Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 14: You Are My Sienna, Aren’t You?
Seeing Silas Prescott about to kiss her lips, Chloe Nash raised her arm and slapped his face.
Her voice also cooled a few degrees.
"Silas, are you out of your mind!"
The crisp sound of a ’slap’ caused the nearly out-of-control Silas to halt.
He gazed at Chloe’s cool and delicate face, breathing heavily.
"Then tell me, why do you have thalassemia but your parents don’t? What exactly are you hiding? Are you the Sienna I’m looking for?"
Silas’s words came out almost as a roar.
Five years searching for Sienna, and now he was closest to the truth.
Every nerve in his body was trembling, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at Chloe.
Seeing Silas like this, Chloe knew he was on the brink of madness.
If she didn’t tell him the truth now, Silas could do anything.
Chloe pressed her hand against Silas’s chest, fearing he might kiss her again.
As they struggled, her hand suddenly felt sticky.
She quickly raised it to look, and saw fresh red blood stains on her palm.
She stared at Silas and asked, "Are you hurt?"
Silas nonchalantly tore open his shirt buttons, revealing a bleeding scar on his chest.
With a mocking laugh, he said, "This is thanks to you. I missed you but couldn’t find you, so I carved your name repeatedly here, hoping you’d feel my heartbeat and return to me.
Sienna, tell your brother, you’re my Sienna, aren’t you?"
Seeing these bloody scars, hearing his words, Chloe felt a stabbing pain in her heart.
After all, he was someone she once liked.
Now driven to self-destruction.
The tightly wound string in her mind almost snapped because of it.
But thinking of how Silas would capture her and treat her as his pet again, controlling her, possessing her without freedom or space, Chloe’s words got stuck in her throat.
She forcibly contained her emotions, saying coldly, "Mr. Prescott, I am Chloe, not the person you’re looking for. The reason I was so anxious not to let you see my report is because of my mysterious background.
I wasn’t born to my parents, I was switched at birth, and my parents only discovered the truth when I was five.
They’ve been secretly searching for their child, but have never found them.
They’ve always kept it from me, and to prevent them from finding out, I pretended not to know.
That’s why I have thalassemia and they don’t. It’s a family secret; none outside the family know, because if my grandfather knew, he’d give all the shares to other uncles, leaving my Dad without anything. This is the truth I’m hiding."
When Chloe said these words, she tried to maintain even breathing.
Because if Silas discovered she was lying, it would all be exposed.
Listening to her explanation, Silas’s eyes were full of disbelief.
He chuckled lightly, "Trying to make up a story to fool me? Sienna, do you really think I don’t have other means to prove you’re my Sienna?"
Seeing him aggressive and relentless, Chloe shoved him away without mercy.
Sharply she said, "Since Mr. Prescott has doubts, go ahead and investigate. I will fully cooperate, but don’t disturb my work right now."
With that, she tried to sit up from the bed.
At this critical moment, her phone received a video call.
Seeing the caller ID, Chloe seemed to see a savior.
She answered in front of Silas.
A little boy’s voice came through: "Mommy, why didn’t you contact me today? It’s been more than ten hours since I last saw you. Daddy and I miss you a lot."
Hearing the word ’Mommy’, Silas looked at Chloe’s phone in shock.
In the video, he saw a little boy who seemed older than Julian Prescott.
How could Sienna have a child this old?
She left five years ago; even if she had a child it should be around four years old.
He stared at the boy’s innocent face and asked, "Is he your son?"
Chloe nodded, "Yes, his name is Fries, he’s five years old, one year older than your son."
She then said to Fries, "Fries, this is Uncle, a relative of mommy’s patient."
Fries politely waved at Silas, "Hello, Uncle."
Silas couldn’t describe his feelings at this moment.
He was so close to finding Sienna, only to have a child of this age pop up at the moment of truth.
Chloe’s son is five.
Which means she had this child six years ago.
But Sienna only left five years ago.
The timelines don’t match.
Could it be he was overthinking?
Silas felt frozen, like falling into an ice cave.
Utterly disappointed.
He stared at Chloe’s face for a long time, finally squeezing out a nearly broken voice from his throat.
"I’m sorry, Dr. Nash, I mistook you for someone else earlier."
Hearing this sentence, Chloe’s tense heart finally relaxed.
She feigned innocence and said, "I hope this doesn’t happen again; my husband will be unhappy. Also, I wish you wouldn’t disclose my background."
Reluctantly, Silas nodded and then left.
Seeing the door close, Chloe’s suppressed emotions finally couldn’t hold.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
Silas was the dream of her girlhood, seeing his obsession so intense, how could she not be sad.
But for him, she was ultimately just a toy in his palm. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Silas couldn’t stand the betrayal of the pet he raised, escaping from his grasp. That’s why all these years he’s been searching for her.
If found, he’d be even more crazed than before.
She didn’t want to fall back into it.
Moreover, Silas now has a wife and child; maybe soon he’ll let go of this obsession and stop searching for her.
Seeing her cry, Fries felt some heartache, "Mommy, why are you crying?"
Chloe wiped away her tears and said, "Mommy misses you. Once everything here is settled, Mommy will come back."
"Great! I miss Mommy too. The kindergarten is about to hold a sports day; I signed up Daddy and Mommy, and told my friends my mommy is beautiful."
Chloe smiled and nodded, "Alright, Mommy will definitely come and win first place for you."
They chatted for a while longer before hanging up.
Only now did Chloe feel utterly exhausted.
If Fries hadn’t called just now, she didn’t know how long Silas’s suspicion would last.
Fortunately, she had Fries as the perfect cover.
