Dragon Game: All My Dragons Are Ranked 'SSS'-Chapter 51: Die with a Smile
The path ahead was wide and eerily quiet.
It was expected though, as this was what Drahon dreaded to do, and even Ayvira felt the same, only she had some brave flair so she wouldn’t look like a weakling.
Drahon slowed his pace as he walked beside Ayvira, the silence pressing down on them like a weight. There was surprisingly less wind, just silence, and that alone was off.
They continued walking until they reached the clearing which they passed, not stopping as they stared at the large expanse of land facing them.
It looked like a field, lined with stone fragments and burnt grass. At first glance, it looked like nothing more than a scorched large expanse of land with random caves all over it.
Until Drahon saw bodies.
Lots of them. All over the ground.
His eyes widened. Ayvira stopped beside him, her eyes narrowing.
"That’s a surprise..." she muttered.
The corpses were everywhere. But they weren’t just lying there. They were torn apart, shredded and split open like paper, burnt black and twisted in angles that made no sense. Wings were bent backwards, limbs crushed in, heads ripped clean off and tossed to random sides of the field. Some of the bodies didn’t even have shapes anymore, just pools of black blood and piles of meat.
They walked into the field, the large expanse of land.
Drahon crouched beside one of the remains, poking what looked like a twisted jawbone.
"Dragon monsters," he said, furrowing his brows. "At least... they were."
Ayvira stood still, scanning the field with a hard expression. "I can’t even tell what rank these were. Whatever did this didn’t just kill them, it wanted them unrecognizable, if that’s possible. Are monsters smart to have that thought?"
Drahon rose to his feet. "This might sound stupid but think another player did this?"
She shook her head slowly. "Maybe. But this level of destruction? Not unless someone’s walking around with a Tier A dragon at their side."
Drahon glanced over the rest of the field. There had to be at least twenty bodies. Maybe more. It was impossible to count, everything was so mangled it was hard to tell where one monster ended and another began.
"I don’t like this," he muttered. (A silly thing to say at that point.)
Ayvira nodded, immediately summoning her sword. "Neither do I."
And then... the ground vibrated.
A low rumble, distant at first, then it grew louder. It was steady.
A bit heavy.
And surprisingly rhythmic.
Drahon turned to the east side of the field.
From behind a cave, there was movement. Then, dozens of glowing red eyes.
He stepped back, alerted.
The first of them emerged. A hulking, scaled form. Then another. And another. Their wings flared, snarls low and guttural.
And then, they poured in like a wave.
Demon dragon monsters!
They were just like the ones they fought back in the forest, only more of them. Way more. And these were larger and more menacing.
Ayvira clicked her tongue, trying to crack a joke in a time as deadly as this. "Guess we’re about to find out what did this."
Drahon tightened his grip on his sword. "They clearly did it. There’s nothing to find out..."
The monsters didn’t wait. They came charging with brutal ruthlessness.
Drahon was ready for them, but then he noticed he had not summoned any weapon or activated any skill. It felt like he was too slow, he too felt the same until...
Boom!
A clenched fist the size of Hulk’s drove into his belly.
Blood spewed from his mouth as the impact of that hand sent him backwards and he rolled and tumbled repeatedly until he finally halted himself by trying to hold onto the ground...
BAM! BAM! BAM!
BAAMM!
He gave a loud groan as he landed for the last time.
[HP -55]
He was in really bad shape at that point.
If it was back in the forest this happened, the impact wouldn’t have been so severe on him as it was at the moment.
Drahon was feeling pain so severe he was sure if any of the monsters came up to him again, he would be dying.
He had always wondered what happened when people died in the game.
But then, this wasn’t the simulation realm, this was the real world realm!
His face was covered in dust and his teeth were almost out, they were bleeding. Also, he had hit his stomach and back so bad it hurts!
He was feeling a lot of pain, intense and really hurtful.
Ayvira looked at him from afar off and was... concerned.
But she had to face these monsters before anything.
She held her sword and immediately summoned her axe, going after them.
But just as she took a step, the monsters became wrestling tag teams, two roaring fiercely at her as she was plunged backwards, and before she knew it, one had grabbed her by the hair, slamming her hand against the ground.
Bam!
One...
Bam...
Two...
Bam...
Three..!
She was tossed roughly to the other side.
Drahon looked at the scene in complete,
What was all this.
He never knew his final day would be the one he became a weakling. The one he was defeated so easily.
To die with your swords up high is more worthy than you dying with them down.
And Ayvira, he thought she was powerful, what was going on. But then, he thought. Perhaps there was some suppression field here that limited the use of their powers and how they reacted.
Perhaps it was from the monsters.
He and Ayvira had forgotten to scan them.
The demon dragon monsters were about eighteen in number, and now they were sauntering over to the dying and bleeding players.
They divided into two groups, one walking towards where Drahon lay bleeding and half-dead already, and the others towards where Ayvira lay, her nose bleeding but trying to stand up.
Drahon watched them come, hopeless. He tried to summon his sword, but even his mind was too weak.
’This the end.’
’You might as well die with a smile.’
