Chapter 83: Captain Shodan’s Mystery

[You have tamed a Lesser Demonic Dragon]

The message hung in Damion’s vision as he huffed. He hadn’t fought so hard in his life before; his aim was to subdue and not to kill, which was a pretty tough task considering his opponent’s strength.

Kenzo’s body didn’t revert to his human form after he was knocked out. This didn’t seem out of ordinary probably because anyone would think it’s because he was knocked out. However, now that Damion had tamed him, he could sense the changes in his tamed Draconian, no matter how little.

"His body is still absorbing what it had taken from the Eldritch Dragon," Nyx said, his body shifting back to its spherical shape.

"Hmm." Damion canceled Shadow Possession.

The billowing black fog coming from the tears in his body retreated, before pouring out of his feets and reforming his shadow. There was a flicker of an emotion in Damion’s eyes, before he stopped himself from collapsing.

He barely had any energy left after using it all on his last attack. Though he had recovered a little, it wasn’t enough for him to not get that feeling of having an almost empty storage.

"Let’s rest here for a while," Damion said, his eyes already drooping from fatigue.

"We can’t... you can’t," Nyx said. "You have to wait for his body to fully digest what he took, which wouldn’t take up to two minutes at most, then you can leave."

A sigh escaped Damion’s lips, and he sat down on the ground in a meditative pose. "Then I’ll wait," he uttered.

A minute went by in silence, and Damion couldn’t help but ponder on something which confused him. ’I tamed him, so now what?... Does that mean he’s like a slave now?’

The thought lingered in his mind before he opened his eyes.

Exactly three minutes later, Kenzo’s body stirred and began to transform from its Drake form to its human form.

His long, powerful limbs shrunk back to their original size. His curved, sharp claws shortened, his wild red hair shortened, and his thick tail retreated into his body.

The abyssal black scales that layered over his skin disappeared beneath his flesh. His fangs turned blunt and shrunk, while his face returned to its original shape.

The silver and red glow in his eyes vanished, and he slowly sat up, his legs transforming from digitigrade to plantigrade as he took in the chaotic surroundings.

He didn’t even get the chance to speak before Damion appeared before him, holding a robe in his hand.

"Never thought this would come in handy one day, but have this," Damion said, handing the naked Kenzo’s robe over to him.

Kenzo took his hand away from his forehead and looked up. It seemed like he was having a terrible migraine and couldn’t see properly, though he recognized the voice.

His eyes cleared soon enough, but he was too lazy to ask why Damion had one of his robes. Instead, he just wore it and followed after Damion as he walked through the large clearing back towards the base.

He took in the aftermath of what he knew had happened, and he couldn’t help but wonder how they had survived. Because according to his previous experiences, he was very deadly after he transformed.

"Do you feel any changes to your body?" Damion asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.

Kenzo paused, then groaned and replied. "I feel so weak right now, but there’s this hidden strength in me that I can tap into at any time," he explained. "Regardless, I don’t think I should do that after seeing all... these."

Damion nodded his head. He didn’t press on for more questions and kept moving. Soon enough, they reached the spot where the Wyvern was slain, and with a touch, Damion took its remains into his storage.

Damion noticed that most of its head was missing. Perhaps that’s where what Kenzo needed was located.

Kenzo didn’t see Damion taking the body, but he heard the sound of air suddenly filling up the vacuum, and he looked up, only to find a wide pool of black and red blood on the ground.

He scrunched his nose when the smell hit him, and he placed a hand over his nose.

They hurriedly moved ahead, still filled with caution though. Their journey became smoother after passing the Wyvern’s ’deathbed’, and they reached the base sooner than even they expected.

Matilda and Lyra were nowhere in sight when they entered the base, and when they reached the compound where they expected to see Captain Shodan and maybe report their encounter, they found a group of students they hadn’t seen before.

Captain Shodan wasn’t seen too, but the moment Damion and Kenzo were sighted, the 8 students shot them deep gazes filled with myriad emotions.

Unbothered by their actions, he walked past them and headed towards his room. However, no sooner had he opened the door and walked in when a punch was thrown at him.

Damion’s battle instincts kicked in immediately, and his eyes locked unto the eyes of the of the person whose hand he was holding, and with a twist, he crushed the fist, before kicking out and breaking the knee.

There was no pause from him as he moved again, stomping down so hard the ground beneath dented behind the student’s body.

A scream tore through the air, alerting everyone of trouble instantly. Yet, no one showed up.

Another scream resounded in the vicinity, and a body flew out of Kenzo’s room as he walked in.

"Weak," both of them muttered under their breath.

Damion stepped into his room, and he paused for a second, taking in the new setting and style the student had used.

He remembered Captain Shodan had said something about their rooms before they set out for the second mission, and the moment he saw the student, he knew what it meant.

A wave of anger swept through him, and he wantonly attacked the student, incapacitating him and throwing him out.

If what was on his mind was what was happening, then nothing would be done to him. The strongest had a room for themselves, while the weak were forced to stay outside.

"Seems like they haven’t been playing around," Damion said to himself. "They all have a room to themselves, while those students can do nothing but stand outside."

He looked through the window and right down were the students where.

His gaze narrowed when he saw Captain Shodan standing before them, and his wariness only grew when Captain Shodan looked in his direction, signaling him to come to him.
