Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 333: I believe you
At this moment, the doors to Esme’s room opened as Aleister stepped inside.
’’I have made all the arrangements for your journey,’’ Aleister spoke to Adrian. His gaze shifted to Esme every once in a while, seeking some approval from her, ’’Leo would have taken you there in a few nights but his condition does not allow him to,’’ he glanced at the beast who was playing in bed.
Esme followed his gaze, ’’Is Leo alright?’’ She had been surprised when she heard about Leo’s shapeshifting skills and more so, when she discovered that the beast was born with wings. She had not seen him in his true form but it was not hard for her to imagine how majestic he was.
Aleister even told her about Leo’s past and everything that he discovered about the beast during his stay in heaven.
Ever since Leo sucked that witch’s life’s essence back in Visteria, he had become his younger self and she never saw him in his true form.
’’The added lifespan had not only made him younger but it also reduced his powers to some extent. During the one year that Leo was in this form and staying with you, he cultivated his powers and conserved it. And this time, before this journey, I used my powers on him which made him recover some or most of his powers which made it easier for him to transform. But now that he has returned to this...’’ Aleister pointed his chin at Leo’s little body, ’’It would make him weak for some time.’’
Esme looked at Leo in concern.
’’But he would recover in no time.’’
That relieved Esme.
’’I am not in such a hurry. You don’t have to bother. Since I am aware that everyone is safe back in our kingdom, I believe Aunt will keep an eye on things alongwith Duke Elias,’’ Adrian spoke up as he eyed the tiny beast stretching his paws and lazing around in the silk.
At this point, he was not even moved by anything. His sister was a mermaid. He went to heaven and spent his time with serpents who spoke and looked like humans.
There were ways to recover from injuries and for him, the way was to be piled with one shock after another till he felt numb and became used to it.
Aleister nodded.
’’And you...’’ Adrian frowned.
’’I did not,’’ Aleister cut him off, ’’I did not mistreat her,’’ he had some or most of the abuses that Adrian had hurled at him in the throne room thinking that he had mistreated her and let her marry Jeremiah.
’’I know,’’ Adrian let out a sigh. In the end, he reached out to pat Aleister’s shoulder.
As much as he wanted to take his sister back with him and treasure him in the walls of the Reis Castle, he knew that she did not belong there.
And with Aleister treating him so well, Adrian did not even have the chance or wish to do that. All he could see was the sparkle in Esme’s eyes everytime she looked at Aleister and he knew that nothing in the world could make her brighter than he did.
Before talking to them, and before meeting the both of them, Adrian had his considerations. But now, Adrian was just relieved.
Aleister glanced at the large palm that awkwardly patted his shoulder before retreating and he stifled his laughter.
Although not related by blood, they were indeed siblings in every aspect.
’’But I do not trust your brother,’’ Adrian’s words made the room sink into an uncomfortable silence.
’’Cardan. I am aware of the relationship that you have,’’ Adrian said, ’’Yet, I do not trust him. I do not trust my sister around a treacherous person like him...’’
’’Brother...’’ Esme held Adrian’s hand as she shook her head.
Adrian tilted his face towards her. He removed her grip from his hand and reached out to stroke her hair, ’’You can play family all you wish, Aleister. But keep my sister out of it, away from him.’’
’’I do not know what has happened between you or how that man has changed into a better person for you all to accept him the way you do. But the last memory I have of him is the encounter where he was trying to pester Esme and at my interference, he expressed his rage on me.’’
’’He was being controlled...’’
Adrian interrupted Aleister, ’’He can be controlled all over again for all you know.’’
’’Things happened before. He was being controlled,’’ Aleister held Esme’s hand, ’’Things might happen in the future as well but certain things will never change. I will always protect Esme, from anything and anyway.’’
If it was just another person, that made things much more convenient. Because for Esme, Aleister was willing to fight with her nightmares, with every shadow that bothered her, existent or non existent, it did not matter.
Adrian looked at the both of them before nodding helplessly, ’’I believe you,’’ as much as he did not want to, he believed him.
Esme speechlessly glanced at both the men, ’’Brother, to tell you the truth, I have been learning how to use my powers. I can protect myself too.’’
’’I know. I have heard of it,’’ Adrian smiled, ’’But to me, you are still the little girl who would get startled when she saw any of us hurt.’’
It felt like just yesterday when she saw him getting tortured in the King’s chamber and ended up panicking in a way that the whole castle was set on fire.
Maybe the time flew too past. A few good years were gone, all in a blink.
Esme smiled.
’’Am I interrupting something?" a soft voice resounded at the door.
Ruby stepped inside the room.
’’You are not,’’ Esme glanced at Aleister meaningfully, ’’I wanted to talk to Luciana so I was leaving just now.’’
’’Even I have to visit Cardan. He did not seem to be doing well earlier,’’ Aleister took the cue and continued.
