Chapter 48: A Stronger Poison

Damion’s sudden appearance startled Matilda, but the moment she saw who it was, she visibly calmed down and sighed deeply.

Damion stared at the wounds on Matilda’s body, and his anger grew. He dismissed his Tang Dao and knelt by her side, checking her body.

"Will you be okay until the medics arrive?" Damion asked, the black flames in his eyes flickering softly.

Matilda nodded. "Yes."

Damion immediately used Shadow Walk after that and appeared beside Kenzo. He went through his stats and checked his MP, and realizing he was running low on energy, he assessed the situation, hoping to find a way to quickly end the battle and leave. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

"They’re annoyingly weak for second-years," Kenzo spat out, his frown deepening as he raised his Nodachi. "I expected a serious challenge, not this weakass bunch of idiots jumping around like hungry monkeys!"

"Screw this, I’ll use it!" One of the second-years with a blue glow around his fists shouted angrily.

"Don’t Aaron," another student interrupted, throwing Kenzo and Damion a derisive gaze. "We can’t use it, at least not on these weaklings."

"Says the guy who ate two kicks to his guts," Kenzo retorted bluntly.

"If you were to face me one on one, none of you would survive," Kenzo said, further adding salt to their injuries. "Use whatever means you think you have, I’ll still wipe the floor with your asses!"

"That’s enough talking for now," Damion chimed in as he charged ahead, shooting forward at twice his original speed.

’This is a nice new skill,’ Damion thought. ’I can do so much with it.’

Damion’s Tang Dao disappeared, and he balled his fists. ’I wouldn’t want to kill someone now, would I?’

The first second-year student reached Damion, and with the glowing green pair of daggers in his hands, he skillfully slashed at Damion. "You shouldn’t have kept your sword," the second-year student known as Ida said.

Damion pressed his foot against the ground and came to a sharp stop. The dagger whizzed past, but just before it could fully do so, it suddenly elongated, and a scratch was made on his chest.

’Interesting,’ Damion thought. ’I’ll be taking those for myself.’

The second-year smirked, expecting the paralysis effect of the poison laced Dagger to kick in, however...

Damion drove his fists forward, and powered by the black wraps on his fists, plus the effect of his new skill, Damion watched how the second-year practically folded like a paper, before he was blown back by the powerful punch.

A smile tugged at the corners of Damion’s lips, expecting the second-year to be down and out of the fight. Instead, he saw that same second-year charging from the spot he had landed, and attacking again without any scratches.

’How?’ Damion asked as he struggled to keep up with the sudden flurry of attacks.

Although he had been paying attention in the Combat Class lately and being as diligent as possible, he still found it hard to fully counter the martial arts the second-year student used.

His attack pattern was rigid, yet fluid and dangerous. There was a barely noticeable danger in his every strike, and if Damion was someone else, they might have already dropped dead from the amount of paralysis poison that had entered their body.

Damion briefly turned his attention to Kenzo, and he found him in a similar situation, only that he was much calmer and looked to be in control of the situation.

Kenzo’s movements were much smoother and carried a grace Damion lacked, he didn’t use more strength than necessary to dodge, and he didn’t overshoot when his opponents dodged either, almost as if he was a machine.

Damion let out a hot breath. "I’m not him," he muttered.

He dodged another thrust of the Dagger and weaved out of the way of another slash. It turned out to be a feint, but Damion took a step back, out of the way of the real attack.

He sustained another injury, but he was far from being out of the battle.

The second-year noticed this and was confused. His paralysis poison had never failed before, it could even stop his fellow second years from moving if they had taken this amount of it into their body, so why was Damion different?

Damion took his time to analyze the information he had gotten from the recent exchange, while the second-year stared at him, puzzled.

The second-year’s body was stretchy, as if it was made of rubber and not flesh and blood.

’He had not been affected by the punch because his body had easily absorbed and distributed the impact... wonderful.’ Damion praised. ’So the only way to make him lose is to use a cutting attack, just like he hinted earlier.’

Damion dashed ahead and punched out again, and the second-year retaliated by crossing his daggers in the punch’s trajectory.

The Tang Dao appeared at the last moment and passed through the opening of the crossed daggers, before piercing through into Ida’s body.

"Gotcha," the second-year student exclaimed as his body tightened around the sword’s blade and held it down.

He might have been shocked by Damion pulling out his sword from nowhere, but he reacted just in time to stop the sword before it pierced his body too much and caused more damage. But...

"You’re not the only one with a poisoned imbued weapon," Damion voiced out in a chilling tone.

Ida’s smile froze, and his daggers fell to the ground with a clank.

Damion’s sword’s poison was boosted by the Jaws of Ophidia, making it one rank above its original. The poison was then boosted again by the Jaws of Ophidia’s skill, Poison Enhancement, which made for a very deadly effect.

The chest of the second year began to corrode, turning into dust slowly, steadily and painfully, and the fact that he could do nothing to stop it only made him panic, the fear of death creeping into him.

"I hope you get well soon," Damion mocked and turned around, moving on towards Kenzo.

Before he could move forward however, his danger senses warned him, and turned back swiftly.

"You think.. think. This is over?" Ida said, his body beginning to swell as a violent storm of energy spiralled around him. "I. Will. Never. Lose!"

Suddenly his body exploded in size, becoming bigger and denser. His body stretched and contracted continuously, growing bigger at the same time until Damion couldn’t fathom just how hard and strong his body had become.

"F**k!" Damion cursed.

Ida continued to expand until he was four meters tall and bursting with muscles, a white light constantly escaping from his pores. He towered over everyone, staring down at Damion with hatred in his eyes.

"I will smash you into meat paste..."
