Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 304: Insecure of the sickly beauty

Cardan nodded, ’’By killing a witch, one can take her life essence and take every year of age she had sucked from other people. There are rules and spells involved to prevent that but Leo was unaware of them. That is why Leo turned into his younger self. Back then, my brother was helpless but now he has inherited the heavenly powers so he has his own ways. The effect of his powers could last for a few days at most,’’ he explained, ’’There is no harm in Leo staying as his younger self except that he cannot use his powers to the full extent. But it gives him a longer life.’’

Luciana understood when she heard his words.

She glanced at Leo only to notice that the beast had long walked past her.

Leo stepped towards the seashore and approached the guard who was holding Rowan’s body.

’Roar’

His roar was not as powerful as before.

Luciana sighed softly, ’’Put him down."

The guard stepped out of the sea and placed Rowan’s body on the sand.

Leo circled him before he sat near the man’s head. His tail moved in the air and on Rowan’s face.

Rowan’s body remained lifeless.

Leo leaned closer and licked Rowan’s face.

Luciana closed her eyes.

Cardan pulled her into his arms.

Leo’s roar grew weaker and weaker, his golden eyes sparkled with unshed tears.

Cardan stroked Luciana’s hair before approaching Leo.

He squatted near the beast and raised his hand to stroke the beast’s head.

Leo’s head snapped at Cardan as he bared his teeth at him, his eyes fierce and hostile.

Cardan knew that the beast was not that fond of him. Yet, he did not stop stroking his head, ’’Be a good boy,’’ he patted his head, ’’I will take you to heaven to meet his soul before he reincarnates.’’

Leo’s eyes softened when he heard his words. The ruthless glint in them was long gone.

He leaned closer to Cardan.

Cardan smiled and stroked his head.

Luciana felt warm as she watched their interaction, ’’You are not giving him false hopes, are you?"

Cardan’s lips twitched, ’’My father might break my bones but I have been breaking the rules of the Dark Castle since I was young,’’ he shrugged, ’’I can sneak my way through it,’’ he turned to look at Leo, and patted his head.

Luciana could not take her eyes off Cardan. She wanted to gaze at him a little longer. A little deeper.

Was he still the man she had once called the devil? Cruel and scheming, a man who terrified everyone?

She was in a daze as she glanced at him, her heart skipping a few beats when he turned and met her gaze.

He arched a brow questioningly.

Luciana cleared her throat, ’’How do we go there before the rituals start? Even with Leo, I am not certain if we can reach there before tomorrow...’’

’Roar’

Leo glanced at Luciana disdainfully. This woman had the nerve to step on his tail all the time.

Luciana was speechless. This beast never liked her and Cardan before. He was always wary of them but now that he seemed to have bonded with Cardan, she was still despised by him.

As Cardan watched Luciana pouting, he laughed.

She glared at him.

He made his way towards her and pinched her cheeks, ’’See there...’’ he pointed his hand towards Leo.

Luciana tilted her head to the side casually. But the moment her gaze landed on Leo, her jaws dropped. She staggered a few steps, almost falling down until Cardan wrapped an arm around her to stabilize her.

She watched in awe as small feathers sprouted from Leo’s back until they molded into two huge wings which were nearly as large as his enormous body. They arched off his back like concave reflections. Each long, tense feather shook in dominance as his wings slammed upward. As they came back down, a tinge of golden sparkled at the tip of his wings, resembling the color of his eyes.

The smaller feathers melded intricately into the larger ones as those spectacular wings thrashed, imposing reverence.

The only thing that comforted Luciana was the fact that she was not the only person who gasped with every movement made by Leo. Aleister’s and Cardan’s guards were equally dumbfounded as her.

Only Cardan remained unfazed.

Leo settled beside Rowan covering the man with one enormous wing.

"What is he doing?" Bewildered, Luciana questioned.

’’He is blessing him...’’ Cardan’s words made her turn to look at him, ’’Leo is the heir of the Beast Goddess.’’

A small red-shaped flame imprint appeared on Leo’s forehead.

Cardan was startled briefly, "The restriction on Leo has been lifted and he has awakened his immortal bloodline.’’

Leo had temporarily regained his previous form and powers but he did not expect the restriction on his powers to be lifted at this time.

Luciana was stunned but she remembered that back then when Esme and she visited Dark Castle, they were surrounded by the heavenly guards. But those guards had lost their composure when they saw Leo.

She sighed softly. She had her doubts and later she noticed how well Leo was treated by King Rezeph but then, many things happened after that. She never got the chance to dwell on Leo’s matters.

When Leo approached them, Cardan asked the guards to carefully escort Rowan back to Defire.

Two heavenly guards helped the unconscious Duke Maverick up on Leo’s back. Just as Luciana was about to mount Leo, Cardan beat her to it and ascended in the air before sitting behind Duke Maverick. Even though he had confidence in his beauty, being cautious was not a bad thing.

He glanced at Duke Maverick’s face as he supported his shoulder with a lazy fingertip, preventing the man from falling. After he recovered from his previous ailments, Maverick no longer looked scary with shriveled skin and sunken eyes like he did before.

He had regained his appearance and he looked like a gentle kind of sickly beauty. With his slightly pale face, he looked even prettier than women.

If his Lucy was into this kind of man and if her heart softened or she got protective of him, it would be too late regret by then.

It was still better to take precautions. Cardan thought.

Luciana was speechless. What was he doing? How childish.

As she mounted Leo, she was clueless about what Cardan was thinking.

If she knew the thoughts running in his head, she would have wanted to strangle him.

Leo’s large wings fluttered and dust flew in the air as the beast pierced through the sky, disappearing from the place at an astounding speed.

A few of the heavenly guards were knocked down by the pressure in the air.
