Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 310: Treasures
Rezeph’s lips curled in disdain, ’’Are those even worthy to sweep the ground she steps on?"
"_"
What do you mean they aren’t worthy? What in the world do you mean by the fact that those artifacts which could annihilate the mortal realm with a mere flick are not worthy of the princess?
But Elder Hall suppressed his complaints in his heart, ’’Young Ladies are fond of jewelry. The shinier, the better.’’
Rezeph’s face darkened. Just when Elder Hall thought he was about to be reprimanded, he was proved wrong as the man looked at him with a thoughtful expression.
’’You are not wrong.’’
Elder Hall felt smug immediately but his smugness faded the moment Rezeph uttered the consequent words.
’’Prepare a few heavenly artifacts for my little fruit. And now that you mentioned jewelry, prepare the twin moon pearls, heavenly twirl tiara, pristine drop bracelet, angel eye ring, frozen breath pendant, and...’’
By this time, Elder Hall’s face was pale as he raised his hand weakly to stop the king from speaking any further.
N-No... Take it back. Take your ’and’ back. No!
Yet what was meant to come will come anyway.
’’...And the serpent clover necklace.’’
Elder Hall stumbled a few steps back. His old wrinkled face filled with despair as he clutched the wall for support.
Twin Moon pearls. The exquisite pearls were nourished by the moon god who was obsessed with them like they were his children.
Heavenly twirl tiara. The first true god of the heavens presented that tiara to his beloved during his reign. The tiara had disappeared after the true god and true goddess left the heavenly realm mysteriously.
Pristine drop bracelet. It was formed by the essence of tears of countless powerful mermaids and in the swamp of western Defire, a fierce water dragon was guarding it.
Angel eye ring. The ring with remnants of the powers of the fallen angel who had turned his back to heaven centuries ago.
Frozen breath pendant. It was a relic of the Dark Castle and it remained in God Atlas’ possession.
As for the Serpent Clover necklace. It was the treasure of the serpent clan that was passed down with the crown when the serpents changed their rulers and the younger generation ascended the throne.
Just... Just which one of them was ordinary?
Elder Hall shivered as he glanced at his god, who was now his King, ’’Y-Your Majesty, do you not want me anymore?" his old face was one moment away from being covered in snot and tears.
Looking at the old man who was on verge of clutching his leg and sobbing his heart out, Rezeph’s lips twitched before he smiled sinisterly, ’’Do you think I forgot a few things? How about the witch clan’s...’’
’’Your Majesty, how can you forget anything? Your benevolence and grace are beyond the sea and above the stars,’’ Elder Hall was full of smiles as he detached himself from the man, ’’The things you mentioned are nothing out of ordinary. Twin moon pearls? Our Princess deserves the whole moon. Serpent Clover? The serpent clan is greatly indebted to you. They won’t hesitate to submit themselves to our Princess...’’
In his heart, Elder Hall thought that those things were still somewhat believable but if he had to step into the den of witches, where in the world would he put his old life? In their mouths?
Looking at the old man who had an ingratiating smile on his face, Rezeph waved his hand, ’’About the heavenly artifacts, get...’’
Elder Hall broke down inwardly but he maintained a calm smile as he interrupted the King, ’’Pardon, your Majesty but I don’t think that heavenly artifacts should be handed to the Princess.’’
’’Oh?" Rezeph quirked a brow.
Elder Hall gulped, ’’Heavenly artifacts are divine. If they are not controlled properly, they would become a double-edged sword to the person who holds them,’’ he was saying the truth even though he had mixed intentions.
He needed time for the rare treasures mentioned and if he eyed the heavenly artifacts too, then they would cost him his head.
Rezeph did not think much of it, ’’Even if my little girl is rather gentle, delicate and fragile...’’
Gentle! Delicate! Fragile! Every word was like a sledgehammer on Elder Hall’s old heart. He could not relate these words to the shrewd and scheming girl with mysterious powers.
’’...Still, she is my daughter. She has inherited my divine powers, the hellfire. And she has many more special abilities. She is not weak. Even if she is weak, I will see which useless thing harms her. With me around, all those artifacts have two choices—either they submit to her and become her playthings or they get crushed and disappear forever.’’
Elder Hall shivered when the man’s tone dipped. He did not doubt that this man would keep his word.
In the end, he was spared from the heavenly treasures and was sent to look for the jewels first.
...
After walking out of the King’s bed-chamber, Esme’s felt rather fuzzy and warm. So, she had a father now? She felt a hint of awkwardness knowing that she would have to address him as such whenever she encountered him from then on but still, it did not feel as uncomfortable as she had thought. The feeling of having a father... though awkward, still made her feel a different kind of warmth.
When she came to Defire a year ago, she had lost all her memories. Without Aleister by her side, without her memories, she was more like a puppet under the manipulation of the Norwell Family. Though Luciana treated her well but she could not stay by her side all the time. And Esme had been cautious back then, she plotted everything knowing that she could not trust anyone around herself.
She had planned to use Jeremiah to ensure her survival and amidst all her plots, it was only the King who could make her let her guard down unconsciously. No matter how wary she was of others, she unknowingly never guarded herself facing Rezeph. He was unreasonable from the first time she met him, his care came without any reason and the way he pampered her... it was as if she was a treasure. His actions had always been mysterious but deep within her heart, she felt that he would not harm her.
