Chapter 41: The Interrogation

The Jaws of Ophidia filtered the smoke in the air, giving Damion the opportunity to breathe in clean air, unlike the unfortunate students scrambling out of their rooms into the open.

The dorm was built with durable materials, and their attacks hadn’t been able to do more than dent and crack the walls and floors, but the explosion had practically done more damage than all of them combined.

Damion got up from the floor and dusted his body, staring around at the destruction from the explosion. The two students had really gone all out and done so much just to get him.

Were they really doing this because of Toby and the students he had beaten a few hours ago?

"Tough," Damion uttered with an eyebrow flash. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

He walked out into the moonlight, dismissing the Jaws of Ophidia and Tang Dao sword.

The moment the students around saw him, they got angry, wanting nothing more than to charge at him and give him a piece of their minds —and fists too.

They had all seen him fighting with the two students, but they weren’t too bothered to care about him. Fights broke out in the dorm occasionally, so they didn’t see this fight as something much different, until the explosion that is.

Though before they could do something they’ll regret, two officers in military uniforms appeared at the scene, and their loud voices boomed, stalling the raging student’s momentum and shutting them up immediately.

"Damion Darkblade. We have received orders to bring you in for questioning!"

Damion stopped in his tracks and quickly reached for his neck. He felt the necklace hanging there, and he sighed in relief.

***

Damion sat in an empty room with white walls, a single table, and another chair directly opposite him.

It looked like there were no doors in the room, and if not that he had been brought in through one, he would have believed so.

Damion had been sitting there for close to four hours already, and no one had come to attend to him or serve him something to eat.

He chuckled to himself and observed the room. He wasn’t so sure, but he thought he was being monitored by a person, or group of people.

The whiteness and silence of the room were supposed to induce agitation and hallucination in an individual, just like every other time, but Damion didn’t seem affected by any of that.

Maybe because he had gained some Exp from his last fight and was close to leveling up, or maybe it was because he had leveled up Dragon’s Reflective Skin during the fight, he couldn’t tell.

Just as Damion read the last description and was about to comment on the new changes, someone appeared on the chair opposite him, and he hurriedly closed the tab, refocusing on the world around.

In that same instant, one more individual appeared behind the man opposite him, and two behind Damion himself, making five people in the room in total.

"Straight to the point," the man suddenly said. "Did you take off your necklace?"

Damion tensed when he heard the question. He had made the necklace stop working for a while after using Dragon’s Authority on it, and then he had tossed it into his storage where it couldn’t be monitored. If his plan had worked, they shouldn’t have any way of knowing whether he had taken it off.

’But the lie detectors,’ Damion thought. ’These people with the Ability to detect if someone is lying would catch me if I did... why didn’t I think of this earlier?’

[Your Authority is being challenged]

[Dragon’s Reflective Skin has been activated]

[All mental attacks have been negated]
