the wolves ran close to the car and pounced, its claws just a few seconds away from tearing into the back of the vehicle.
Ark heard one of the girls scream, meaning they were probably watching the battle from the rear window.
Rotating the torrent to the left and pushing its tip down, Ark unloaded a storm of bullets upon the wolf.
Multiple bullets tore into its skull, knocking it down and spewing its brain on the asphalt.
Everything was going well, the flare of the torrent was reflecting in his eyes and the wind blowing through Ark’s hair mixed with the beautiful sound of the console whispering their deaths in his ears.
That was until the wolf at the very rear howled, its voice tremulous— then everything changed.
The dire wolves began to run differently, instead of running straight at him like they normally did, instead, they began to run in curved patterns.
Torrents were powerful weapons that unleashed bullets at impressive speeds, because of this they were not the most manoeuvrable weapons.
Soon, keeping the wolves at bay became more difficult. And then one of the wolves ran up to the car and embedded its claws in it, its maw opening wide.
"Well damn."
Ark heard a scream from within the suv.
"Mr curse bearer! What are you doing?!"
"Don’t worry, don’t worry, everything is under control."
Boom!
The SUV shook as another wolf slammed its body into the truck causing it to wave on the road.
Emma’s voice came next:
"Ark, do you need help?"
"No no, I’m perfectly—"
Thump!
A particularly ambitious wolf leaped into the air, managing to grab onto the roof of the SUV.
Ark heard a scream and sighed, his dagger appearing in his hand.
He was low on essence, most likely due to the drain he experienced after possessing the skeleton, so he did not want to expend too much of it.
Yet, it didn’t look like he had a choice.
Just as the wolf was about to pull himself up to the roof, Ark appeared right in front of it.
The wolf’s eyes widened as the dagger came flying right at the point in between its eyes.
"Long live the king."
The dagger slid past the head of the beast with ease, the wolf’s claws loosened and it fell right into the horde, which simply trampled over it.
Ark then moved over to the side of the vehicle, where another wolf was running by the side.
A sharp whisper began emanating from his fingers as he swung them, as though trying to slap the wolf.
Invisible distortions in space moved forward and the wolf’s body suddenly compressed, just before its back was ripped to shreds.
Ark then walked over to the edge of the suv and stared down at the remaining beasts.
"This is going to cost me so much essence..."
