Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 363: T-The ladies left
Rezeph turned to look at Aleister, ’’I know you have questions.’’
Aleister remained quiet for a moment before he spoke up, ’’What I am looking for in that place?’’
All that Rezeph mentioned was the purpose of going to Whispering Mist River was to refine Esme’s divine powers and unleash them to their full potential. But how? A land of valuable treasures must contain not one, but countless artifacts. What was he looking for out of all those things?
’’The most powerful one,’’ Rezeph walked a few steps forward and turned around to look at his throne, his broad back facing them, ’’Powers have their mysterious way of working, children. You would not attract powers that you are not aligned with. What you are looking for will find you when you try to seek it.’’
’’What you are going to look for is not a simple artifact. It might be a toy to its creator, but for us, it has the power to shake the heavens and defy the norms of the world. We are born from the remnants of the powers of the deities and my consciousness tells me that this power is that it is the most powerful artifact in the world, but what shape it is in, what form it contains, I am unaware. You will have to find it to know about it.’’
Aleister fell into contemplation.
’’What about me?’’ Cardan asked when the King became quiet after talking to Aleister.
’’You will figure out when you go there.’’
Cardan scoffed. This man obviously was biased towards Aleister as he saw him as his potential son-in-law. Not that he had any complaints but why send him to death’s doors cluelessly? Wasn’t he being petty and holding grudges because he disobeyed him initially?
Lost in their own thoughts, they did not ponder over Rezeph’s words that were spoken to Aleister or else they would still have realized that something was amiss because how would the power aligned to Esme would find Aleister?
’’And how do we get there?" Cardan asked.
Rezeph looked at the pillars in the sea court as his lips moved, mouthing something incomprehensible until he said the last line.
’’With the powers of heaven and earth, I summon the magnificent archangels to open the portal to the Whispering Mist River.’’
The moment his words dropped, a violent wind swept through the peaceful sea court. Their hairs and clothes fluttered in the wild wind that got stronger and stronger with every passing second.
Dust swept through the wind like ashes.
Esme blocked her eyes as she stepped back. Her ankle twisted and she almost lost her balance but the moment she was about to fall, a strong arm wrapped around her wrist, preventing her from falling backwards.
She grabbed the throne chair for support as she pulled her hand out of Aleister’s grip, avoiding his intense gaze.
Soon, the storm calmed down and the sea court returned to its peace.
Unlike the last time when Jeremiah was exposed, this time the archangels did not show up entirely. They manifested themselves in an invisible form where nobody could see them.
Once the dust in the courtroom settled down, everyone regained their composure gradually.
’’Step into it,’’ Rezeph’s commanding voice sounded from near the throne.
Everyone’s gaze shifted to the portal that was torn open in the ground. As they looked into it, all they could see was a gaping darkness that seemed to be able to swallow everyone into it.
But just as Rezeph’s words dropped, the portal started closing gradually.
Rezeph stood motionless in his spot as he spoke again, ’’Step inside it before it closes,’’ his gaze briefly shifted to Luciana and Esme who were standing quietly on the sides, observing the scene without much of a resistance.
Then he turned to look at both the men.
Cardan glanced at Luciana. He took a step towards her but the moment he did that, she stepped back from him. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Wordlessly, he turned around and stepped inside the portal, his heart heavy with the ache that consumed him by the growing distance between them. The moment he stepped there, he disappeared right in front of everyone.
Aleister stepped inside the portal followed by Cardan, not sparing a glance in Esme’s direction for he knew that if he looked back, he would regret.
’’Your Majesty, the princes have departed. What...’’ Elder Hall’s words fell short and shock consumed through his body when he saw Luciana and Esme stepping inside the closing portal.
He pointed his trembling finger at them but no words came out of his mouth. He turned to look at Rezeph but unlike him, the man seemed to be standing there calmly as if nothing out of ordinary had transpired.
’’Your Majesty.’’
’’Hmm?" Rezeph walked back to his throne and assumed his seat, arching an eyebrow at Elder Hall.
’’T-The Ladies also left... Princess also set out on this dangerous journey. What should we do now?"
Rezeph frowned, ’’Did you not see it coming?"
Elder Hall was dumbstruck, ’’Then why did you pretend to side with both the Princes? Why did you make them believe that the ladies will not be going with them?"
’’I only had one chance to open the portal for them and I did not want to waste that opportunity because of their hassles,’’ How could Rezeph not understand his daughter? And even Luciana, she had grown up right in front of his eyes. He knew what kind of women they were and what their eventual decisions would be. But to prevent the men from being fussy and causing troubles, he did what it would take it for them to be cajoled.
"But you sent Prince Aleister to a place like that so he can find the artifacts for Princess. Yet, you let the Princess follow him there. If she is unsafe, then what would be the cause of it in the end?"
’’My daughter does not need anyone’s protection. She never sought it. I can protect her better than any other man but do you think she wants to be protected?’’
