Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 153: Let’s Get Married
"Look, Julian..." Celine began but perhaps he knew what she was going to say so he cut her off.
"Please don’t say anything, at least not yet. I might say I want to make you my wife but it’s just my own desire, I’m never going to force my wish on you, nor am I going to rush things. I don’t care if it happens in the next ten years as long as you grow to trust me and know that I’ll never hurt you, and I will wait until you’re ready."
He fell silent for a second before he continued, "I’ve said this to my mother but I want to tell it to you as well, I don’t mind that you have children, since they’re yours I’m willing to love and take care of them as a father if you’ll let me. I’m not going to force you to accept my feelings, nor am I going to expect you to feel the same way immediately, I just want you to know that I’m willing to be the one to love you even if you won’t love me back right away."
His words shocked her, she didn’t know what to say to him.
"You were probably hurt by someone, I can see it in your eyes." He said. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
This time, she only lowered her eyes, even if she tried to distract herself all day, her mind kept going back to the fact that Tristan might be married by now. And the thought of it made her feel like...like her heart was being wrenched out forcefully.
Julian showed a bitter smile, it seemed he was right, the sharp look of pain in her eyes right now couldn’t be disguised. "I don’t care who I have to compete with for your heart, because I know I’m capable of making you happy for the rest of your life. Please think about it, I’m willing to wait no matter how long, as long as you’ll eventually say yes, as long as you’ll accept me."
He waited for a few moments, noticing that perhaps she had no words to give him a reply right now.
"Come, I’ll take you back home." After saying that, he turned to walk back to the car.
Celine’s mind was still contemplating everything. It was ironic that deep inside she was feeling hurt and broken about someone else and here there was another who truly wanted her.
She knew her heart wished those words of confession came from Tristan instead, but he was a cold, detached person who had someone else he was willing to spend the rest of his life with, she needed to move on and forget about whatever feelings she had for him.
Maybe she could still be happy, her feelings were still fresh and they could wither away with time, there was a possibility that she could fall in love with someone else later.
She could feel the sincerity in Julian’s words, she knew him a very long time ago and he was the only thing close to her mother’s memories left in this world for her. If she were to move on and start anew, then he would be the only person she could trust.
"Julian." She called out, her voice sounding slightly hoarse from the lump of pain she had swallowed down her throat at the thought of Tristan.
Julian immediately stopped walking, he turned around, gazing at her in askance.
"Do you really want to marry me?"
This question stunned him for a moment. He knew she needed time to process everything he said, time to think about giving him a chance to date her properly, win her heart, but he never expected this to be the first question she would ask him. Regardless, he wasn’t the type of man to keep his own feelings and intentions bottled in to himself which had been why he’d opened up to her about it all, without hesitation, he nodded.
"Yes, it’s what I want more than anything." It was his greatest wish.
She nodded in understanding. "There are some things you don’t know about me yet. It’s been a few years, so much has happened to me. I have a grudge against my own father and I wish to slowly destroy him, I’m not that kind and innocent girl you used to know even if I still look like it. Do you still want to marry me?"
"It doesn’t matter to me who you’ve become, and whatever goals you might have I’m willing to stand by your side to fulfill them. I still do want to marry you."
"Alright, let’s get married."
Julian was stunned by those words, his face slowly breaking into a wide grin, his happiness and disbelief evident in his eyes, he quickly strode back to her.
"Really...? I mean, are you sure? You don’t have to marry me right away, you can take your time to think about it, I don’t want you to regret..."
"I won’t regret." She quickly cut him off, "I’ve spent too long giving myself excuses, I want my children to have a normal life, a mother and a father. I’ve already made my decision. I’m willing to marry you."
Julian immediately pulled her into a hug in excitement. It felt like a dream, and he still couldn’t believe it. "Thank you for giving me this chance, I promise I won’t let you down."
The tears she was holding back slowly slid down her face. She didn’t know why a rush of pain flooded her chest in this moment, but she knew this was her one step into moving on, but...it felt different, a few times she had been in Tristan’s arms, but now in the arms of another it felt different...her heart was still and silent in her chest, unlike how fast it raced every time she was around Tristan.
At this moment she knew, he had ruined her heart into only being aware of him and no one else. But promising herself to someone else was the best way she could make her own heart to stop loving him.
She knew this journey of forgetting him would be hard, but once her goals were finally fully fulfilled, she would start her life all over again, but from now on, she had to wipe off the name Tristan Grayson from her heart, and this...was the first step.
