Draconic King of Shadows-Chapter 105: The Vengeful Outburst
Damion seemed to grow bigger in the scrawny youth’s eyes. He shivered slightly, his eyes constricting into pinholes as he shrunk back.
Damion waited, expecting the youth to start speaking, but words never came. Instead, the boy seemed to be staring past him at something in the distance.
Damion’s eyes narrowed further, and he was just moments away from taking a drastic decision, resting his hand on the hilt of his sword, when he felt that same demonic energy permeating the air.
He swiftly turned around, staring ahead and spreading his sense through Dragon’s Authority.
There were no movements, at least not any that he noticed yet, but when he looked around, he saw that all the students were looking in the same direction with fear written all over their faces.
’Damion,’ Matilda’s voice resounded in Damion’s head. He shot her a glance, nodding his head at her.
Everyone remained quiet, listening to the distant, inhuman, roars.
Every student froze. They concentrated on the surroundings, taking in every little detail and getting ready for anything.
Melruen, sitting at the back, didn’t budge an inch, only raising his head up and looking ahead just like every other person.
What had changed about him, though, was the look in his eyes. No longer were they vacant. There was now a firm glint in them, belying his earlier gloom.
If one looked closely, they would notice the subtle change in his breathing. It was ragged—as if he had just completed a marathon.
The veins in the visible parts of his body writhed like snakes. They pushed against his skin so hard it seemed as if they were going to rupture soon.
And soon enough... they did.
Damion felt a strong gust of wind hit him, before the sound of an explosion echoed immediately after.
His eyes followed a blur that shot past him, and he caught sight of a familiar brown haired student sprinting ahead.
The ground cracked as Melruen’s feet pounded against it.
Crimson tears streamed down his eyes, thick snot mixed in with blood flowed out of his nose, and his ears kept ringing, both from the explosion his movements caused, and the wound in his bloody ears.
His actions seemed like that of a mad man. He crossed a long distance swiftly, leaving the range of Damion’s Dragon’s Authority in a few more seconds.
Melruen’s actions shocked most of the students there, making them suck in a cold breath. They knew that whatever was coming was dangerous, yet Melruen had charged ahead foolishly, right towards the danger.
His actions went beyond insanity.
He was acting based on his heightened emotions. Perhaps he was doing it for another reason, no one could tell.
Damion hesitated, contemplating his next actions carefully.
Melruen was no doubt a strong student, and if he left them, then their chances of surviving were reduced by a margin.
If they all stayed together and fought anything that came their way, then they might survive until reinforcements came.
They were soldiers, whether they liked it or not. This is what they were trained for, so if they backed out now that they were facing the threats they had been trained to fight against, when would they ever fight?
Damion and Kenzo were strong. They could fight better than anyone else there. But adding the strengths of the other students behind, they were surely a force to be reckoned with.
Damion steeled his resolve.
Melruen had acted on his own without warning, so he should be left alone. If they decided to go after him and help, then they weren’t so sure if they would return to Earth alive.
Damion took a step back and looked at the entrance of the cave.
A memory flashed in his mind and an idea entered his mind.
The idea was immediately shot down though, as it wasn’t possible to accomplish what he was thinking of.
’If only there was a Teleportation Crystal, we would have left this place already,’ Damion thought.
At the same time, as Damion contemplated—thinking of several ways they could escape—a terrifying battle was happening in the jungle behind, far beyond the cave.
---
Melruen streaked through the forest with a mad expression on his face. His thoughts were a mess. But his body, battered and haggard, still radiated undeniable power.
His Ability was pushed to the limits, and his body was breaking down under the strain.
Blood flowed down his body in waves, his bones creaked and groaned under pressure, and his organs were placed on overdrive, crumbling under overload.
A stomp rattled the earth, launching him upward. His hips twisted, his torso torqued, and his legs coiled like a whip.
With a deep roar that shook the jungle, his feet crashed into the chest of an armored being, shattering the cuirass of their armor and causing the broken pieces of metal to shoot out like bullets.
The links of the armor burst in the same instant, causing the rest of the armor pieces to scatter around, falling apart before even reaching two meters. The chest of the being caved in, before imploding into a rain of blood energy.
The jungle shattered in his wake. Trees snapped like twigs and howled as they rocketed backward, shockwaves careering them indiscriminately. They imploded mid-flight, splintering into thousands of pieces.
The ground tore up to a hundred meters, uprooting the stumps of the snapped trees and forming deep gorges.
The air was expelled forcefully, creating a vacuum that was quickly filled back.
Melruen continued on as if he hadn’t just caused havoc. His momentum wasn’t killed in the slightest even as he had obliterated a Demon Knight. Instead, he accelerated, using the anger boiling within him to move faster, breaking the sound barrier as his velocity increased.
He, a powerful member of the Sutoshi Clan, tasked with protecting his wife-to-be, watched her die and rise into a Demon Knight right before his eyes.
How could he not be livid?
These demons had crossed his bottom line, and there was hell to pay... ironically.
