Draconic King of Shadows-Chapter 90: Yellow Sun
Damion walked back to the base quickly, raw primal energy pumping through his veins.
Since he had kept his Shadow Puppets in his storage and began retracing his steps, he had been feeling an unknown energy flowing through him.
He didn’t know what was causing it, so he saved the thought for later, instead focusing on the yellow sun in the distance.
According to Nyx, the sun wasn’t the actual Sun, but something else entirely... something belonging to the Extraterrestrials.
Nyx didn’t tell him what, because apparently he didn’t know what it was either, or as he put it:
"It rings a bell in my mind, but I can’t seem to remember seeing this anywhere. All I know is that this is the Extraterrestrials doing."
Damion wasn’t worried about the sun, yet. There was no imminent danger coming from it, but he still couldn’t be as casual as wanted to be. His guard was up, and he was taking everything seriously.
His danger-sense warned him of danger, right before the sound of an explosion reverberated in the surroundings, and a mushroom cloud rose a few hundred meters from him.
Damion pressed a foot against the ground and pushed hard, reaching his top speed in a split second as he tore through the jungle.
The new power coursing through him made him gasp in shock as he almost crashed into a tree.
His Agility stat showed 50, but he wasn’t so sure this was the speed of 50. It felt more like 70, or even more.
Damion didn’t jump into conclusion though, only relating it to the changes in his body.
His feet tapped the ground in a steady rhythm, his toes barely touching some parts of it —almost as if he was gliding.
The mushroom cloud wasn’t too big, but judging by its size, it had to be something worth his time.
He felt a tug on he and Matilda’s connection, and his expression changed, turning more serious.
The aura around him almost solidified, and the 100 meter range of Dragon’s Authority picked up what was going on ahead of him.
Dragon’s Authority showed him a nearly perfect outline of the Wolf and humanoids a few meters from him, and calling upon Nyx and the shadows around, an O-Katana swirling with purple flames, green motes of light and black shadows took shape.
Damion pressed his feet against the soft soil, crouching so low his chest nearly touched the ground, then like a tensed spring, he shot up, making a hole in the canopy of the trees above and traveling forward at a crazy speed.
His momentum was so great he turned into a blur, closing the distance quickly and descending like a meteorite.
He saw his target, but wasn’t so lucky and missed his slash, resulting from the Wolf pulling its head back at the last moment.
The blade went through the ground cleanly, but got stopped after colliding with a thick tree root.
Damion immediately pulled out, steadying himself and looking back for a moment.
Noriko.
The orange haired Fire user was standing behind, drenched in steaming sweat and blood, and covered in claw marks and scratches.
His body was literally on fire, but his clothing wasn’t burned.
’Great Mana control,’ Damion thought. ’Where is his partner though?’
As if Noriko read his thoughts, he glanced at the spot beside him, and Damion nodded.
He could feel the female student, whose body mimicked the environment’s color, in Dragon’s Authority, and it reminded him of the color changing clothing he had lost a few minutes ago.
Damion sighed, raising his gaze to the Wolf before him, and then he frowned again.
The pressure of Dragon’s Authority practically spilled out in waves, rolling out like a tsunami and bearing down in everything around Damion.
Noriko and the female student weren’t an exception. They fell to their knees, Noriko’s flames quenching like cold water had been doused on him, and the female student’s camouflage fading to reveal her naked form.
Damion didn’t pay heed to the duo behind him. He stood shirtless before the Wolf, his piercing purple eyes glowing like two orbs.
The debuff hit the Wolf like a sledgehammer, causing its escape attempt to be thwarted in an almost disrespectful manner.
Its feets buckled, and it panicked.
But then a beam of the Yellow Sun’s light passed through a gap in the canopy above, hitting it right on the back.
[Dragon’s Authority’s effects have been negated]
Damion stumbled back, shock written all over his face.
Never in a long while had he seen that message, and with the evolution he had gotten —and the rise in Dragon’s Authority too— he never expected it to be seen in a very long time.
However, betraying his emotions, the cold look in his eyes spilled over, and his killing intent, together with a renewed Dragon’s Authority, poured out of them, a bloodlust like no other seizing the Wolf in place.
One step forward sounded like the stump of a giant, and everyone almost vomited blood.
Another step, and the Wolf peed, its legs giving up on it.
Another step, and Damion was standing before it, his weapon raised.
There was no dramatic line to be said, or a flashy move to be used. Damion only swung his blade down, and a head flew.
The Wolf’s body, seemingly unwilling to believe that it was dead, didn’t react for a few seconds, before blood suddenly erupted from the severed neck, raining down and soaking the ground.
The bloodlust receded, Damion’s eyes regaining a bit of warmth to them.
Noriko finally breathed after seconds of unknowingly holding his breath, gasping for air and grabbing his throat in an attempt to stop choking.
The female student was in a worse situation than Noriko... she had passed out.
She didn’t even bother to fight the bloodlust that had filled the air and willingly succumbed. She was stark naked, but Damion wasn’t interested in her nakedness, instead he had a disturbing question lingering in his mind.
"Why do they fight naked?" He voiced out with a wrinkled nose. "First Aspasia, now this one..."
Noriko raised his head from shock. Was that really the first thing on his mind after casually defeating a Lesser Alpha Cosmic Wolf?
Damion’s attention shifted, and his brows furrowed.
Matilda.
